1. Introduction
1.1 Background
Covid-19 pandemic has affected the aviation industry that led to a loss of revenue and made difficulties in passenger traffic and demands of air cargo. During the pandemic orders from the government were to stop the services in order to keep the people safe.
Improvements in the aviation sector have been the major concern in order to generate more revenue with the help of technologies like AI (Artificial Intelligence), Data science, etc.
1.2 Rationale
The aviation industry has seen a loss of revenue during the covid-19 pandemic and there is a great demand for improvements. The major issue revolves around the loss of revenue and safety of passengers involved in aviation business (Gisario et al. 2019). Cloud environments can be effective in making improved plans in the aviation sector by redefining the plans with stakeholders of a business. Loss of revenue is an issue in the aviation industry as it is providing negative impacts in managing the facilities that are to be provided to customers (Chaudhary et al. 2020). Social distancing is followed and the passengers are ordered to take the protection and use sanitizers (Eschen et al. 2018).
Safety measures include managing the load factors of passengers as huge gatherings of people are restricted during the pandemic. This proposal is done in order to provide the ideas of improvements to the aviation industry for bringing improvements in revenue (Gisario et al. 2019). Implementing the technology of Artificial Intelligence to handle all the processes will help in maintaining social distancing and bring huge revenue. The cloud environment has provided an opportunity for the aviation industry to work with stakeholders and plan ideas for improvements (Eschen et al. 2018).
2. Research question
A study on the effects of corona in the aviation industry led to the formation of research questions that will be answered in this proposal and the questions are discussed below.

● What will be the improvement plans in the aviation industry?
● What will be the strategies for future developments in the aviation industry?
3. Aims and objects
Aim of this research study will be to discuss the effects of corona in the aviation industry and provide plans for improvements.
Major objectives for this research proposal on the effects of the pandemic in aviation industry is

● To analyze the improvement plans that are needed in the aviation industry
● To recommend strategies for future developments in aviation industry
4. Literature review
4.1 Concept of the aviation industry
The aviation sector deals with all manufacturing of aircraft and their performance along with generating huge revenue. Safety in the aviation industry is the major concern as risks to lives are involved in this business (Karim et al. 2020). The air traffic controller looks into safety matters and is responsible for directing the pilots for a safe landing. The safety of passengers includes medical help and self-help services that need to be focused on during emergencies (Chaudhary et al. 2020).
There are huge demands for air travel and facilities of safe travel are provided to passengers by providing guidelines. Aviation industry needs improvements to generate revenues and make improvements in the GDP (Rimmer, 2020). Aviation industry uses radar technology to locate places and manage air traffic during cloudy conditions in order to make efficient landings and make a safe journey for passengers (Tay et al. 2020).
4.2 Theories and models
Schumpeter’s innovation theory
Schumpeter’s theory speaks about earning profits using innovation and this research will provide innovative actions for improvements in the aviation sector (Chatzinikolaou and Vlados, 2019).
There are two categories in Schumpeter’s theory and they are explained below.
First category deals with activities that are essential for a reduction in the cost of production and this research discussions about improvements will be done based on innovation. Technical innovation will lead to huge improvements and provide opportunities for generating huge revenues (Chatzinikolaou and Vlados, 2019).
Second category involves the actions that are essential for increasing the demand for products in the aviation sector. In this research innovation of technological products is needed for improving the conditions of the aviation sector.
Technology acceptance model
Technology acceptance models speak about the adaptation and use of technology to bring improvements. This system is used in the endpoints where the customers are able to use this effectively.
Innovation and technology in the aviation sector need to be made in such a way that people find it easy to use the services (Salloum et al. 2019). The intention of an individual to use technology is measured using this model and in this study, innovation is essential for improving the operating processes in the aviation industry.
4.3 Impact of a covid-19 pandemic on the aviation industry
A drop in the demand for air travel services has been there during the pandemic of Corona as safety was the major concern of people. The safety of passengers is a major concern and the aviation industry provided safety kits to all the passengers (Ichsan and Rahmayanti, 2020). Job risks in the aviation industry are seen and there are 46 million jobs at risk in the global aviation sector. A facility of special flights was provided for the passengers who were unable to reach their destinations due to closed borders (Karim et al. 2020). 46400 cargo flights were used for transporting medical facilities to the needy places and loss in tourism business was seen due to effects of corona in the aviation industry.
4.4 Planning’s to improve the aviation industry from pandemic
Improvements in the aviation industry are done with the help of safety precautions that include the use of facemasks, sanitizers, and maintaining social distance. The use of intelligent systems in the security system makes a safe environment for the passengers as the involvement of humans is not seen (Ichsan and Rahmayanti, 2020). This system will be seen in the aviation industry for an effective flow of business processes as it will bring improvements in revenue. Effects in business travel were seen during the pandemic and to improve this special flight facilities for business purposes will be introduced (Karim et al. 2020).
5. Methodology
5.1 Research philosophy
Positivism research philosophy will be used for this research proposal as the knowledge is gathered through observations. Observing the loss in the aviation sector and providing plans for overcoming the loss and negative impacts is the main concern (Kennedy, 2017). This is the major reason for using the positivism philosophy for the purpose of this research proposal.
5.2 Research Approach
A deductive research approach will be used for this research study as analysis of the study will be done by observing the truthfulness. Loss of revenue is the major negative impact in the aviation industry due to the outbreak of corona and solutions will be provided for the negative impact (Alase, 2017). The deductive approach follows a logic in the research proposal and provides knowledge about existing effects and helps in gathering solutions.
5.3 Research Design
A descriptive research design will be done in this research proposal as it helps in generating surveys for gathering data. Knowledge gathering will be done with the help of surveys from the staff working in the aviation sector (Rahi, 2017). Information regarding the actual loss of revenue will be taken from the database of the aviation industry.
5.4 Sampling method
Random sampling will be used in this research proposal as it helps in providing equal importance to the gathered samples. The samples about the effects of corona will be taken from surveys and analysis will be done (Arifin, 2018). Identification of the improvement planning will be provided using the major areas of negative impacts. The area which needs improvement is people management in the aviation industry.
5.5 Data collection
Secondary data collection will be done for this research proposal as evaluating and analyzing data will bring predictions that are essential for providing plans for improvements. Data collected from all the sources will be stored in clouds for making it safe from theft (Kennedy, 2017). Secondary data analysis is used for this research proposal for gathering information using surveys and from various articles.
5.6 Data analysis
A qualitative approach for data analysis will be done in this research proposal as the study involves the identification of the major areas of improvement in the aviation sector. Identification of the impacts of corona in the aviation industry will be done using a qualitative approach (Kennedy, 2017). A qualitative approach will be used as the methods used are explanatory and helps in gathering information about the effects of corona in the aviation sector.
5.7 Ethical considerations
The Data protection act of 2018 will be used for this research proposal that discusses the usage of data in organizations. It is very essential for keeping data secure as theft of data may lead to disruption of a research study (Arifin, 2018). No data is copied from other researches in order to make legal proceedings with this research proposal.
6. Conclusion and Recommendation
Aviation industry suffered from a huge loss of revenue during the pandemic caused by corona and there is a need to provide improvements in planning the business. Research questions have been developed in this research proposal that will answer all the required confusions. Concepts of the aviation industry will provide knowledge about the different activities performed in this sector. Covid-19 has drastically affected the aviation industry resulting in huge losses. Innovation and technology are essential and this research proposal will discuss the innovations essential for providing improvements in the aviation sector. The methodology will bring out the ways in which the approach to data is done along with methods of gathering data.
It is recommended for using safety hygienic precautions in order to maintain safety in the aviation industry. The technology of Artificial Intelligence is needed for bringing improvements and it is recommended to make innovations in intelligent systems. Recommendations are there for the use of cloud technology in order to do improvements in the business with stakeholders who are involved in the aviation business.
