The Leisure industry is a rapidly growing industry that provides ample opportunities for youth around the world. The current world shows a tendency to avail of leisure services such as Recreation, entertainment, Sports, and Travel. Therefore there is a high steep can be observed in the growth rate of the leisure companies. Many big companies such as ThomasCook and AirBNB have already taken the front seat, therefore, to recruit skilled and efficient employees in a moderately performing company has become a major issue. Therefore, the report will show how the organization is drafting the aims and objectives to increase the employability of the company as the increased employability will automatically increase the overall performance of the entire organization and increase the performance rate to a great extent.
The aims and objective of Carnival Corporation is involved with the leisure industry it can be stated that the organization is looking for young and talented employees who are good in communication can solve problems with their presence of mind, can adapt to the changing nature of work and environment, great enthusiasm and not only that but passionate about working with the industry. The basic aim or objective is to increase the efficiency of the company with the help of skilled employees.
Thus the organization has decided to take support and help from a popular placement agency of the United Kingdom. Kings Recruit is one such leading placement provider that trains the ambitious youth to be prepared to work in the multidimensional leisure industry. The placement company helps Carnival Corporation that are looking for talented employees for their business hire best-suited employees and trains them on the particular skills which the organization is looking for. If the aims and objectives of the business organization are considered it can be seen that King’s Recruit is able to provide the same to the ambitious organization. The organization provides special training to the cruise and leisure industries oriented people in a great number.
The report below will point out the various areas where the organization is working on and what needs to be changed in order to get better and strong employability within the organization. The company is the largest leisure cooperation where the cruise line itself has almost 3900 employees.
Operating Environment of the organization
The placement organization King’s Recruit is a multidimensional organization that works on various grounds and helps various business units or entities to grow their business by selecting suitable employees, similarly, it also helps the job seekers to increase their employability to get hired in their desired sector. The company’s operating environment includes various industry and job roles including sales and finance. Yet, the recruiting or operating environment of the company for leisure business is the topic for discussion. As stated byDogru et al., (2019), Kings Recruit ties up with various business units with a percent share. The company is basically a third party recruited in the UK that hires people for the client organization.
It has been observed that the placement company builds a partnership with business organizations to recruit or train on their behalf (Hu, 2017). The company follows a scheme of RPS which is also known as Recruitment partnering Solution. The company has already operated with various leisure industry operators and has provided 140 candidates in the last 2 years, therefore, it seems suitable that the leisure organization that is seeking for recruiting proper employable candidates in the company along with proper training and skill collaborate with the mentioned placement organization King’s Recruit (Bonilla, 2017).
The company is currently in the need of properly skilled employees as the loss that the company has been gone through because of the wrong placement is more than 130000 pounds which can be reduced once the company hires an employee who is aware of the mechanism of the company which includes both the hotelier and cruise units of the company. The skilled personnel can provide adequate services to the customers who spend their money to avail of the services. Hence, it can be stated the skilled employees at each level such as front desk, internal services, financing, managerial level, human resource, team managers, logistics and line managers and many other posts require various employees who are not ameture but professionally trained to operate the duties are in high demand to operate and thus the company is required to engage with the placement company.
As stated by Kizielewicz (2017), Carnival Corporation’s market share is 44.1% in the world, which is the single majority in the cruise line, whereas the full year re3venue of the company is 20.8 billion dollar USD. The cruise line operates in almost 150 countries across the world.
Analysis of the strengths and challenges of the organization
It has been observed that the organization has faced a few difficulties as well as strengths while conducting the recruitment programs. Recruitment process and employability are closely related therefore while practicing the same in reality that can both help or disrupt the way of conducting the same.
Strengths: As stated by Firth (2018), the theory of Cognitive Placement allows the human resource managers to analyze or appraise the overall performance of each individual and then their on the basis of their grades which is highly technical. Therefore, while conducting the recruitment the company can properly appraise or analyze the value of the person that the company desires to hire. The process follows a proper scrutinization process which helps the organization to understand the core balance and proper raw talent that one carries within itself. The Carnival Corporation and the recruiter can thoroughly check and decide the ability and capability of the person that is going to be recruited in the firm (Vassallo-Oby, 2017). The company is in demand for various posts therefore, the scrutinization of the employees must be made with proper responsibility.
The cognitive process helps the recruiter or the human resource to understand the talent of the person who they are hiring and the appraisal process not only helps the recruiter to hire the proper person but it has also helped the same to understand the worth and skill of the existing employees. The process cannot be manipulated by any way the employers only look at the grades the job seekers have acquired on the basis of their talent, training, and skills. Therefore, it can be said that the company has acquired an advantage by using the cognitive method or theory of placement. The strong human resource base and appraising ability helped the organization to organize placement so far.
Challenges: According to Yoon (2020), the organization faced enormous challenges in conducting the placement or recruitment process which is the reason why the organization is looking forward to using the help of placement agencies. As the leisure industry is multi-dimensional the reach of the said organization is much bigger (Jones et al., 2017). The company is involved in both hotels as well as cruise business that are related yet different from the other, therefore, the organizational operations are multifold. Therefore, conducting the recruiting or placement process by merely using the cognitive theory of placement does not completely solve the issue of hiring a good employable candidate, sometimes a candidate is not perfectly suitable for a particular designation within a particular operational area but suitable for some completely different area. As the recruitment is not done from a single human resource body sometimes inefficiency occurs which is hard to resolve. The demand for the skills and talents are different for each designation at different segments of the company. Not only that, as mentioned by Zhan (2016), the company has also faced certain difficulty because of the inefficiency of the human resource manager who failed to practice the cognitive theory while hiring the candidates or sometimes hire out of manipulation because of the lack of monitoring on whether the processes are practiced with proper measures and adequacy. The dependency on HR often led to a great amount of loss as the organization let in an inefficient employee who is not employable enough for a particular role (Morley, 2016).
Thus it can be stated that the application of the placement theories, in reality, is not the same, yet the organization tried to implement the same in the operation and that lead to a mixed result which is in some cases helped the organization to get a right candidate whereas in some cases to bring in a wrong candidate which is not desirable for the company itself.
Recommendations
After analyzing the current performance of the organization in increasing the employability of the company without hindering the overall performance. Few recommendations have been made which also indicates the involvement of the placement organization King’s Recruit.
Training: after analyzing the issues of placement it has been observed that the organization is required to appoint employees who are trained or if they are not taking the measure of training them so that the employability of the company increases and the performance of the same do not get bothered by it(Jensetet al.,2019). Therefore, it can be said that with the help of the training program of the company King’s Recruit, the leisure company can appoint a trained and skilled person in the company and also get the opportunity to train the existing and new employees to work
Marketing: The marketing of the industry relies on the employability of the company to a certain extent therefore, it is suggested that the organization pay attention to the aspect while managing the employment with the help of the placement agency or company. Marketing is one of the most important parts of recruitment. The partnership with the King’s Cross will only help the organization to boost its market demand and increase the chance of getting more suitable employees for the organization (Uysal,2016).
Customer service: for the leisure industry customer service is crucial as the entire industry is dependent on the likeability of the customers therefore while employing new people the goal of customer service must be penetrated within their minds so that the company does not face the difficulty of a bad reputation.
Contemporary employment marketplace: There are various other big and small companies that operate in the sector and hire a good number of employees each year therefore while employing new candidates the company must keep taught in mind and make the strategies and sponsor the third party company stating the issue of competition.
Communication: Communication is a major part of employment one candidate that lacks proper communication measures is not suitable for a job in the said industry. It is essential that each employee is aware of their job and understands the need for communication flow within the organizational framework. The organization can suffer because of the lack of communication flow therefore, the company must make the agency aware of the fact while hiring candidates on their behalf.
People development: the scope of people on employee development must be ensured by the company itself to increase the employability and placement opportunity. If the scope of development is minimal the employment rate can decrease to a certain level therefore, the company must ensure that they provide the scope of development for the people who are engaged with the workforce of the company and help them to increase their adaptability in the working world that they live in.
The organization must make sure that it follows all the recommendations and increases the credibility of the company.
Conclusion
By looking at the entire chapter it has been observed that the company that is involved with the leisure industry has been performing well in the sector yet the employment and placement operation of the company is not performing well which is harmful for the organization to grow in the future. The market performance, adequate customer service, contemporary marketplace in the employment sector all rely on the employment facility of the company. It has been observed that the company is struggling with the issue and therefore seeking help from placement agencies who are the third party employer that trains and hire suitable employees for the role. King’s Recruit is one such organization of the UK that has been helping other organizations of the same industry as well. Thus as recommended above, if the organization follows the method while recruiting employees and consider the organization will be able to overcome the issue of recruitment and will be able to perform as per the requirement of the company.
