1. Challenges encountered
The different stages of this research study have been done with a critical understanding and analysis of the Internet of Things (IoT) and different impacts and factors. Initially I had to start with a strong topic that would address each point and detail concisely for the material that I am trying to put in my study (AV & Aithal, 2018). I critically tried to analyse the different aspects and options that are undertaken in application of IoT in e-commerce business operations.
I had different options for my research study but I selected the e-commerce business factors under the IoT for a thorough understanding and analysis on this topic. I chose e-commerce business opportunities and other factors under the IoT systems. This topic would help me to gain higher skill and knowledge in the background of the topic for a better scope in future.
The objectives and aims were set according to the overall analysis of the topic which I carried on to evaluate different answers for the set research questions. The next step was not to search and identify the different points and factors related to the topic that I had selected. However, the main issue that i gained in this part was to actually meet the overall queries I had for the topic. As the topic was based upon the IoT security challenges, business opportunities and reference architecture for e-commerce industry, it was necessary to evaluate the different business models and structures that are undertaken by the industry. These business models and statutes were evaluated for different topics taken under the literature review for the analysis of different articles and suggestions on the topic.
However, the main difficulty for me was to find the authentic data and articles on the security related issue of these industries (Hameed, Khan & Hameed, 2019). There were limited data on the ratio and percentage of security threats that were gained under the IoT systems. It was also a challenging task to understand the different levels of IoT systems the company has been using.
The ethical and legal implication on the research study was also difficult for me to identify the different points that may be taken under for consideration. I also tried to manage my proposal for the dissertation with authentic data and relevant information but it was difficult to gain authentic data as several information are not available. However, I kept a simple and segmented organisation of data and reposed it to my research study to overcome the challenges of an irrelevant and improper presentation of the proposal for a better evaluation of methods.
2. Interactions with lecturers, supervisor and peers
In this research proposal the communication and interaction with my tutors and lectures have been an important assistance to manage the difficult points I encountered in the topic. The interaction enabled me to understand the factors that I consider important for the research in the topic (Makhdoom et al. 2018). This has helped me to save time on looking for answers and finding data that are not important for the readers but to stick to the point on the topic selected.
The other important aspect of intersection with my tutors was to clear my doubts and difficulties I had been facing on the topic. They gave me clear feedback on the points that I have been trying to elaborate and the proper language that is to be used under such proposals. The objectives and scopes of the topic was also a difficult task for me until I got a suggestion from my tutors to fulfil these topics and literature. I frequently had several questions on the related topic for IoT implementation and challenges under e-commerce business. Significant help from my tutors and supervisors have helped me to find the answers to these issues and meet the questions easily. Thus, I was able to find the related sources and literature on my topic with authentic data and information with the help and support of my tutors and supervisor.
I contacted my supervisor through a mail and in my meeting with him I discussed with him the topic and proposed options that I have undertaken for the study. My supervisor helped me to identify different significant points that were compulsory to be addressed in the proposal and also to encounter different challenges with effective measures. I was also able to evaluate different articles by several authors that were helpful for the secondary sources of my research proposal with the constant support of my supervisor (Chaffey, Hemphill & Edmundson-Bird, 2019). I also received feedback from my supervisor during the coursework and this enables me to identify my progress. This has also helped me to improve on several points that can be implemented in further studies and coursework.
My peers have also been helpful for the overall completion of this coursework. I was able to evaluate different recommendations on the selected topic and the methods that will help me to identify different objectives that I was willing to research on. I also evaluated different sources through their help to search on my topic and also determine different factors on the IoT systems that are used under e-commerce operations.
3. Skills for a successful proposal
E-Commerce requires strategic planning as well as its managerial skills to develop a proposal. The writing of the proposal should be clear and to the point. The proposal should be grammatically correct in a compatible font and size and clear in every view for E-Commerce. During the process of proposal writing for E-Commerce, I have to be more focused on my writing and my language of writing should be clear and to the point (Shafique & Dent, 2019). I need to start my proposal with detailed planning to write a successful proposal. In my proposal I am using these skills to get an opportunity to prepare a proposal. Every time I attempt to utilise a clear language for writing and also have good communication with my supervisors for getting detailed information on my proposal for E-Commerce.
In order to manage a strong research proposal with accurate details the significant factor is to understand the related topic and appropriate findings that will assist in the overall study (Sarid Akis et al. 2018). Thus, I have been overlooking the importance of suggested and accurate articles that will help on the secondary resources of the study. I have decided to read a lot of information to summarize and fix the useful things in my study. Applicable information is necessary in this proposal to be focused and clear with regard to the topic. I believe that organizing skills is more important for me in this study because I always try to plan and organise all matters. I have involved a schedule and a process including each stage of the proposal to build.
I also view communication to be a critically important aspect for a better approach in research studies. Better communication helps us to provide a clear knowledge and understanding to our supervisor and tutors on the selected topic and the objectives for the proposed topic. A proposal needs to clearly communicate and provide proper claims under its study to avoid any clarified aspects of the study. Improper communication will affect the authenticity and overall interpretation factors of the study for his readers and observers.
The writing of the research proposal is to be clear and concise that allows the observers to identify the main aspects the research has been trying to evaluate (Aleisa & Renaud, 2016). The study and writing should have less grammatical errors and there should also be a concise general setting in the research study. The proposal is to be focused on the appropriate and detailed message that is to be conveyed through the designed prospects of the topic. The words and grammar that are being used should be structured with simplified and detailed analysis for the research proposal to be correct and to the highest criteria to meet its prospects.
It is also important to understand the limitations that may be faced during the completion of the project and proper understanding as well as analysis is important to manage these limitations (Gafurov & Chung, 2019). A proper assessment on the stated limitation and authentic details is solved by a clear and concise literature and academic sources that helps to gain the desired objectives and findings on the decided topic.
According to my view a significant ability to manage proper skills for the research study is to evaluate the professional approach that I can make to manage the organisational issues (Farhan et al. 2017). I will also put forward a thorough scope on what needs to be achieved and with accurate details on the desired topic.
4. Lessons learnt for future strategies
According to the critical understanding and analysis of my research proposal, I have evaluated that literature review is a significant aspect of the overall research study. I have taken through analysis and included the highest amount of time to get through different literatures in my study. These articles and sources have helped me through the proposal to reach the context and suggestions that I required for the IoT systems and other topics related to it (Lee, 2017). The security challenges that I knew were less compared to what I found in different articles and journals. The sources gave me crucial understandings on the findings that were to be evaluated in the report. Thus, the foremost important strategy that needs to be structured in the research proposal is to gain and develop a strong literature review. Searching the appropriate results will not only help in developing the overall understanding of the topic but will also enable to communicate the prospects of the topic with authentic details to the observers.
I have also found that secondary sources are also helpful for me to identify different issues that organizations have been encountering in security and business operations under the IoT systems (Aulkemeier et al. 2016). It is also important to keep a strong consideration on the evaluation of answers without falling under the plagiarism issue for the written resources in the literature review.
Another important point that I discovered under this research is that time and schedule is an important aspect to be managed critically (Shim et al. 2019). A strong timeline management will help to analyse and study each point and chapters of the proposal with through ideas. This will help in gaining a strong support for dissertation purposes as timeline management is one of the major skills required while preparing a dissertation (Farahani & Shahidinejad, 2020). Thus, the management of time will help me gain knowledge on the related topics with proper relevance without any limitations.
5. Professional Development Plan
In my professional development plan I have targeted some of the valuable possible targets and goals that I look forward to achieving in my career (Olanki, Kumar & Khari, 2019). This will assist me in gaining career aspirations with higher knowledge and skills and ability.
