The assessment of the weeks is provided below:
Week 2
Week 2 is about emotions in three aspects such as;
- Introduction to Emotional Intelligence
- Enhancing the emotional
- Introduction to academic writing
I believe that each of these three elements is highly essential for my academic career as developing and working on these elements can provide me better opportunities to shine in this field in future and will also assist me in working on my negative points. In this week I have learnt that, “emotion” is a certain feeling or a set of distinctive thoughts that leads people towards a certain mental state (Kanesan and Fauzan, 2019). On the other, hand when it comes to “emotional intelligence” I have found that it includes 5 distinctive elements, such as; relief of stress, effective communication, emphasizing with others, overcoming challenges and finally diffusing the conflicts.
What engages me?
I believe that the concept of EI or emotional intelligence has captured my attention significantly. One of the specific aspects that engages me is the way through which I can manage my own emotions and connect with others. Personally, I have found that applying emotional intelligence has assisted me in navigating some of the challenging group projects more efficiently (MacCann et al. 2020). Instead of reacting impulsively towards the conflicts I have managed to learn the way of recognizing different sets of perspectives and emotions at the same time. I have been working to enhance my emotional intelligence by practising mindfulness. By the time of facing the pressure of tight deadlines and demanding assignments, I have started to take short breaks to re-centre my own thoughts. Finally, I believe that the idea of improving my academic writing skills is also equally essential for me. I believe that the engagement might stem from the actual realization of having strong academic writing skills that can assist me in articulating the understanding clearly.
What surprised me?
During the weekly session the thing that surprised me the most of the death impact that emotional intelligence can have on my personal and professional interactions. Also while recognizing the role in effective communication, empathy and conflict resolution has been an eye-opening aspect for me (Fteiha and Awwad, 2020). However, still the current time, I haven’t managed to fully grasp the way of enhancing emotional intelligence which can lead me to establish significant improvements and collaboration.
How this can potentially impact my employability and wealth creation?
From my own area of understanding, I strongly believe that the development of emotional intelligence can greatly enhance the scope of employability through strategically fostering strong and resilient teamwork and communication abilities. I have learnt that most employers value those individuals who can collaborate, manage conflicts and empathize the tasks in an efficient manner. These abilities influence prospects for wealth generation by increasing the likelihood of promotions and leadership positions, in addition to creating a favourable work atmosphere
Week 3
Week 3 elaborated on three elements such as,
- Physical intelligence
- Physical intelligence in the workplace
- Understanding the social intelligence
In the week I have learnt about the above aspects through participating in different activities. In Activity 1 of the Week 3 seminar, my tutor reflected on takeaway points regarding the topic in Ten minutes. I have come to know that social intelligence is also known as interpersonal intelligence as it studies the ability of individuals to notice some of the distinctions between themselves and others (Sitti, 2021). I believe this week’s learning is very intriguing and as a learner, I need to take note of the elements and try to apply them in real life for gaining more career growth options.
What engages me?
The Weeks’s exploration regarding physical intelligence has intrigued me about the role of this aspect in actual workplaces. Not just that the intricacies of social intelligence have engaged me a lot. The main points conveyed in just 10 minutes during Activity 1 with my tutor were eye-opening and had a long-lasting impression (Ubago-Jiménez et al. 2019). I found it interesting to learn that social intelligence is fundamentally about comprehending not only other people but also the little differences that make us unique. Since these insights look like useful resources for both personal development and work success, I’m genuinely eager to implement them into my everyday activities and professional development.
What surprised me?
I was shocked by the unanticipated finding that social intelligence and interpersonal intelligence are related. It was quite enlightening to learn that it entails not only knowing others but also appreciating how unique each person is. My comprehension of social relationships and personal growth is deepened by this new viewpoint.
How this can potentially impact my employability and wealth creation?
I strongly believe that understanding and applying social and physical intelligence can significantly boost my employability. A dynamic workplace demands adaptability, which is enhanced by improved physical intelligence. Better communication and teamwork are fostered by social intelligence, two important talents that companies look for. By utilising these skills, I may be able to grow professionally and possibly open up more prospects for income generation.
