Global Policy and Strategy Assignment Sample 2023
Reflection of the business simulation
The reflection from the experience that I have gained from participating in the business stimulation has differentiated in three aspects including primary and secondary reflection and future intention.
The primary reflection would consist of personal experience and learning from participating in the business stimulation (Summet, 2019). On the other hand, secondary reflection will provide in depth information on the execution and management of all activities within the stimulation. At last, the future intentions emphasize on the real value of the business stimulation as it emphasises on my skill development and future scope of the skill in my life.
Primary reflection
My personal experience of working within the team was really superior as the team members were extremely cooperative and have adequate knowledge on the topic and on the industry. The major topics that I have analysed include various aspects of the voluntourism industry and the operations of one of the major voluntourism companies which is “Global Volunteer Company” (Globalvolunteers.org, 2020).
I have been assigned with the task of analysing the entire Voluntourism industry of the United States. This has helped me to identify that the industry is quite large within America and can effectively send help to various countries which are struggling with several social issues.
The Global policy or strategies of the companies that have contributed to the expansion of the industry have been explored in greater details for proper establishment of the business stimulation. The voluntourism industry that contributed to social welfare while promoting tourism at the same time have become quite popular and factors that affect the popularity behind these services have been explored effectively.
P people feel motivated to help other countries’ peoples who have been shuddering from problems and struggling to mitigate the issues on their own. Organizations like Global Volunteering company have been helping these people to live a prosperous life.
Secondary reflection
The first theoretical model that I have chosen for my activity is the Porter’s five forces model. This has helped me to identify the various external forces that affect the operation of the organisations within the voluntourism industry. As stated by Isabelle et al.
(2020), the various forces that usually can be determined with the help of this model is the force of new market entrants, existing competitors, bargaining force of suppliers and consumers and the threat of substitute items. On the other hand, PESTLE analysis has helped me to determine the various aspects of the United States that have contributed to the operation of various volunteering companies within the country.
It has helped me to identify the favourable and unfavourable national external factors that contribute to the success or failure of the volunteer organisations that work for the welfare of the society. Political, economical, social, technological and environmental factors of the country have been analysed for the industry analysis process (Rastogi et al. 2016).
The interrelationship with the group has been very positive as all of the members have a positive and hardworking attitude. This has not allowed any of the members to feel burdened with their assigned activities. We even helped each other in the times of need or urgency.
The decision makings of the entire group simulation have been done after discussing with all the members that all can contribute their bit of knowledge and experience to the business simulation. Various business theories and models have helped to shape the decision making and management of the overall activities.
Leadership skills of the group leaders have helped to systematically execute the entire task with collaborative effort. This has helped in obtaining data from secondary resources successfully for the development of the simulation. However, the team members encountered difficulty to find the current business model of the chosen company. Ideas and concepts learnt within the module have helped to execute the entire process of the group work.
I have attained insight on the operation of the entire industry that has been aiming to mitigate social problems within various locations throughout the world. These companies not only promoted welfare work but also promoted tourism of the countries with social issues for the stabilization of its economy. This can help in accelerating the economic contribution of the country where the volunteer company has been operating.
Future Intentions
In future if I get the opportunity to party count in such group activity I would become more active and more responsive. However, leadership skills are one of the major requirements to work within a team and guide it towards positive results (Lacerenza et al. 2018).
My leadership skills will be utilized for the activity as I will plan the steps that need to be acquired for completion of the entire simulation and then assign tasks to the group members. This can systematically complete the entire business limitations within a fixed time period. However, participating in the simulation has contributed to enhancing my team working ability.
I have learnt to collaborate with others and respect their opinions. This group activity has provided me the opportunity to establish my own opinion while respecting others opinions too. This can help me to get employed in any leading business corporation as I have attained the knowledge and experience to work within a team and attain positive results as well.
I have effectively executed the industry analysis with the help of authentic data obtained from relevant data resources. However, I could have helped other team members for executing the Business simulation rather than being limited within completing only my own responsibility. This could have enhanced the interrelationship among the team members and improved the team dynamics.
Reflection according to “Gibbs Reflective Cycle”
Graham Gibbs developed Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle in 1988 which has helped to introduce the concept of reflective learning (Markkanen et al. 2020). This process involves learning and knowledge attaining from personal experiences. The various aspects of this model have helped me to structurally print the reflective learning from the business stimulation.

Description
The Business simulation of the Global Volunteers Company has been executed by our team. The industry that has been analysed with the team effort was the Voluntourism industry. This simulation has provided adequate knowledge about the industry and the operations of such volunteer companies.
I have been provided with the responsibility to execute the industry analyses and determine the external effects of the industry in the operations of the chosen company. Other group members have been provided with different tasks that have helped to complete the business stimulation within a limited time period.
Feelings
Participating in the simulation has made me aware of my capabilities and competencies. I was thinking to utilize my personal attributes and contribute to the proper execution of the activities included in the simulation. I was feeling really excited to participate in a team assignment as it can contribute to the development of my team spirit.
As stated by Chuang et al. (2016), working within a team enhances the communication and relationship skills of an individual. This skill has been improved while communicating with the other group members for developing coordination with the various activities of the simulation.
Evaluation
The entire experience left me with mixed feelings as I had to face some challenges while executing my responsibility in the group assignment. However, some of the activities were easy and convenient for me. I have been provided with the responsibility to execute the industry analysis.
In order to execute that I had to go through several relevant case studies this was challenging for me. Analysing the industry with relevant models have also been challenging as it required knowledge about the various models that are used to analyse an industry. The internal and external aspects of the industry have been effectively identified with the help of the analysis models.
Conclusions
I would have preferred to analyse the organisation and its business model to attain insight to the type of model volunteer companies consist of. This would have helped me to understand the operations of volunteer companies that help in improving the deteriorated condition of the society.
The motivational factor behind developing such companies and continuing the operations within the voluntourism industry can be identified with the help of organisational analysis.
Besides this, I would have liked to operate as the group leader for improving the collaborative effort and its effectiveness within the group activity. This could have helped me to enhance my leadership skills and execute the activities in a more systematic way.
Actions
In case this type of task is assigned to me again, I would like to be the leader of the team and lead the entire process of business simulation with proper planning. Strategic planning of all the activities can help in completing the entire assignment within a reduced amount of time and can effectively save resources as well.
The proper planning with an assigned time frame can help to create urgency for completing the simulation. This can help in achieving improved results of the simulation with active group members and their active efforts.
