Introduction
The present report is based on the analysis of the different professional skills useful for employees to possess in the workplace. The report helps to enhance the employability of an individual in terms of different skills and effectiveness. The requirements of the skills and their developments can be easily analysed with the help of the present report. The evaluation of the skills for starting a career opportunity in terms of the professional world and the knowledge of the job market system has been widely discussed in the report. The report is a task-based assignment divided into three different parts. The first task evaluated the essential skills for employability that can be effectively used by an individual in a workplace. The effectiveness of posing the skills are also discussed in the task. The second task is based on the analysis of the different qualities of an individual effectively impacting the skills development process. The analysis has been done on the basis of the SWOT analysis of individuals of a workplace. The third task possesses the qualities that are required to be developed by an individual in a business process for effective teamwork. The discussion has had been made for the effectiveness of the skills in the team working process as well.
Task 1: Professional skills for employability
Professional skills required for employees to be successful in a workplace
“Professional skills are career competencies and abilities used in the workplace that are beneficial for nearly any job”. The skills tend to be a combination of hard skills like the job-related duties of individual as well as soft skills like work ethics, leadership as well as communication (Rios, et al. 2020, p.25). “Professional skills can help you get a new job, advance positions, build workplace relationships and improve your job performance”. The hard skills can be developed through my training process whereas, the soft skills are the qualities that an individual possesses itself.

There are many professional skills that employees need to be successful in the workplace. Some of the most important skills are discussed below:
Communication skills: Effective communication is essential in any workplace. “It can be helpful in building strong interpersonal relationships at work and can also help convey messages easily”. Employees must be able to communicate their ideas, thoughts, and instructions clearly and concisely to their colleagues, superiors, and subordinates.
Teamwork: Collaboration and teamwork are critical to achieving organizational goals. Employees must be able to work effectively with others, build relationships, and contribute to a positive team culture (Pang, et al. 2019.p.55). The work may also include the senior and the co-workers for the completion of a particular project or a task as well.
Problem-solving: The ability to identify, analyse, and solve problems is essential for any employee. They must be able to think critically, find solutions to complex issues, and make informed decisions.
Adaptability: The workplace is constantly changing, and employees must be able to adapt to new situations, technologies, and processes. “It is important for professionals to be flexible so that they can adapt to every situation and find a solution”. The employees must be willing to learn and acquire new skills as required.
Time management: The ability to manage time effectively is essential for any employee. They must be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage their workload efficiently.
Leadership: Even if not in a formal leadership position, employees must have leadership qualities, including the ability to inspire, motivate, and influence others toward achieving common goals. “It then becomes the responsibility of the team leader to ensure that their team is productive and efficient” (Indeed.com, 2022). This may help the firm to achieve its goals and objectives easily with efficient strategies.
Emotional intelligence: Employees must have emotional intelligence, including the ability to understand and manage their emotions, as well as those of others. This helps to build positive relationships, manage conflicts, and promote a positive work environment. It tends to be one of the important qualities that can be effective in the professional world.
Professionalism: Professionalism includes a range of behaviours, such as being punctual, dependable, respectful, and accountable (Vasanthakumari, 2019.p.66). Employees must be able to maintain a professional demeanour and uphold the values and standards of their organization.
Possession of professional skills and related effectiveness in a workplace
Professional skills are the specific abilities and knowledge required for a particular job or profession. “It requires a combination of hard and soft skills that can help them perform their job well and succeed in their careers”. The professionals are being judged in terms of their skills to match the perspectives of the workplace or the company’s requirements. These skills can include technical, analytical, communication, leadership, problem-solving, time management, and teamwork skills, among others. The possession of professional skills can enhance the effectiveness of an employee in the workplace in several ways. Firstly, possessing professional skills enables an employee to complete their job duties effectively and efficiently. For example, a software engineer with strong technical skills can write clean code and solve complex problems quickly, leading to improved productivity. Secondly, possessing professional skills can enhance an employee’s ability to work well with others. Effective communication skills, for instance, can help employees to express themselves clearly, understand others’ perspectives, and build rapport with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders. Strong teamwork skills, on the other hand, enable employees to collaborate effectively with others to achieve common goals (Dreaver, et al. 2020.p.19). Thirdly, possessing professional skills can lead to career growth and advancement. As an employee demonstrates competence in their job duties, they can take on more challenging assignments, receive promotions, and gain more responsibility. This, in turn, can enhance their job satisfaction and motivation to perform at a high level.
Task 2: Personal SWOT analysis
A SWOT analysis framework is based on a framework for identifying factors like strengths, weaknesses, Opportunities as well as threats. It mainly helps in increasing the strengths and reducing the weakness by taking the opportunities available in the process (Al-Baldawi, et al. 2021.p.23). “A personal SWOT analysis is a tried and tested method of evaluating one’s strengths and weaknesses”.
Strengths:
Good communication skills
Communication skills in the professional actors can be used in different mediums like written, digital, oral as well as visual. Proper communication skills are required in a workplace that can be helpful in boosting the morale of the employees, and increasing satisfaction, engagement, and productivity as well.
Ability to learn quickly
The quick learning skill can be helpful for an employee to understand new information in a new workplace in a short time period (Waliszewski and Zięba, 2020.p.155). It can be easy for quick learners to apply their skills and abilities in the workplace.
Good problem-solving skills
If an individual is having “good problem-solving skills” can actively participate in the discussion can easily anticipate upcoming future problems and can also help to mitigate the issues with their skills and knowledge.
Weaknesses:
Lack of self-confidence at times
The confidence level of an individual plays a vital role in the professional environment. Therefore, lacking self-confidence, “leads to overly compliant or rebellious behaviour, making the work environment unpleasant and decreasing productivity, further leading to mental health issues” as well as miscommunication with the other members as well as results in effective errors in the thinking abilities of an individual.
Difficulty saying no
In a work field saying no to others tends to be a weakness as people may grab the opportunity of the behaviours and can use the ability of the individuals. it can also be taken as a weakness as it depicts the doubts this individual has over their capabilities in the professional field. This may also affect a major impact on the mind of the other employees to think of incapable of doing work.
Poor time management
Time management skills are one of the important skills possessed by professionals (Harrikari, et al. 2021.p.29). If the individual is poor in time management system in the workplace, this depicts the work process can be delayed and the project cannot be completed in the estimated time period. This may result in one of the major drawbacks for the individuals.
Opportunities:
Further education and training
The process of further education can be one of the biggest opportunities for an individual to develop their skills and education in the professional world. This may help to increase the level of output from the employees by increasing their efficiency. This may also develop the abilities of individuals as well.
Chance to develop new skills or interests
The training process in the workplace can result in developing new skills as well as interests of the individuals in a workplace. This may help the individual to face new challenges as well as problem-solving techniques.
Ability to work with diverse groups of people
Involvements of an individual in the workplace tend to be helpful in increasing the ability to work in different work environments with the involvements of diverse people. Therefore, the opportunity for cultural competence can be helpful in enhancing the ability to interact with different people with a different culture in the workplace as well.
Threats
Increasing competition in the job market
The competition level in the workplace or the job market acts as a threat. With a large number of competitors, it is difficult for an individual to get selected in a workplace.
Personal or family emergencies that may affect work performance
Another issue that may hamper the work performance of individuals can be the emergencies occurred in the family (Bradbury and Galloway, 2021, p.480). These issues cannot be avoided and needed to be faced in any circumstances. This may affect the employee mentally as well as their regularity with their job roles.
Health issues that may limit productivity or abilities
The health issues faced by individuals are also one pf the major issues for a professional employee. The health factor plays a vital role in work efficiency. Efficiency can be enhanced with positive health, and the issues with health may result in a decrease in work productivity.
Task 3: Development of the skills as an effective team worker
Effective team workers play a crucial role in achieving success in a variety of settings, whether it be in the workplace, sports teams, or community organizations. Effective team workers are able to collaborate with others in a positive and productive manner. They communicate clearly and respectfully, listen actively to others, and are willing to compromise to achieve the team’s goals. They are able to step up and lead when needed, even if they are not in an official leadership role. They are able to motivate and inspire others, delegate tasks appropriately, and make decisions that benefit the team as a whole (Guinan, et al. 2019, p.717). They recognize the strengths and weaknesses of their teammates and are able to offer help when needed and take responsibility for their own actions and hold themselves accountable to the team’s goals and expectations. They approach work challenges with a positive attitude and are willing to brainstorm creative solutions.
Skills required to be an effective team worker
Communication Skills: Being able to effectively communicate with team members is critical. This includes both speaking and listening. Active listening and clear, concise communication are essential for effective teamwork.
Collaboration Skills: Teamwork requires collaboration, which means working together towards a common goal. Being able to work with others, share ideas and responsibilities, and respect other team members’ opinions and contributions are key to successful teamwork.
Flexibility: Teamwork often involves working on complex projects or tasks that require flexibility and adaptability (Manfredi, 2019.p.23). Being able to adjust to changing circumstances, handle ambiguity, and be open to new ideas is important.
Time Management: Meeting deadlines and completing tasks in a timely manner is crucial for team success. Good time management skills involve setting priorities, planning, and organizing work efficiently.
Conflict Resolution: Conflicts may arise in any team, and being able to resolve them effectively is critical. This requires good communication skills, empathy, and the ability to negotiate and compromise.
Emotional Intelligence: Being aware of your own emotions and those of others is important for effective teamwork. Emotionally intelligent team members are better able to manage their own emotions, recognize others’ emotions, and respond appropriately.
Problem-solving: Working as a team often involves solving complex problems. Being able to analyse information, identify solutions, and make decisions collaboratively is important for effective teamwork.
Development of Leadership Skills
Leaders, as well as their skills, are one of the important parts of a workplace which plays a vital role in enhancing performance and leading to the growth of a business. “Leadership refers to the process of influencing the behaviour of people in a manner that they strive willingly and enthusiastically towards the achievement of group objectives”. Leaders are responsible to inspire their team members to perform at their best level to bring out productive work from them. Therefore, developing leadership skills takes time, effort, and practice (Samarasinghe, and Samarasinghe, 2019.p.24). The improvements of leadership skills can be done in the following effective ways:
Set a clear vision: As a leader, it’s essential to have a clear vision for your team or organization. The employee should know where to go and communicate the aspects of the vision to the team.
Communicate effectively: Effective communication is a critical component of leadership. The individual should be able to communicate their vision clearly, listen to feedback from the team, and also provide feedback to the other members.
Setting an example to the team: The employee or the leader should model the behaviour you want to see in your team. If you want your team to be punctual, responsible, and hardworking, then you should be those things yourself.
Build relationships: good leaders build strong relationships with their team members. You should take the time to get to know your team members, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and provide support and guidance when needed.
Learn from failure: No one is perfect, and every leader makes mistakes. The key is to learn from those mistakes and use them as opportunities for growth and development.
Continuously improve: Leadership is a journey, not a destination. You should always be looking for ways to improve your skills, knowledge, and abilities.
Empower others: Great leaders empower their team members to take ownership of their work and make decisions. You should delegate responsibilities and provide the resources and support needed to succeed.

The overall report helps to analyse the importance of professional skills and the importance of their development in the workplace. Professional skills are vital for employees to be successful in the workplace, and it’s important for individuals to continuously develop and improve these skills throughout their careers (DuBrin, 2022.p.368). Therefore it may be concluded that possession of professional skills is crucial for effectiveness in the workplace. Employees who possess professional skills are more productive, effective collaborators, and have better career prospects. The Personal SWOT analysis can be effectively helpful for the professional to identify their strengths and weaknesses and work over the improvements of the abilities and the issues by taking the available opportunities in the particular time period. This may also help in enhancing the performance of the individual for a long run process. Effective team workers are essential to the success of any team. They bring a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and collaborative spirit that helps the team achieve its goals. Effective teamwork requires a combination of technical, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills. Therefore, by developing these skills, team workers can improve their ability to work effectively with others and achieve success as a team. It can also be said that developing leadership skills tends to be an ongoing process. Therefore, by practicing and learning, individuals can become more effective leaders over time.
