Course Title: Diploma of Nursing (DoN)
1. Introduction
Nursing care plays an utmost important role in order to recover the patient by providing mental as well as physical support. This assignment has provided four brief studies of case scenarios with different situations and based on those case studies, proper nursing action has been recommended to take.
2. Body
The CRC (Convention on the Rights of the Child) conveys that, the age of Jill is not suitable for getting pregnant; rather she must focus on her career path (Yoo & Cho, 2020). In 2015, it has been observed that the children born from teenage parents have experienced more a higher rate of unexpected as well as the sudden death of newborns (almost 3 babies out of 1000 babies) as compared to children of older parents. Babies born to mothers whose age is under 20 years are observed to be pre-matured (11%) compared to babies who are from women aged between 20 and 39 years. Jill should terminate her pregnancy and if her stepfather does not agree to that, legal action should be taken according to the termination of the Pregnancy Bill, 2018 (Henderson et al. 2018).
The case of Gene is very sensitive and very much unfortunate. It is very pathetic to know that he is going to die within a short span of six weeks. According to the Freedom of Information Act(1991), medical files from the doctor can be requested and assessed. Privacy Act 1988 also permits checking any record held by private doctors or hospitals (McKittrick & McKenzie, 2018). So if the patient pleads with health sector staff to inform him or her about her present health condition, he has the complete right to be informed.
According to Western Australian Law, passed on 20th May 1998 abortion is a serious crime and two doctors were prosecuted for the same cause in Perth back in 1998. However, in this case, it has been observed that the couple wants to retain their baby if it is a boy, otherwise, they would prefer to abort. Under the Sex Determination Act, 1984 in Australia, assessing fetus sex before birth is a serious crime (Davis et al. 2016). Therefore it is important to make the couple understand this by verbal talking and if the scenario is not changing, then the doctor is advised to take proper legal action.
According to a court in New South Wales revealed that if a patient is unable to make his or her own treatment decisions, treatment of the patient can be continued without his or her consent by using a special order- guardianship order. According to Bauer, Fetherstonhaugh & Winbolt (2019), it is harder or rather impossible to treat patients psychologically if the treatment is a compulsory one. Since the parents of Marie gave their consent, the physical restraint can be applied and this treatment method is also in the favor of Anne-Marie, therefore it is accurate.
3. Conclusion
This assignment has shed its light on four different scenarios with different contexts to present the proper nursing care management to each patient. In case scenario 1, a proper suggestion has been provided to Jill regarding her teen pregnancy whereas in case scenario 2, some regulations regarding the correct information have been provided for Gene. Nursing care is a tough job that needs to handle both the physical and mental strength of the patient, along with it also includes the circulation of correct information, which all has been highlighted and discussed in this assignment.
