Introduction
Video gaming in recent times has overtaken all other daily activities and interests. This hike in video gaming and digital gaming, which is described as impaired control, leads to various negative consequences. This is referred to as a gaming disorder per the International Classification of Diseases. The report focused on the risk factors posed by the excessive and uncontrolled escalation of gaming. Some instances describe video gaming as not a risk but a way towards a healthy society.
Heavy Video gaming may be a Risk
Heavy video gaming is severely taken as an addictive approach for youngsters. There are assertions that serious video gaming is termed equivalent to gambling. The involvement of real money in gaming has created a financial burden and misuse of funds by the youth. The financial burden in many cases accompanies the health risks of obesity, anxiety, loss of eyesight (Webber, 2018). It can be better understood as the stigma on the physical strength of the current generation.
Heavy video gaming is not a risk
Researchers have proved that heavy video gaming may not emerge as an addiction in case of high social engagements of the youth. The meeting may be in e instant messaging, or other communication means. Therefore, it is pretty apparent that socially active children, even though they are engaged in the heavy video gaming, that is, spending four or more hours per day on digital gaming, are less prone to the issues like anxiety or loneliness (Cooke, 2017).
Another argument describing video games as a health hazard is not considering the child’s mental development in terms of quick decision-making and planning abilities developed during video gaming. It is found that some video games which require physical movement also bring youth to good shape.
Conclusion
The report has presented the pros and cons of heavy video gaming, yet a balanced approach towards video gaming will be beneficial. Excessive inclination towards digital gaming can bring in losses for the future generation.
