Introduction
Ready meals have become a crowd favorite.
Plastics are being used as a packaging material.
It provides with various health impacts.
With the world becoming fast paced, the food industry has rapidly risen to the forefront, to provide the people with ready meals on the go. In the modern era, plastics, Aluminum foils and various other materials form the primary packaging. Although, it does reduce on the amount of waste and prevents the effect of microorganisms on the food, the packaging itself can affect the quality of the food. Plastics and the hand washing techniques have a greater role to play in these scenarios.
Health concerns due to plastic liners
The rodent reproductive organs are affected by BPA.
It is the embryos or fetuses, that are impacted.
During preimplantation, it thrives on the fetuses.
A large portion of the food industry, makes extensive use of Bisphenol A, or BPA, which when consumed by the consumers can impact the development of the rodent reproductive organs. The pregnant women are more vulnerable to the health impacts of BPA. It is the embryos or the fetuses, that forms to be the primary hunting ground for BPA. During the period of preimplantation, at normal doses, its impact on the embryos was significant. There are health concerns more than one associated with BPA.
Plastic packaging technologies
Plastic packaging increases health hazards.
Bisphenol A is the primary component.
It leaches into the food materials easily, causing health concerns.
It is the innovative technologies, pertaining to food packaging, that has raised the concerns about the increase in the number of hazards. The hazards are generally a result of the shift of the materials needed to pack the good, into the packaged form of goods. Bisphenol A, or commonly known as BPA, are found in liners of the packaging materials, that can migrate into the food products. When it involves cases of meat and cheese, the rate is considerably higher.
Techniques to improve plastic packaging
Plastics also cause climatic changes.
The process is not simple to eradicate the use of plastics.
Less plastic must be used in packaging.
Apart from being one of the most vital aspects, that tends to drive health concerns of people, plastics have been one of the most significant factors, when it comes to climatic changes. In order to reduce the impact of plastics on the people and the weather, the process may not appear to be simpler. One of the most important ways to combat the use of plastics would be to look out for ways to identify lighter packaging with lesser plastics (Warnock, 2019).
Contd.
Plastics are here to stay in the future.
The process of recycling must commence at once.
Biodegradable plastics are gaining momentum in the food industry as well.
Plastics always find the top spot on the priority list of the people of the modern era. It appears paradoxical, but with all the negative aspects of plastics, the actual use of plastics is to increased in the recent future. Therefore, to combat the issue, it becomes important enough to consider recycled materials, or getting rid of plastic packaging entirely. It would drive greater costumers, when a recycling method is adopted by a business venture. Yet another alternative would be make use of biodegradable plastic (Wallace et al. 2018).
Improving the hand washing techniques and related health concerns due to improper hand washing techniques
Hand washing is important to every food business venture.
It determines the quality of food.
Respiratory problems can arise due to the same.
Warm water must be used while washing hands.
Soap tends to become a must for everyone.
Hands must be washed for at least 20 minutes.
Before the food is handled, hands must be washed.
It must be washed when the food is processed.
During coughing or sneezing, hand should always be washed.
The hand washing techniques falls under scrutiny, as and when it involves the food industry. Washing the hands forms to be one of the most important aspects of every food company. There can be a wide range of health issues that can come up without proper washing of the hands. Among several diseases, respiratory problems are the most significant one’s. It is with the proper techniques of hand washing, that the chances drop by sixteen to twenty one percent of catching such diseases (Schanbacher, 2019).
Researchers are of the opinion that, when hand washing techniques are followed in the truest of senses, it can single-handedly prevent the spread of various diseases. It is the areas of food preparation that requires the maximum of attention, and compliance levels (Devaux et al. 2020). Among the best practices, it includes the following:
- Hands must be washed with warm water.
- Soap must be applied.
- It is for a minimum of twenty minutes, that the hands must be rubbed together.
- Finally the soap must be rinsed from the hands.
When the common senses are applied, it indicates that before the food is handled, hands must be washed. But, it is not the only point in time that the hands must be washed, during the food processing methods, it must also be done so. Before the food is handled; after the body parts are being touched; after the washrooms have been used; while coughing or sneezing; or during a change in shift, hands must be washed. These practices can better the quality of food and services (Kamath, 2018).
Education to health hygiene
The approach of the business venture is key towards the quality of food.
It is important to educate the staff members.
It can help reduce use of plastics.
For a business venture that deals with preparing ready meals for its customers, a lot of hard work goes in from the processes to preparing the meals to packing them into proper packages. During the entire cycle, the people involved are to be careful about their approaches to the entire process, as it may well and truly affect the health of various people consuming the food. One of most important ways to improve the quality of food, would be to make the people aware of the harmful impacts of unhealthy hand washing techniques and the process of packaging food (Sullivan et al. 2017).
Conclusion
Food packaging is important.
The plastic packaging requires caution.
Hand washing should also be checked.
When it comes to food packaging, it encompasses various aspects other than just storing food. The food must be kept healthy, fresh and have a prolonged life. With regards to the use of plastic packaging and hand washing techniques, they form the fundamentals to prove upon the quality of food. The hand washing techniques forms a must for the employees to follow, for they may influence the health concerns of the people consuming the food.
