From the Coaching wheel 1, strengths and developments goals are as follows: –

Strengths: File formatting, data gathering, consciousness

Development Goals: However, I want to mention that I have learned the exact ways to format files during the course of my study and that will be extremely helpful for me to become an effective researcher in the future. On the other hand, I also want to mention that through the period of this course, I have learned the way to conduct thorough research on a given topic, however, gathering data for the research from the internet, tested my patience a lot. I have scored the same on consciousness as well, meaning that I have quite a conscious personality and my score on extraversion means that I am quite an energetic person as well.

I want to mention that one of the areas that I need to develop in order to become both a successful researcher and enterprise manager is enhancing my digital literacy. I have significantly less knowledge in that area and in order to become and thus, I need to develop my skills in that arena to become successful in my professional and personal life ahead. It needs to be mentioned that researchers are required to format the files after the individuals have finished conducting any hypothesis and without the correct file formatting the research paper may not be submitted (Refer to Appendix 1). In addition to that, although initially I had difficulty in searching for the most relevant information on the internet, gradually I have developed that skill and I think that I have become quite efficient in proactive searches as well (Refer to Appendix 2). On the other hand, I have sufficient knowledge on my various digital self-service tools that are available, however, I think that my knowledge in that area might be a little better. In order to be an effective enterprise manager, I feel that I need to have excellent knowledge about all the digital self-service skills rather than knowing just the basic steps (Refer to Appendix 3).

Development Activities and Support needed: I have used different types of self assessment tools, such as the online testing tool and from that I have come to the realization that I need to work on a number of things that may help me in increasing my digital competency in the future. Over time I have realized that in order to do any work with utmost efficiency, communicating profoundly is the most necessary thing and in this day and age, communication through digital mediums is the most relevant thing.

In addition to that, during this course, I have had significant difficulties in conducting virtual communication with other members who are also a part of this course. The use of different media may be regarded as a crucial part of communication that is conducted virtually and also as a part of human’s interaction in today’s age as well (Handke et al., 2018). I did not know the correct way to browse the internet and go through authentic websites in order to obtain the relevant information that I needed to complete my course. I feel that my lack of knowledge in this domain will prevent me from being an efficient researcher and also a manager. Since in many professional settings it is required for an individual to conduct thorough research on a topic to make the most effective decision.

Furthermore, during the course, I have learned a bit about the way I may back up important information on the internet, however, there is so much that I still need to learn (Refer to Appendix 4). For instance, recently I found out that one of the most relevant pieces of information that I thought I had backed up on the cloud got lost and I was unable to find that after. Data needs to be backed up, since the files one is currently working on may not be replaced if the local files have been lost (Phillips et al., 2019). Therefore, I feel that a researcher or manager for that matter does not have the privilege to lose any relevant piece of information as that will reflect negatively upon the work. Moreover, I want to mention that I have hardly any knowledge about the way the whole system of the internet works and the way everything is connected with one another (Refer to Appendix 5).

The way websites and domains work and the way these are associated with one another, is something that I have failed and continue to fail to understand. In today’s age if an individual wants effectively in a professional environment, then that person needs to have the ideas of these aspects of the digital world. Thus, I need serious knowledge and skills in these areas for the purpose of being an effective manager. Although, I want to mention that I have sufficient knowledge about the several relevant platforms and networks, such as Facebook, Linkedin and more. Research suggests that faculties who are involved in higher education are gradually gravitating towards social media to improve instructions (Coleman et al., 2018). I feel that having sufficient knowledge about the social media platforms will be extremely helpful in my career, since the social media groups also connect researchers and students through the social learning groups.

That way I may come in contact with other individuals who are also part of a similar course as I am and learn from those people about the things that I need to work on. It is assumed that effective interactions amongst students is beneficial for training the individuals to be involved in active learning and develop critical thinking skills (Hussin et al., 2019). I want to mention that I thoroughly enjoy engaging in social interactions and sharing my views and opinions through different social media platforms and with that, I may be able to gather other people’s opinions on a given topic as well (Refer to Appendix 6).

The reasons for enhancing these skills are as follows: –

Steps to take: I also want to mention that I have also taken a personality test with the help of a self-assessment tool, such as a big five personality test at home to self assess different aspects of my personality and in that test I have scored 79% on openness, which indicates that I am quite open about my opinions and views (Refer to Appendix 7). Machine learning has also a lot to contribute to personality tests in today’s age, since assessment tools nowadays powered by such technology may predict human behaviour and personality traits efficiently (Bleidorn and Hopwood, 2019).

From the above-mentioned table, it is evident that in order for me to become an effective researcher, I need to develop my skills in a few specific areas, such as my team collaboration skills, effective communication skills and also in my researching skills as well. Research has stated that in situations under which several research teams are grouped within similar situations present opportunities to identify factors leading to effective collaboration (Kelly et al., 2020). I will also have to increase my digital proficiency skills to keep all the information related to the research safe so that it does not get lost. Therefore, in order to understand the extent to which I have developed my skills and will need to work on enhancing the same, I will take several self-assessment tests and based on the scores, I will further work towards that. The significant acceptance of the big five personality test has caused an acceleration in using the concept of personality assessment while conducting personal selection (Pelt et al., 2018).

The table suggests that in order to become an effective manager of an enterprise, I need to develop significant leadership skills, since managers are required to lead an organization and the subordinates to a great extent. According to research, the concept of leadership in today’s exponentially changing and to some extent unstable business world has become immensely important (Iordanoglou, 2018). Along with that, it also needs to be mentioned that for me to become an effective manager of an enterprise I also need to have effective communication skills, since managers need to effectively communicate with the employees to have an amiable environment within the organization.

I need to mention that I need to learn virtual communication more, since due to the ongoing pandemic, the concept of remote working has become the new norm. In addition to that, it also needs to be stated that in order to train the employees also I will have to communicate virtually, which further indicates that my digital proficiency skills need to be improved in order to be an effective manager. Therefore, I will take several self assessment tests to find out my capability in those areas and which skills I have to work on more to become better at my job. I will attend different lectures and seminars and learn from the internet about the digital skills that need to be improved by me for the purpose of becoming an effective manager of an enterprise.

Conclusion

Finally, it may be concluded that in order to become an effective researcher and an effective manager of an enterprise, there are several things and aspects that I need to work on for being efficient at my job. However, I want to state that I need to focus on being extremely efficient in my digital proficiency in order to excel at both these aspects. Since I have realized that my lack of knowledge in this area may hold me back from being efficient in my professional and personal life.
