Assignment Sample on Research Proposal
Abstract
The research proposal was based on the topic which is the problems that labourers face in the construction industry and a thorough discussion has been made on this issue. Furthermore, it needs to be mentioned that a research context as well as rationale have been discussed concretely in this research proposal. On the other hand, it may be mentioned that ontological considerations as well as choice have been provided with clarity in order to portray an overall view of the problems that the labours in the construction industry are currently facing. Moreover, epistemological considerations and data collection options have been discussed concretely in this concise research proposal.
Research Context and Rationale
There are certain challenges which the labourers of the construction industry are currently facing, and need to be chalked out in order to have an overall view of the situation that the labourers are currently facing. On the other hand, it needs to be mentioned that lack of training in providing knowledge regarding constructional tasks has reflected in the labourers’ skill shortages (Chang et al., 2017).
Moreover, certain challenges that the labourers of the construction industry are currently facing are listed as Lack of recognition skills as well as education, Poverty, Language and vocational skill training, low pay, lack of morale, job dissatisfaction are some of the significant issues which may be faced by the labourers which directly affects the overall growth of the construction industry. Furthermore, it needs to be mentioned that this research proposal will help to find out certain issues which the labourers are currently facing due to certain reasons. Along with that, the safety implementation program has always been a successful action to reduce construction related accidents which may take place due to lack of training to the labourers of the construction industry (Buniya et al., 2021). The labourers are not getting enough recognition which is required by the management of the construction companies. Apart from that, it may be stated that the management of most of the construction companies do not pay well to the labourers which is a big issue that the labourers are currently facing. The modular construction offers opportunities to improve construction related projects although most of the construction companies struggle to achieve a higher level of modularization (Choi et al., 2019). Furthermore, it needs to be mentioned that this research proposal will definitely lend a big hand in mitigating such issues which the labourers of the construction industry of the UK are currently facing. Low labour productivity has been a major issue due to certain challenges which are faced by the labourers in the UK construction industry (Durdyev and Mbachu, 2018).
Ontological considerations and choice
The labourers of the construction industry are facing few issues which may be found out with the help of social interaction although these issues change or differ from time to time. Moreover, construction workers immensely face challenges regarding health and well being which is a major issue currently (Dutta, 2017). Furthermore, it needs to be mentioned that according to objectivism the workers are obliged to perform certain task abiding by certain rules and regulations although they do not get paid properly on time which falls under ontological consideration. However, the UK construction industry is currently in the phase of disruptive technology although certain construction companies are not able to adapt to innovative technologies (Woodhead et al., 2018). According to ontological consideration, the research proposal will be based on objectivism which will assist in finding out the issues which the labourers are facing such as being reprimanded due to lack of performance. Many construction companies are facing cost overruns as well as schedule delays which is hampering the overall growth of the construction industry in a huge way (Safapour et al., 2019).
Epistemological considerations and choice
In order to successfully conduct a research, epistemological considerations are needed for research to create knowledge regarding the research. More specifically, it may be stated that research knowledge regarding the research may help to conduct the research methodology as well as help to gather the information regarding the research such as the labours facing the difficulties in the UK industry. Quality of the research regarding the facing challenges by the labours in contraction company in the UK is often determined by the proper skills and knowledge regarding the information which may help to conduct the research successfully (Adams and McLennan, 2021).
On the contrary, it may be mentioned that the knowledge regarding the labours difficulties in the UK construction company is acceptable if the information regarding the topic is in a discipline. Epistemological assumptions may help to gather all the relevant information and it helps to determine the difficulties of the labour in the UK construction company (Nicholson et al., 2020). Epistemological considerations may involve several approaches such as positivism and interpretive in which the research regarding the labour difficulties may maintain positivism. In addition to that, positivism may refer to gathering all the genuine information for conducting the research process that means the research is based on true collected information.
Data collection options and choice
In research methodology, the data collection process is an effective process through which the data regarding the labour difficulties in the UK may be analysed which may conduct the research properly. The research may be completed in three ways such as primary, secondary and mixed methods in which this research regarding the issues faced by the UK labour in construction companies may follow the mixed methods. Research methods are important parameters which may help to successfully complete the data collection and analysing procedures, however, lack of knowledge and skills may not conduct a research properly (Snyder, 2019). The mixed methods refer to a research methodology which includes the primary and secondary research where both the primary and secondary research are equally important for fulfilling the research procedures. On a contradictory note, it may be mentioned that the primary data collection process may be conducted through interviews and survey methods in which randomly selected respondents may help to conduct the research through interviews and surveys (Zangirolami et al., 2018).
More specifically, interviews are arranged online or offline through which selected respondents may communicate for completing the processes with the help of open ended questionnaires. Along with this, the surveys may be organized with the help of close ended questionnaires where the randomly selected respondents may help to fulfil the research regarding the difficulties regarding the labour UK in construction companies. For open ended questionnaires, three HR managers of different construction companies in the UK may help to conduct the primary research methodology. Similarly, for the close ended questionnaires, randomly selected 10 respondents will help to conduct the primary research with the help of surveys where the respondents may discuss the difficulties of UK labours. On a contradictory note, it may be mentioned that, secondary data collection process may be done with the help of journals and articles regarding the difficulties of the UK labours (Trinh, 2018).
Additionally, the journals and the articles may be useful tools through which all the individuals get benefitted to gather the information regarding the topic for effectively managing the research. The research may be done in both the processes such as qualitative and quantitative methods in which qualitative method involves the analyzing and collecting the non-numerical data (Clark and Vealé, 2018). The qualitative method is helpful for the research because it may provide basic concepts and opinions regarding the research whereas the quantitative method includes the numerical data for conducting the process effectively and efficiently (Sheard, 2018).
Ethical risks and comparison
Calculating the ethical risks and comparison in a research is very crucial for the proper development of a research proposal. Various important factors must be kept in mind while calculating the risks and comparisons such as, legality, confidentiality, carefulness, objectivity, honesty and integrity (Navalta et al., 2019). In the course of conducting a research, a researcher must keep the factors of legality of the subject in mind. Furthermore, confidentiality of the research plays an important role along with the factors of keeping honesty and integrity within the research work. There are 5 ethical considerations in a research methodology which are anonymity, confidentiality, voluntary participation of the participants and informed content of the participants. Anonymity is very crucial for conducting a research as confidentiality and anonymity as both the factors protect the volunteers who provide information while participating in the research.
The researchers are mostly interested in aggregating the research rather than the identity of the specific volunteer who provides the information. Furthermore, voluntary participation of the participants is very crucial as voluntary participation increases the credibility and authenticity of the information provided by the volunteers. Informed consent of the participants also increases the clarity of the research for the researcher as well as the volunteers during conducting a research (Martela and Riekki, 2018). Comparison plays an important role in a research similar to experimentation, comparison deciphers the relationship between multiple variables in order to reach the aim of the research. Comparison can be documented by observing similarities and differences in between two or more groups or subjects. All of the factors must be kept in mind while conducting a research as in the absence of the factors such as comparison and ethical risk it may be difficult to conduct proper research within a given time frame.
