Unilever has a good hold in the market and has also established and captured the market with a huge variation of the product range. The main aim of the company is to provide the best range of products to their customers. But along with the advantages comes limitations too, and in this case, it has been evaluated that the business has suffered from several operational barriers too. Risk mitigation, where it has been seen that the procurement process always involves a great amount of risk and it entirely depends on prediction and sometimes over the analysis of the previous data. Dark purchasing focuses on the purchases that have been made from outside and are generally beyond the procurement process. This kind of purchasing of resources is said to be the major drawback of every procurement process.

Another major limitation is the lack of transparency. It is very important to have transparency with the clients as it may become a major reason for the conflicts. Inaccurate data is also seen to be a barrier due to which it may happen that the business ends up either procuring more resources or doesn’t meet the required criteria. Lastly, it can also be said that failure of the technology which has been adopted by the business can also be a major limitation for the process of procurement.

6.2 Future opportunities

The future of procurement has laid a great platform for every business so that they can effectively plan out their resources and optimize them in an effective and efficient manner.  The future of this mechanism will moreover depend on the ability of the business to deliver the required value of the given business. The evolution process is meant so that it can deliver higher payoffs so that the business can focus on innovation, cost-saving strategies over procurement and lastly the financial performance of the business. Hence, if the opportunities of the study are taken into consideration it can be said that the platform created will also enable the business and the firm to identify the effective strategy and process through which the market can be captured through the method of sourcing.

Therefore, the procurement process is very vital in every business and has created a great platform for the business to explore the new world with higher availability and delivery ability. It requires necessary steps to improve the process. Hence, it can be concluded that the procurement process can be improved by centralizing the information, identifying the inefficient process and also establishing a system of feedback in the organization.
