Strategic Management

1.1 Plastic Reduction Strategy Proposition

The problems of the plastic pollution are causing large range of problems starting from the water to air as well as the major issues of what is known as the landfill problem. Some countries are increasingly affected with this plastic pollution and landfill risk, and some are comparatively less affected that is important to note and also to be pointed out (Ayeleru et al., 2020). However, amongst all the differences between the countries and their international relations, the United Nations that identified the increasing waste caused by the plastic as a serious issue and many of the countries are working towards the elimination and prevention of further issues that is pivotal to understand (Van Rensburg, S’phumelele & Dube, 2020). In this study, the plastic reduction has been taken as the goal and the various strategies to reduce, prevent and more so, eliminate this plastic waste problem completely has been mentioned and analysed.

1.1Plastic Reduction Strategy

It is extremely vital to understand that it is the increased use of plastics in the packaging domain as well as transportation and the instrumentation industry domain that os primary leading to the increased and unbearable levels of the plastic waste around the world and this is impacting the local communities too. Hence, it can be said, as it has been pointed out that more than one company or industry from a certain segment is adding up to the plastic waste issue (Yuan et al., 2020). And for example, Apple is one of the multinational corporations who are also bought under legal radar and charged, many a time with this major risk and issue of creating and adding to the plastic waste that is important. So even the well known and one of the most valued organisations of the world is adding to plastic issue and that is why due to legal regulations pertaining to the corporate social responsibility, many companies like the big five consulting companies and others in the fortune 500 list is moving to digital leadership and use of biodegradable plastic that is important to understand. For the company here as well, the new strategy to reduce the use and the waste caused by the plastic can be encouraging the use of biodegradable plastic as well as the use of more of digital leadership so that the products can be delivered online that is important, a strategy for plastic reduction as well. The new plastic types such as the Polyethylene Terephthalate, Polyvinyl Chloride, Polystyrene, Polycarbonate, and the Low-Density Polyethylene can used that are quite recyclable in nature and will reduce the plastic use problem as well that is important (Bharti and Sharma, 2021). Even shifting to materials like the cardboard boxes and others that are completely recyclable can be other substitutions which can lead to the development of proper outcomes.

1.2: Strategic Goals

The strategic goals planned here are focussed to improve the external as well as the external performance of the company that is important to note and understand as well. The use of plastic as it can be understood can be devasting to the customers and the other external stakeholders of the company as the company will be seen and perceived as less sustainable and thus on the overall, the brand image of the organisation will increase. Even the company that adds to the plastic wastes are seen as negative by the local and global communities and everybody is more aware of the plastic issue whose addressing is cardinal for promotion and improvement of what is called the environmental sustainability (Wohner et al. 2019). That is why, in order to maintain the organisation’s brand trust and image in the right way and also to elevate the long-term performance of the business done by the company – it is vital to plan the strategic goals effectively and that should be following the SMART criteria that has been given as follows.

And the new quality goals pertaining to the internal and the external environmental management and the operational excellence promoting the use of new plastics (that are biodegradable in nature) – are the many examples of the new recommended strategy that will not only help the company here – reduce plastic waste but also add to brand trust (Wichai-utcha and Chavalparit, 2019). This will help in the betterment of the overall organisational performance and with the corporate social responsibility goals that are chiefly targeted to reduce the very effects of environmental pollution caused by the excessive plastic use – will also be addressed. The corporate social responsibility register is very important for the company personnel’s and the directors to make the evaluation of the environmental sustainability practices done over the period of years and the months and this will address the vision and mission of becoming a highly sustainable organisation. When with the new technological leadership, the digital innovations will be made that will add to the sustainability and quality objectives of the given organisation here.

1.4 Strategic Risks

There can in fact be a number of complex risks pending to the development of the strategic implementation of the strategic plans and investments.
