5. Conclusion 

5.1 Summary of Key Learnings 

The project on high-street regeneration for a cinema complex in High Wycombe highlighted commitment to detail, planning processes for customer convenience, and ROI optimization. Offering customers with variety, experience, and choice by providing totality solutions including different food services and concepts, movie interactive exhibits and children’s play areas are important considerations when shaping a cinema destination (Fasolo, 2021). Moreover, I realised the importance of engaging relevant stakeholders, including local government and non-governmental organisations, in the context of the ever-growing legislation and the changing needs of the population. The assessment of the concept of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats was critical to formulating strategies that can address challenges or exploit opportunities to enhance the performance of the project. Moreover, I discovered that like many start-ups, I would need to start with a lot of funding although the revenue generation must be done with the delivery of unique products and services and partnership with other organisations. Advancing in technologies as a way of improving the perception of movie and film was also deemed as another major aspect of maintaining a competitive edge.

In conclusion, this project has been a very enriching process that allowed myself and the team to gain a profound appreciation for the issue of urban redevelopment, especially in the areas of community participation and problem-solving when it comes to developing a viable and inclusive cinema space.

 

5.2 Personal Growth 

My professional and personal development have really benefited from this endeavour.  First of all, it has enriched my problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and ability to optimise the cinema experience, as I had to consider the finer details of the development plan, taking into account the intricacies of the stakeholders, and providing the best ways to enhance the experience at the cinema. Secondly, I have benefitted from this project in a manner that improved my communication and teamwork interfaces. Teaming up my classmates to synchronise these facets of the delivering presentation, and successfully integrating input from all participants has strengthened my understanding of how to work and effectively negotiate in a team.

 

Furthermore, analysing the project’s aspects and evaluating the details of its profitability, including the calculation of gross and net profit rates, and the rate of profitability, I have managed to develop my financial skills in making wise decisions. It has helped me to develop the ability to decide on the viability of a project as well as other related issues. Lastly, this project has imprinted in me the idea of developing an interest in urban development and innovation to turn a blind spot in the city that is of no significance, into a center of activities and thriving life (Buckman, 2023). The chance to investigate the processes connected to the Primark Building redevelopment has only fueled my passion to develop a career for myself in a field that deals with transforming cities for the better, and improving people’s lives as they inhabit the spaces in these urban environments.
