KF7028 Research & Project Management Assignment Sample 2023
1. Challenges encountered
Selecting an appropriate topic is necessary in order to begin assignment and the available options were interesting to me and it was hard for me to select one. However, I found myself with a higher interest in cloud technology thus I decided to work on a cloud computing-based framework or CCBF. The next problem I faced while I was trying to think of using this technology in real life and it can be implemented in sectors such as financing and trading. I am always curious to help humanity and thus I wanted to implement this technology in a way so that it can be used in a life-threatening situation. However, cloud technology can be used in banking and trading as a helpful tool but presently several alternative options are also available to people. Finally, I decided to implement the idea of using cloud framework into the medical sector as people often seek help but are unable to get help in time.
I was convinced that in the medical sector often people look for donors and donors but due to lack of a core database, they are unable to get help or provide help in time. However, there was a need for selecting one particular possible implementation of secure cloud computing-based framework. I decided to select one topic based on the common needs of hospitals and thus I selected blood bank as a development sector.
The next step was to collect necessary data and I was able to get information from online sources such as journals and books however, there was a lack of real-life experience. However, I gained sufficient knowledge from surveying literature reviews and it was fruitful for me as I found myself that cloud framework can be used efficiently in development and organize the blood bank system. However, there were several doubts about the scope of the proposal but as I started to think of what the medical sectors are lacking presently, scopes of this system were clear to me.
There must be sufficient objectives in a research proposal in order in order to empower the uses of the proposed technology. By connection with the opinion given by Al-Maatouk et al. (2018), the main objective was to make a core cloud framework that can be used by donors and donees but there was lacking explanation objectives. Influenced by Barik et al. (2018), I decided to use SMART objectives and based on the possible scopes and uses I was able to enlighten several vital objectives of the proposal. Preparation of the Gantt chart was a vital part of the project as it was required to monitor the whole project details. However, risk management was a hard part of this research proposal because of limited knowledge in the sector of medical science. Practical experience is necessary before bringing an idea into life, as a result, analysing risks and mitigating risks was a big challenge for me.
Analysing journals and articles helped to enhance my knowledge and while understanding possible risks of implementing the research proposal Ethical, legal, social, security-oriented and professional factors were greatly helped. As per the view of Belguith et al. (2016), researcher’s knowledge can be enhanced by learning and thus identifications and justifications of collected journal articles have helped to face several challenges in different stages. However, it was hard for me to provide significant and selected information in the assignment but I had tried to highlight different views.
2. Interaction and support
Guidance is the core of successful research and because of the valuable time of my tutors, I am able to complete my assignment efficiently. Since I was trying to select an appropriate topic my tutors had helped to clear fogs in my mind and provided assistance to pursue the assignment. I found that the cloud-based framework can be used on a large scale and in future the gathered knowledge I can use for making a greater implementation of cloud framework. Addition of that, in several steps of my research I had fallen in doubt but my tutors were there to meet my enquiries and it was a great help for me.
Interaction with teachers, supervisors and peers is necessary to enhance knowledge thus I was able to gather several valuable information with logical and informative interactions. Apart from that, several ideas such as scopes of my proposal had been developed as I was able to know the current situation of medical science and hospitals. Other than that, risk factors of the proposed topic were also unaware to me but from the interactions with my superiors, I was able to guess their hints.
My supervisor had helped me from the beginning of the selection of the topic. I faced several problems in the selection of the topic of my choice and there were several topics that I wanted to try. However, as per the suggestions of my supervisor, I decided to select one topic in which I had enhanced knowledge. Practical knowledge helps to understand the needs of society and hence it opens the scope of implementation of new ideas that can be helped in the development of human life. Thus, supervisor’s support has helped me to continue my work when I was lacking practical knowledge. Apart from that, daily checking, correction and suggestions of my works were the keys to progressing my work from scratch. Meetings and feedback were important to me as it gave me confidence in my work and by providing the valuable time my supervisor had proved his efforts for their students.
Group work is depending on proper coordinates and understandings of each other; a big group leads the work towards several contradictions (Chen et al., 2016). Therefore, it was expected to have a small group in order to pursue one research program. However, I found myself lucky because of responsible group members and they tried their best to express their knowledge and helped me to pursue the research proposal. As per the view of Ghosh et al. (2017), it is necessary to have a good knowledge of cloud technology in order to prepare a mind map thus, by coordination a core mind map had been prepared that can be used in the blood bank efficiently. According to Liu et al. (2017), it is necessary to have a different point of views of a topic in order to densely analyse the subject. The result of in-depth analysis of blood banks had helped to find out possible issues of the technology-based collection and providing platform. It is necessary to mitigate the visible problems in order to make the proposal a risk free gamble and it also has been perfected by interaction with group members and tutors.
3. Skills for the success of the proposal
Preparing a proper research proposal is depending on several skills such as innovative ideas, analytical skills, writing skills, communications habits and learning habits (Moghaddam, Wieder, Çemberci & Yahyapour, 2019). It is necessary to have sufficient knowledge to begin a research proposal and the selected topic was based on the blood donation banks of which I had limited knowledge. Hence, by implementing the skill of learning and adaptability the research proposal had begun.
Using secure cloud computing-based framework into the blood banks was the main aim of the research proposal and thus there were three vital skills, technological skills, organizational skills and learning skills.
- Technological skills: The proposal is based on a cloud framework which is standing in the technologies and software so, without proper skills of technologies the cloud platform cannot be imagined (influenced by NICOLAU, Alexandru & Ianculescu, 2019). The proposal is depending on the cloud framework and it has several scopes in hospitals thus, highlighting the possible areas will help to enhance the research program in future.
- Organizational Skills: A good research program is depending on proper organization of work and maintaining disciplines. It can be seen that the proposed work had been done in several stages thus it was important to use organizational skills efficiently. Time management was a big factor as there was a limited time of completing the research work and based on good organization and management the work was done in due time.
- Learning Skills: Learning is the key to enhance knowledge and it was founded that I had limited knowledge about blood banks (influenced by Punithavathi, Geetha & Shanmugam, 2017). Thus, based on a detailed study of journals and articles I was able to gather sufficient knowledge. These skills were used for extension of knowledge for the possible use of cloud frameworks as well which may help in future to extend the research in future.
There exist several other skills as well that were used in completing the research proposal such as writing skills, as it is necessary to present a proposal in a presentable manner. According to Sakthivel & ME (2016), good communication skills help to increase the knowledge and it was necessary to have in my proposed project as I had a lack of practical experience. As per the view of Simou, Kalloniatis, Mouratidis & Gritzalis (2016), reading speed was necessary to support the learning skills as different journals and articles help to gather sophisticated information and it can lead the proposal with quality information. Critical thinking habit is the key of innovative ideas and it was used in the beginning to select a topic and even during the process of work it also was used to develop the research.
4. Discussion on lessons learnt and future strategies
This research proposal has helped to find out the practical implementation of modern technologies in the present day scenario. Blood banks and their collection process, as well as the distribution system, also has been acknowledged through this research proposal. Connection with the opinion given by Tajalli et al. (2019), the course of master in computer science has helped to enhance the skills in technologies, however, there is a need for practical implementation and this research proposal has helped to experience practical scenarios.
Literature review gave a scope of increasing the knowledge and also the implementation of a system in real life provided confidence to build own technology (influenced by Vora et al., 2018). Based on the theories several unknown tips and tricks have also been revealed which can be used while creating a secure cloud framework. Books and journals related to practical success and failure guided me to take preliminary precautions before placing a technology. Apart from that, this research program also helped me in cooperation in a group and it helped in achieving the target within time. I founded that practical work is essential before joining a job as an experienced person able to mitigate avoidable risks and issues.
My future strategies are the result of the outcome of these research proposal programs as now I have decided to prepare technologies based on real-time needs. Apart from that, I have found that planning has a unique role in research, thus I will focus on planning in order to proceed with future works in an organised way. As per the view of Vorakulpipat, Sirapaisan, Rattanalerdnusorn & Savangsuk (2017), good communication skills also enhance the power of collecting information and also social skills relying on good interaction thus it is required to be improved.
