Introduction
The current scenario, the aspect of the sustainable development is increasing rapidly. It is because societies and companies are becoming more conscious for the sustainability development. The aspect of the business sustainability development is associated with the concerning of the natural resources (Byrne et al., 2014). In this way, the main aim of this report is to prepare the business suitability report of Manton Property Development. It is engaged in the property development and it is a successful property developer based in Brisbane, Qld. It is operating from the last 40 years but it did not take any effective action and decision in the context of the sustainable development that it affects the result negatively. Now, as concerning of the need of the sustainable development in the business, the company is working on a project that is based on low rise, high-density housing project. The name of the project is The Sunshine Development. This report provides recommendations to MPD in the context of Water Efficiency and Energy Efficiency for The Sunshine Development.
Recommendations
Water Efficiency
If MPD wants to achieve the result in the context of the water efficiency, the company should analyse quantity of the required water. The planning for the water efficiency will help the company to identify the need of the investment and water supply gap. The practices of the water efficiency include the water conservation and water recycling. In order to bring the water efficiency, rainwater harvesting is a very effective method. MPD can try to store the rainwater (Bint et al., 2014). For this, the company can be prepared design by the architecture. For this, a large tank can be constructed according to the available space. Furthermore, the company can use a specific technique to filter the water. In the same concern of this, it is advised to MPD that it should concern on the decreased the water pressure in the water supply. It will help to decrease the quantity of the water in the supply at the users. For this, the use of the water pump and booster can be banned because theses support in increasing the water pressure (Robinson and Adeyeye, 2014).
As concerning of the water efficiency, it can also be recommended to MPD that it should insulate piping. For this, the structure of the building should be accurate that should decline the length and cost of the piping. At the same time, it is also important the number of leak proofing and leak repair should minimum. In the construction, a leak in the water line is one of the most causes of wasting the water. Hence, the company should provide the specific guild line the workers regarding the leakage and waste of the water. In the construction of the project The Sunshine Development, the company can also use the rain sensor on irrigation. It can also prove as an effective way in the water efficiency. MPD should also run a program where it can educate the user to on the water efficiency. It can tell the hazards of the wastage of the water and can also tell the ways of reducing the wastage of water (De Paola et al., 2014).
Energy Efficiency
In the project The Sunshine Development, there is also need to focus on the energy efficiency if MPD wants to achieve the aim and objective of the business sustainability. The energy efficiency can improve the health of the human beings by the help of declining the greenhouse gas emissions, acid rain and enhancing the air quality. For this, it can be recommended to MPD that it should concern on the demand side management that is a facilities management approach. It contains the ways to reduce the need for energy. In order to the conduct, the sustainability practice in the construction, the labor force of MPD should turn off electrical devices when not in use (Salvalai et al., 2015). A construction needs energy on the regular basis. In this, the user should keep in mind that it will turn off the electric device when no one is around. It is one essential habit and MPD should teach this to the all the employees and labor force. Employees and labor force should turn off the light when they are leaving the building. The company should implement the intelligent energy controls at the workplace. The use of the energy controllers is an effective way to save the energy and one of the best examples of energy efficiency. By the help of this kind of the equipment and sources, the company can save the 30% energy (Allouhi et al., 2015).
In the same concern of this, it is also recommended to building producers MPD that it should use the energy efficiency products in the operation. It will help the company to achieve the aims and objective of The Sunshine Development. In the construction, energy is required for lighting, cooling and heating. So that company should move for the use of the advanced technology at the workplace. It will result a significant reduction in the use of the energy. The company is also advised to utilize decentralized power or micro-grids during the operation. By the help of the decentralized or distribution power system, companies can save energy and get the expected result (Aste et al., 2016). In order the complete the construction of The Sunshine Development project, it should need to identify the balance between utilizing local clean power generation or a 100% utility generated. At the same time, it is also recommended to the MPD that it should also educate its workforces for sustainability development. For this, the company can develop and implement the training program for the workforce.
Conclusion
From the above discussion, it can be said that sustainable development is significant in the current business environment because the natural resources are limited. For this, users of the natural resource should concern on the ways that can help in saving the energy and water. At the same time, companies and users should be aware of the sustainability development.
