Introduction
Managing performance within an organisational domain is considered to be highly important in maintaining business operations. It also helps in satisfaction of the customers within the domain further creating high scope for the company in terms of accomplishing the targeted goals. Current case study is highly focused on the issues of low sales and low customer base faced by Hertfordshire Catering Ltd (HCL) after implementation of the system of online sales through the use of Big Data analytics and ERP. In this respect, current study will be focused on the analysis of the importance of coordination along with integration of data systems in order to manage performance and operations within a business. In addition to this, study will also be focused on the presentation of a solution for HCL in improving and managing sales and justifying the choice.
Thesis statement of the study depicts implementation of data analytical systems are highly effective in improving sales and business operations.
Discussion
Importance of coordination in enhancing performance and business operations
Managing performance alongside enhancing business operations is the sole requirement of a business in order to succeed within a market. As illustrated by the thoughts of Asamoah et al. (2021), employees play a crucial role in business performance further leading to high sales of the organisation. Poor performance of employees in this respect will be leading to low sales and low satisfaction of the customers within the market. It is because, as observed from the theory of Maslow Hierarchy of Needs, customer dissatisfaction mainly results from satisfying lower level of needs before addressing the needs that is placed higher in the pyramid. Gap in this, tends to create low motivation among customers that fails to bring in brand loyalty (Dwivedi, 2021). Similarly, it can be observed from the case study of HCL, implementation of online sales system has led to low sales of the company. From this aspect, it can be analysed that the new sales system implemented by the company failed to meet the needs of the customer further creating a sense of dissatisfaction among them and in turn impacting sales and demand of the company (Hertfordshire Catering Ltd, 2021).
However, based on this aspect, it can be stated that coordination among employees is highly required, as they tend to be one of the major factors responsible for sales decline within the domain. It is because, as per the opinion of Dubey et al. (2019), low coordination of employees creates a high gap in deriving proper value of the products and services. It often creates a high gap in maintaining performance level and delivering proper products within the desired timeframe. Proper coordination results in proper understanding of job requirements by the employees further ensuring proper delivery of the products and services within the targeted time frame (Tajeddini et al. 2017). In addition to this, proper coordination of employees also results in low conflict within workforce, and is further observed to be a strategy of conflict management.
It is because above stated model of conflict management proposed by Thomas Kilmann depicts five strategies of conflict management within an organisation (Hastings et al. 2019). These include strategies of avoidance, compromising, accommodating, competing and collaborating. Based on the model of conflict management proposed above, notion of coordination in the form of collaborating seems to be one of the major instances of resolving conflict within an organisational domain (Ali and Haseeb, 2019). As a result of this, it can be stated that implementing coordination seems to be serving as an important strategy for mitigating conflicts, improving performance, and managing business operations. Henceforth, coordination is also important for HCL in order to mitigate the issue of low sales within the domain further improving the business performance.
Importance of integration of data information in enhancing performance and business operations
Data information integration is considered to be highly important in managing operations of business. As per the opinion of Dubey et al. (2019), integration of data information helps an organization to combine different systems of data further making it more valuable for business. It is also considered to be effective in managing the operations of the business further creating high value out of it. However, as argued by Ashrafi et al. (2019), improper systems of data integration such as Big Data Analytics, ERP and others can create high barriers in accessing proper amount of data that further can impact the operations of the business. For instance, considering the case of HCL, it can be stated that improper integration of the Big Data Analytics system leads to improper functioning of the online sales system implemented by the company. In addition to this, as per Basheer et al. (2019), it can also be stated that improper integration of ERP system also creates a high gap among internal stakeholders regarding the information management of the company. From this notion, it can be analysed that due to improper integration of data system such as Big Data Analytics, ERP and others, HCL faced a barrier in sharing the required information among the internal stakeholders.
In order to be specific it can be stated that the data of customers that have been gathered within CRM cannot be accessed other than the sales team and the marketing team of the company. In this respect, integration of data systems is highly important for enhancement of business performance and improvement of sales within the domain. According to Lamba and Singh (2017), data integration systems such as Big Data Analytics, ERP and others also provides the benefit of increasing sales force, and creating high capability of the company in executing targeted goal with few resources. This further is effective in increasing sales of the company and acquiring the company with high revenue margin within the domain. Other than that, as depicted by Nagy et al. (2018), a data integration system like Big Data also helps in improvement of the relationship between customer and partners. Relationship of customer and partners is considered to be important as it helps in building trust and loyalty towards the brand. High trust and loyalty of brand further leads to high demand of customers and in turn reflects high revenue and sales margin within the market.
Apart from that, the data integration system such as Big Data Analytics, ERP and others also seems to be having a positive impact on the aspects of making decisions within an organisation. According to Arunachalam et al. (2018), making decisions is the most crucial aspect within an organization as it helps in analysing the needs of the customers further channelizing it within the products and services. As a result of this, it can be analysed that proper decision-making aspects within an organisation helps in creating high value of the products and services. Henceforth, it can be stated that data integration system like Big data analytics is highly important for HCL as it can help to improve sales and performance within the domain.
Proposed solution and its justification
The presented case study depicts the issue of low sales alongside low volumes of the customers within the domain of HCL due to the implementation of an online sales system. This in turn is impacting on the revenue margin of the company further creating a barrier in the accomplishment of the targeted goals. However, as argued by Madaio et al. (2020), implementation of a data integration system with the online aspects is highly required for the management of the sales and information of the customers. It is because implementation of the data integration system will be helping HCL to comply with the needs of the customers and facilitating a popper decision-making system within the domain. As decision-making is highly required for the management of customer information, therefore, it will be effectual in managing the sales of the company effectively. According to Nadeem (2021), the data integration system also provides the facility of increasing the volume of sales by creating more volumes of products with low resources. Henceforth, this will also be effective for HCL in improving its customer and sales margin.
On the other hand, the system of data analytics will also be effective for HCL in coping up with the current issues faced within the domain. According to Dittmar et al. (2021), food analysis is a crucial part in analysing the low sales volume within the market. It is because, it can be assumed that low quality of food seems to be decreasing the sales volumes as it fails to satisfy the needs of the customers and thus creates low demand within the market. However, considering the current issue of HCL it can be stated that implementation of analytical techniques can be effective for HCL. As per Syed et al. (2020), analytical techniques mainly aim at analysing the broader perspective of the customers’ needs and implementing it within the products and services. It also helps in gathering information regarding the latest trends within the market. Similarly, as supported by Sujan et al. (2020), the techniques of data analytics also assist in improving the performance through proper analysis that in turn positively impacts the quality and volumes of the products and services.
Considering the current issues faced by HCL, it can be recommended that the food analytical techniques can be used by the company to maintain the quality of the food that in turn will be satisfying the customers properly. In this respect, the modern instrumental analytical methods can be used by the company to maintain the quality of the food products further maintaining the volumes and sales of the food products within the market. These mainly include electrophoresis, chromatographic techniques and others. According to Pess et al. (2017), this technique mainly deals with the characteristics of conductivity, fluorescence, light emission, ratio of mass-charge, extraction, dividing the food components and others. These techniques will be effective for HCL in analysing the issue within the food products further creating high value of products and services for the company.
Nonetheless, implementation of the analytical techniques will also be effective for HCL as it helps in providing easy access to networks. As opined by Alkhoraif et al. (2019), easy access of networks helps in evaluating the demands and trends within the market. It also serves as an essential element in accessing the requirements of the company in order to satisfy the customers within the market. Besides, analytical techniques seem to be serving different roles for the business. According to Müller et al. (2018), this technique plays an important role in the program initiation and acts as a testing program. This will be beneficial for HCL, as it will serve the purpose of food tester before it reaches the customers. Through this technique, HCL will be effective in maintaining the food quality that further will be increasing the customers demand within the market. Henceforth, implementation of the analytical technique will be effective for HCL in improving the quality of food that in turn will be effective in increasing the sales and customer volume within the market.
Conclusion
From the current study, it can be concluded that coordination and data integration systems such as Big Data Analytics, ERP and others are considered to be highly effective in managing the performance within an organisation and increasing its sales. The case study of HCL depicts low sales and improper performance after the implementation of an online sales system. Effective collaboration and data integration systems like Big data and ERP in this respect can be effective in improving the decision-making aspects, managing conflicts among the employees, creating better understanding of the task, increasing the adoption of the system and many others. As a result of this, the operation system within the organisation can be managed further creating a positive impact on the sales and revenue. However, the current issue of HCL can also be managed through the implementation of a data analytics system. It is because the system of data analytics helps in managing the performance of the company through the proper flow of information that in turn manages the needs and demands of the customers. Other than that, it also helps in creating high value of the manufactured products that also satisfies the customers within the market. Thus, implementation of data analytical systems like Big data and ERP will be highly effective for HCL in mitigating the current issue and creating high value of the products and services. Henceforth, the thesis statement of the study depicting the fact that implementation of data analytical systems are highly effective in improving sales and business operations is highly justified.
