Task 2: Reflective Writing

Concrete experience

Local cultures of a country are the key generators of revenue with enhanced profit in business domains as well as for country based Government bodies. In this case, I have learnt that Sri Lanka has a diverse culture of traditions and wildlife which are the attraction factors of international tourists. Understanding local culture is effective for understanding consumer demands and resulting in improvement of tour and travel with other business industries (Dai et al. 2019). Three of the major cultures of Sri Lanka were identified such as fishing, food and cuisines with travel and wildlife. I have used a model of Kolb’s reflective learning model from which I have been able to gather more experience in the case of multiple cultures of Sri Lanka.

Reflective observation is an aspect which provides a chance to a learner in case of any particular incident. In this case, I have collected secondary information related to aspects of Sri Lanka based on different cultures and traditions from authentic sources. I have further made questions to professors and teachers to present a better learning outcome of finding Sri Lanka based traditions and cultures such as food, travel, fishing and wildlife. Due to an application of this model I have successfully reached a better selection of brand DNA for this study.

Abstract conceptualisation

During this study, gathering secondary data about Sri Lanka based cultures has been effective for me to make logical ideas with understanding problems or situations. After gathering information about the fishing industry, food industry, travel and wildlife, I have been able to understand effectiveness of these industries in receiving better revenue for Sri Lanka. Due to these data gathering, I have been able to make a systematic plan to select a better brand DNA for industrial perspectives for Sri Lanka. As a result, Kolb’s learning model was advantageous for me to improve my learning capabilities.

Active experimentation

I have gathered a concrete experience about the cultures of this country and their effectiveness to enhance revenue and profits of Sri Lankan government. However, I think, a primary data collection for understanding key segments and cultural aspects of Sri Lanka would have been more effective to gather data. Understanding significance of different cultures of Sri Lanka would have been easier because of selecting primary data collection as a model.

Class lectures have helped me to write reflection properly and this has been effective for me to understand effectiveness’s of different Sri Lankan traditions and cultures. I have learnt about effectiveness of Sri Lankan cultures in terms of benefits in country-based revenue generation. As asserted by Childs et al. (2022), an exploration of divergent and convergent thinking is the two of the essential aspects of a reflective writing module. According to my perception, solving most problems requires a convergent as well as a divergent thinking process to get a result with an increased effectiveness. In this case, I have received an enhanced convergent and divergent thinking process which would be effective for me to further enhance my academic results. A better divergent thinking is also effective to generate more possibilities to a certain problem and therefore a better problem-solving skill is achieved (Acar and Runco, 2019). Both these convergent and divergent thinking was helpful for me to make a better outcome of exploration of brand DNA for this study.
