SWOT Analysis

S – Strength  :  In order to build a career it is very much necessary for a person to know their own strength. What they are good at and how they can bring things to their table. And so through this analysis I will get to know my strength. One strength that I have in me that other people do not have would be my skill of communication . Many people possess this but only few of us knows how to use it (Boomaars,2018).

  • This is a skill which is necessary in all kinds of job. So for my career planning I make sure that I choose something where I can make use of my skill and not choose something which I cannot do.
  • The other strength would be consistency that I keep in everything I do. Even in my previous workplace my boss and other colleagues identify this as my strength and appreciates me for it.
  • Apart from all the achievement that I have had one particular achievement that I am extremely proud of would be when I won the award for the best speaker in a national competition.
  • As a student of international business management I possess the strength of managing teams from different cultures ,races and religion.
  • I believe in the value of being zealous in everything I do. I keep this as my motto and work for myself and for the future that is ahead of me. These are some of my strength that I carry on with me in everything that I do although there are few more. These two are the major strength.

W- Weakness :  Weakness is something which we all have it in us. Every individual has their own set of weaknesses. No one on this earth is born perfect and so we all have weakness in us. Although it depends on the individual non how to deal with the weakness. Because if we take the weakness and work on it , then it will instead become our strength and things will get better.

  • While at work there are some tasks such as sitting for long hours and working on the desk. This is one task that I try to avoid because I cannot do it. Although m confident about my education and skills I lack in patience.
  • This is my weakness and so if we have to look on what patience can do for our career, it’s simply amazing. This is where I lack in which I why I kept avoiding such task where I had to sit for long hours.
  • I have weakness of going in depth of the every problem or situation that I take a lot of time  for me as a manager.
  • My decision making skills and quick response skill is not up to the mark as required by the industry ,that I think need to work on
  • This is my main weakness in terms of not being able to be patient in some cases. This is usually where I try to work on .
  • Although it’s really hard to work on weakness yet I believe that it will be worth trying.  Therefore for me to get in my career planning I need to get it done for the sake of success. Without patience it’s difficult to succeed in anything and so one needs to have patience for everything. Weakness is not something that cannot be dealt with and so one should work on it to get better (Van der Heijden,2018).

O – Opportunity : Opportunity is something where we get the source of help in any way possible. And opportunity do come to us but not all the time. Sometimes we should make the opportunity for ourselves.

  • In my career planning I like to search for opportunity myself, because the more I try to explore the more I learn. And in this modern world with the skills that I have I try to apply it to the advantage of technology.
  • Technology is now ruling over and so this doesn’t mean that I would let it get over me in a negative way. I try to make use of the technology and make opportunity for myself.
  • This is the reason why people say that opportunity surely does come knocking to our door but at the same time it is even much better when we search for ourselves and make use of it with the skills and strength that we have got (Buheji,2020).
  • As I have worked as a warehouse operative I gained a lot of working experience from there , I have to an opportunity to gain senior post in same industry
  • Sometimes when some of our peers does not take the opportunity and make mistakes we can make use of it and grab those opportunity. That way it will also be a good learning for them as well as ourselves (McKenzie,2018).
  • Therefore, like mentioned above it is necessary to find ways for ourselves and work hard to make the career that we want. Because nothing comes easy , we have to fight for not and work for it.

T- Threat : Threats are not the ones which comes to us with life or death situation. Threats here mean that what do we exactly find in our workplace hard or difficult. Is some of the colleague being competitive on certain fields etc. (Römgens,2020)

Threats are something that should be dealt with patience and in a good way. If not goes the other way round then things can get bitter and the workplace can get unhealthy (Peeters,2019).

  • I do not usually face threats in my work place, however there are times when people get competitive and that’s when it triggers me and instead I try to take it as motivation to do better then everyone and do better in life.
  • Technology if we talk about this, is changing day by day and so we have to upgrade ourselves along with technology. So sometimes it gets difficult to cope up with every new thing at once. But also that doesn’t mean we cannot do it (Brandfon,2018).
  • With time we can also learn and improve on it. And my weakness doesn’t really lead me to threat because I know exactly where I lack and ao I try to work on it and the more I fail on it the more I also work on it.
  • Therefore, any kind of weakness and some workplace environment can be a threat to anyone and it totally depends i on the individual, it depends on the individual on how to deal with it and make sure that it doesn’t degrade them in any way.

STAR plus

This STAR technique is something which the interviewers use to interview a person to get to know them better. This is something where we have to describe a certain situations that we have faced earlier and how we had dealt with it. And also what did we learn from it. Through this they judge our personality and whether it will be fit for the job or not.  Below we will see how it went for my personal analysis through this STAR technique. (Boomaars, 2018)

S – Situation : T – Task : A – Action R – Result
The situation that I faced was when I was selected to lead a team for a certain project which was quite huge for the company. And so with their trust on me , they selected me for the team leader. We had to work on this for a short period of time and the work load was huge. It seemed impossible but yet we accepted and began the work with the best team members.( Igwe,2020)

Here the task given to us was to build a team for anew construction project .

In. that team, members were from different cultures

Being the team leader I had to divide the work and make schedule for everyone and make sure that everyone gets their own duty.

As a leader I managed the difference and maintain all the ethical values .

This was a huge project that we had to complete within a stipulated time. But with all the hard work we could complete it on time perfectly. This is the reason why the company got more project after this (Tonnon,2018).
