Introduction
This paper seeks to build an innovative research on developing a proposal of converting the Primark Building located in High Wycombe into a cinema theater complex. For Progress Planning, the project involves the more specific redesign of the ground floor, first floor, as well as the second floor so that at the end of the day, the returns, the profits that are likely to be made on the investment that is being put into it can make customers satisfied.
1. Description
1.1 Project Background
My nine classmates and I have decided to do a project for cinema together. I completed slides 8, and 9 in the PowerPoint; my fellow classmates completed the other slides. One of the clients of the project is Progress Planning, which focuses on redeveloping the Primark Building in High Wycombe with the intention of turning it into a movie theater. I stated While moving to the second floor of the cinema within the building of Primark, I cannot but noticed the impressive photo-shooting rooftop. It was apparent that the vast opportunity of free space for sitting was made on the terrace and I could imagine myself sitting and enjoying the great view. The specialty café corners was the next thing which attracted me most, the coffees they served along with the pastries were great to have some nice time. I was already seeing myself drinking freshly brewed coffee from a cup. The addition of the meeting rooms was also great because it allowed for space for meetings, other community functions, and Film club meetings making people feel as if they are all a team of some sort with a common purpose. As the final addition, it is also possible to notice that restrooms are provided for all guests, being placed deliberately well. The second and last floor of my cinemas was planned to the greatest detail, hence it really raised the bar of comfort, practicality and even a hint of classy chic to an exceptional level.
1.2 Pitch Development
As the assistant for Progress Planning, I can provide the following insights about the project to redevelop the Primark Building in High Wycombe into a dynamic cinema destination: The major development objective of this project is to convert an existing building into High Wycombe’s new cineplex that will provide a variety of forms of entertainment to patrons. Laying down the plans on the ground, first and second floor, the following presents a layout of the plans proposed to give a cinematic feel (Betts, 2023).
Think of walking into the second floor of the cinema hall existing within the premises of the Primark building and every aspect of the hall engineered to provide the best experience. Lastly, there is a spectacular rooftop terrace which is good for use in photo shoots and affords marvelous views of the countryside. This calls for comfortable sit outs great for lazing around accompanied by a cup of freshly brewed coffee from the specially designed coffee corners that house various coffees and baked goodies. Community participation and arts features have been designed while innovative and modern meeting facilities can be provided that would suit the needs of a film society group or other local groups. These rooms are created to develop the relations and to provoke the communication. seriously designed washrooms are functional to cater the need for all the visitors for dashing to the washrooms anytime. This particular second floor is not just a cinema, it is a multipurpose space that is intended to create an environment of relaxation with the ability to interact, and several functionality components. Welcome to the palace where fun and quality are equal and each time you come in, it feels like a royal occasion.
2. Feelings
At the initial stage of the task making when my classmates and I were deciding to complete the given project for the cinema, I had only the feeling of eagerness. The team initially showed enthusiasm for a real-world project, but as the project progressed, their impatience and irritability increased to 54%, possibly due to complexity, stakeholder interests, or resource challenges. The fact of having the possibility to work on a real project for a client as a Progress Planning company was an excellent chance to use a lot of theoretical information and gain practical experience (Spring, Faulconbridge and Sarwar, 2022). I was eager to do a group assignment with other participants and work together with all our skills and knowledge to come up with a proposal and idea on how to undertake the transformation of the Primark Building into a movie theater. Having begun creating the slides for the said project, I was enthusiastically looking forward to conducting research in order to detect the goals and expectations of the client, as well as the needs and wants of the target audience. This is the reason I felt the need to make certain that the design we should be proposing along with the added facilities would indeed be able to complement a movie-going experience and optimise the revenues for our client. According to the given slides 4, 5, and 6, the further project seems coherent and logical, and the work overall aligns with the objectives and expectations of the client. On a practical note, he has provided rest rooms, food kiosks, a large leisure area called the ‘lobby’ and spacious parking areas indicating he understands the need of the movie going crowd (Zhou, 2021).
I have special concern with the use of the first floor where there are several means of display and other active involvement. This is evident by the inclusion of ticket counters, snack bar, game room and a baby’s corner which inform the society that their theater hall targets families and everyone who might want to enjoy themselves. Having a lounge area with specialised services and small screens on which they show movie trailers to movie spectators produces a positive view of the whole movie-watching experience (Waller, 2023). In summary, I’m proud of the work and the efforts of my colleagues and I in realizing this project plan. I am confident that aesthetic care and contingencies will enforce the general outlook and ultimately be of significance to the client and success of conversion of the Primark Building into an exceptional movie theater.
3. Evaluation
3.1 What Went Well
Since I was a part of the team which developed this project in the context of the cinema redevelopment of the Primark Building in High Wycombe, there are some strengths that I identified. However, the first major perception that is given in the project plan is a detailed proposal of the ground floor, first, and second floors of the cinema complex. The descriptions of concrete features of the layout and general arrangement of the commercial establishment on each floor like parking space, reception hall, ticket counters, coffee shops, fast food centers, dining area, etc. interactive show gaming with theaters reflect a clear perception of the client’s need as well as the identified target clientele. In addition, in the project plan sustainable awareness is made that the goal for the cinematic space of the community should cover not only the missing functionality but also present the view of a complete and intriguing film experience (Bradecki, Hallova and Stangel, 2022). Some of the functional features that form part of the plan include; the addition of a gaming room, arcade, and children’s play area, as well as luxury screening rooms, all of which contributes to responding to the various needs and wants of the community (Youssef, 2021). This shift is a commendable move since it demonstrates attention to details that will benefit the clients through positive improvements in their returns on investment. The hypothetical redevelopment project involves a SWOT analysis to determine strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, demonstrating logical reasoning and considering project viability and success probabilities.
In addition, the project plan also features details about the client, namely Progress Planning, specializing in urban development and town planning, participation in the sustainable engagement of the community and provision of highest ROI. Thus, the approach in client’s priorities and abilities is essential to align the proposed solutions in a specific organization.
3.2 What Didn’t Go Well
While the project plan has many positive aspects, there are a few areas that I would consider for improvement. In particular, it may be helpful for the overall plan to provide a more detailed analysis of the current marketplace, concerning the competitive environment, demographic characteristics of the target audience, and potential market developments. This additional information could be useful in; This additional information would possibly assist in narrowing down the proposed solutions and the implementation of the same to suit the High Wycombe community. Furthermore, regarding the financial component of the plan, the potential profitability of the plan is displayed optimistically, but more explanations with qualitative and probably quantitative assumptions along with the sensitivity analyses could have been provided (Magni, Marchioni and Baschieri, 2022). It would be useful to apply methods that offer a broader perspective of the possible financial harms to enable the client to make more rational decisions concerning the executable projects by assessment of the feasibility of the project.
Moreover, the plan could look at ways of possibly expanding other income-generating activities apart from the primary straight cinema business; for example, collaborations with cinemas or other companies or entities in the area, or renting out the Rooney for particular events or occasions, including the already mentioned penthouse rooftop terrace as an attractive venue. It could be suggested to diversify the income sources to strengthen and promote the project’s sustainability in the long term under the fluctuations of the economy. Finally, the plan might expand the company’s management’s views on stakeholder engagement by providing more details about expectations for involvement of local authorities or other community organizations (Lyulyov et al., 2023). This would show a better and more comprehensive style of how necessary support and commitment to underpin this plan of redevelopment can be attained and secured. All in all, despite the fact that the general project plan is well developed, these weaknesses could suggest several ways of improving the proposal and augmenting the probabilities of the client’s success in the process of transforming the Primark Building into a popular and successful cinema complex in High Wycombe. I am a member of 14% of the UK population and I am a wonderful asset in any sector because of my skilled hunting strategy. I also exhibit determination, confidence, and flexibility.
4. Analysis
4.1 Teamwork Reflection
A useful technique for determining behavioral strengths and weaknesses in the workplace is Belbin’s Team Roles hypothesis. It makes it easier for myself, teams, and organizations to accomplish goals more successfully. The team achieved an 84 on “communicating vision,” demonstrating their ability to articulate project objectives, foster a strong team dynamic, and achieve timely delivery and efficient problem-solving. Belbin Individual reports are produced following the completion of surveys; they are current and provide helpful guidance. The theory is useful in the job since it makes me more aware of my advantages, which improves teamwork and communication. Action-oriented positions like Implementer and Shaper concentrate on achieving deadlines, executing ideas, and enhancing team performance (Aranzabal, Epelde and Artetxe, 2022). A film project’s potential to succeed largely depends on its capacity to develop a culture of open communication, responsibility, and respect among its members. The team’s diverse skill sets which include project management, design, advertising, and software development enable communication and problem-solving. Timeliness for projects and problem solving are ensured by keeping lines of communication open (Igbinenikaro, Oladipo and Augustine, 2024). On the other hand, inadequate communication, insufficient teamwork, and disagreements can cause a project to fail, which can result in missed deadlines, subpar production, and higher expenses. For a movie project to succeed, it is crucial to foster a strong team dynamic, encourage open communication, and guarantee collaboration.
4.2 Teamwork Analysis
I feel the pitch presentation for Progress Planning was useful because it was provided with grounds about the layout and facilities for the floor, first and second floors of the cinema facility. The plan on the ground floor directed the parking space, entry points, in addition to a large lobby, with ME retailers. For ticket counters, snack bars and dining areas on the first floor of the cinema theater Discuss in detail. On the first floor of the cinema theater there were ticket counters, snack bars, dining areas, areas of gaming, rooms for showing interactive movies as well as luxury screened rooms. Such details and considerations assisted in strengthening the belief of Progress Planning towards the team as they worked to bring Planes’ vision into a redeveloped project plan.
4.3 Self-Evaluation of Strengths and Weaknesses
I can assess my own strengths and weaknesses with the use of the Johari Window, which improves both my team and my own self-awareness. They are able to recognize their professional strengths and shortcomings as I am able to construct a visual depiction of my personality. The section on strengths concentrates on my advantages at work, whereas the one on weaknesses looks at possible problems in particular circumstances or how other people see me. The Johari Window paradigm improves comprehension and self-awareness and is a useful tool for both professional and personal development (Kratzer, 2020). It depends on feedback and conversation to gain understanding of other people’s experiences.
4.4 Self-Evaluation of Leadership and Management Skills
Evaluations of a manager’s capacity for persuasion, planning, and problem-solving can provide insight into their leadership and management abilities, qualities that are critical for career growth. Setting targets and goals that lead to the goal are part of these talents. Emphasizes the significant impact of an ENFJ-T’s leadership and management skills, including optimism, purpose, motivation, risk-taking, teamwork, empathy, and creativity, on organizational performance. A multitude of abilities come together to form a leader, including the capacity for risk-taking, teamwork, empathy, active listening, patience, dependability, dependability, creativity, and optimism (Marn, 2024). It also requires prompt communication, effective feedback, and the capacity to mentor and educate. Strong teams and successful project execution are built by effective leaders, who are vital to any kind of business. I can practice and improve my leadership skills by concentrating on a variety of interpersonal and communication skills. Effective leaders facilitate a healthy work atmosphere, boost employee engagement, and remove roadblocks for their team. They are also contagious, motivating me to use their great leadership qualities when I work with colleagues. All things considered, a leader’s effectiveness or ineffectiveness may greatly affect an organisation’s performance.
5. Conclusion
5.1 Summary of Key Learnings
The project on high-street regeneration for a cinema complex in High Wycombe highlighted commitment to detail, planning processes for customer convenience, and ROI optimization. Offering customers with variety, experience, and choice by providing totality solutions including different food services and concepts, movie interactive exhibits and children’s play areas are important considerations when shaping a cinema destination (Fasolo, 2021). Moreover, I realised the importance of engaging relevant stakeholders, including local government and non-governmental organisations, in the context of the ever-growing legislation and the changing needs of the population. The assessment of the concept of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats was critical to formulating strategies that can address challenges or exploit opportunities to enhance the performance of the project. Moreover, I discovered that like many start-ups, I would need to start with a lot of funding although the revenue generation must be done with the delivery of unique products and services and partnership with other organisations. Advancing in technologies as a way of improving the perception of movie and film was also deemed as another major aspect of maintaining a competitive edge.
In conclusion, this project has been a very enriching process that allowed myself and the team to gain a profound appreciation for the issue of urban redevelopment, especially in the areas of community participation and problem-solving when it comes to developing a viable and inclusive cinema space.
5.2 Personal Growth
My professional and personal development have really benefited from this endeavour. First of all, it has enriched my problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and ability to optimise the cinema experience, as I had to consider the finer details of the development plan, taking into account the intricacies of the stakeholders, and providing the best ways to enhance the experience at the cinema. Secondly, I have benefitted from this project in a manner that improved my communication and teamwork interfaces. Teaming up my classmates to synchronise these facets of the delivering presentation, and successfully integrating input from all participants has strengthened my understanding of how to work and effectively negotiate in a team.
Furthermore, analysing the project’s aspects and evaluating the details of its profitability, including the calculation of gross and net profit rates, and the rate of profitability, I have managed to develop my financial skills in making wise decisions. It has helped me to develop the ability to decide on the viability of a project as well as other related issues. Lastly, this project has imprinted in me the idea of developing an interest in urban development and innovation to turn a blind spot in the city that is of no significance, into a center of activities and thriving life (Buckman, 2023). The chance to investigate the processes connected to the Primark Building redevelopment has only fueled my passion to develop a career for myself in a field that deals with transforming cities for the better, and improving people’s lives as they inhabit the spaces in these urban environments.
