Chapter 2: Literature review
Analysis of UK manufacturing sales
The action of selling a product by the manufacturer is called manufacturing sales. Providing the tag of a proper component by using the raw materials is the core theme of every business. The manufacturing segments depending on which UK manufacturing sales industry stands with great modernity and prevalence are textile, paper, food, tobacco, beverage, equipment & machinery, and so on. The manufacturing sales of products increased from £19.8 billion to £384.5 billion in the year 2017 before the Covid19 impact (Ons.gov.uk,2017).
Figure 1: Top 10 products of UK’s manufacturing sale before Covid19
(Source:Ons.gov.uk,2017)
All the top 10 UK’s products have faced some sale fluctuation before covid-19 but it doesn’t make any negative impact on this industry so prominently.
Figure 2: Industrial production during Covid19
(Source: Ec.europa.eu, 2021)
The total record of Industrial Production during covid-19 becomes so evidential for this discussion. In the month of July 2020, the manufacturing sale ratio of the UK has increased only 1.4% whereas in February 2020 the increase rate was only 1% (Ec.europa.eu, 2021). After Covid19 the increased rate UK’s manufacturing sales figure is around 7.1% and next year with this rate more 3% can be added as predicted. From this side it can be said that covid-19 has a massive impact on UK manufacturing sales that need to be overcome with a proper creative mitigation process as soon as possible.
Facts related to market progress of UK
Every business intends to catch a new market besides developing the present market with proper manufacturing products and sales strategies. Proper market progress will happen if an industry is capable of catching its own market without any kind of issues and also has the opportunity to expand in foreign markets with the exact power and strength. Market progress is an internal factor that has been laid by external elements of the industry. To make it clear it can be added that progress has been made by catching the different clients, increasing the number of buyers, adding mode stakeholders, and so on. But all these actions happen if the human resource can work effectively and efficiently with proper strategic concepts and technological advancement. In the case of the UK, all these factors are playing the main role in the market progress. Before covid-19 the market progress rate of the UK was 1.43% where at the time of Covid19 this rate decreased to -9.85%. A great dependence of the internal and external factors that are the elements depending on which the market progress has happened is the reason for massive damage due to Covid19.
Impact of Covid-19 over UK market
The increasing cases of covid-19 split the companies into groups like ok losing orders and strong interaction with the buyers and the other one is the overwhelming companies which are getting maximum orders. The untouchability cause for covid-19 the buyers prefer to be manipulated by the influencers who provide the product details. This manipulation diverse the buyers to the social media site and the other websites and online apps as well. By making a survey it has been observed that 14% of buyers purchase a product from social media. For this reason, the marketing process of the UK market became weaker day-by-day. Because the efforts of the marketing department to convince the buyers to shop from the companies can’t make a change. According to van Holm, et al. (2020) the covid-19 rules and regulations by the government the common people prefer to buy from various websites. It can be said that the rules and regulations of maintaining social distance negatively affect the marketing process of UK industries. Loss of customers of the can of industries breaks the sales chain of the UK industries. Because the productivity of the industries decreases day-by-day. The main reason for this decreasing productivity is the lack of customers who prefer to buy from the market. The UK industries suffer through loss in long-term GDP which breaks the economic system. Observe that in the month of July to August UK industry was successful to grow its GDP by 0.4%.
Theories
The theories which have been followed by UK industries for a long time and which brought proper success to the industries work negatively during Covid19.
Figure 3: Theories

- Excessive trust in human labor
Covid-19 mainly brings a world disruption in business. Most of the employees are locked in individual houses due to the excessive spread of the Covid19 virus. For the sake of decreasing the infection rate, most of the government has stopped all the corporate and government work as soon as possible. For that reason, the manufacturer does not have that much human labor depending on which the main manufacturing is being done. Kemitare and Kibekityo, (2021) mentioned that the sudden change in the situation provides no time for the industries to take an alternative of human labor which causes a great drop in market progress and also manufacturing sales. There is no human resource to the manufacturer which will work to convert raw material to a useful component for the buyers. Excessive trust over human labor is becoming it is an advantageous theory for the manufacturer which brings damage to the UK industry.
- Deficiency in preparation
Industries always make a backup plan to overcome any kind of difficulties from a previous time. The occurrence of covid-19 is so certain that the time of taking backup preparation was not there. Avdelas, et al. (2021) mentioned that the deficiency in preparation is also a central cause for dropping the manufacturing sale and market progress of the UK. Suddenly all the trade ways are closed down without any reminder or alarm to the UK’s industries. The situation of becoming disabled and asthenic is very much disrespectful for an established industry. For that reason, it is important that the backup plans should be so creative and flexible enough to match any kind of disadvantageous situation. Schoemaker et al. (2018) argued that the deficiency in preparation only is solved If the management team becomes advanced and creative enough. Then only the problems can be solved as much as possible with problem-solving methods of the executive team.
- Absence of useful development and training process
The time gap between the development training remains so short. According to Mikołajczyk, and Grochowski, (2018) The training organizers’ intent is that through these sessions the employees will be enhanced with proper knowledge and intelligence that the work becomes easier for the Employees. It is the duty of every Industry that which proper development station the actual potential of the employees should be brought out which become positive for the industry. Pineda et al. (2021) stated that during Covid19 this deficiency or absence of proper tanning sessions becomes a disadvantage fuel for the industries. As the employees of the companies are not able to come to work due to a worldwide lockdown and the new local recruitment of employees are not possible because this raining could not have been taking place in the industries by the executive team. Through this training, the capabilities of the employees can be developed which work positively in manufacturing sales and market progress. From this site, it also can be said that the absence of training is a devastating thing that Covid19 brings to the UK market.
- Technology-based activity
Technology-based activity is one of the great advancements that the manufacturer can be enjoyed for market progress. Hergianasari, and Rumaksari, (2018) mentioned that during Covid19 this technology-based activity remains not to have that many advantages for manufacturing. As the technology has been laid by the human resource of every industry and during covid-19 the humans are totally divided from the production. The theory of being successful only depended on technology-based advancement becomes failed during this time. Though in the initial time manufacturers does not get the actual situation which has coming in covid-19, at the time of surviving the market UK mainly think of it. Naudé, and Vinuesa, (2021). argued that the main lesson which has been learned during covid-19 by the UK market is that autonomous technology should be implemented which can be run without human order. This situation is helpful to overcome the critical situation like covid-19 in future time and along with-it proper mitigation process will also be implemented simultaneously.
Chapter 3:
The necessity of the research
Perfect research provides an overall view about the better process of working which can work better for the researcher. This is the reason why research is needed for making any work perfect. It can be said that research on a particular topic helps the researcher to discover new ways of researching a topic. The main purpose of making research is to explore, explain and describe a topic. According to Rajput, (2020) when a researcher can provide a detailed explanation on a topic it would be easier for the reader to understand the main agenda of the deserts worked on the other hand a proper description of the methods which are incorporated helps the reader to use the technique further. On the other hand, research has the ability to enhance the knowledge of society by providing advanced technology, theory, ideas, and concepts. The modern idea of research can help society to accept modernity in various ways.
Significance of the research work
The written statement explaining the reason for the need for the research is called the significance of research work. According to Basias, and Pollalis, (2018) it is mainly the justification of why the research study is important and the impact of the study on the research field. Proper research on a topic can provide nourishment to the mind of the researcher and the reader as well. When proper research is done it can positively affect another successful business. Topic name the impact of covid-19 on the UK manufacturing marketing and sales department can have that clear idea about the working process which need to be incorporated in the industry. This study can help to use some innovative working processes to stand before the pandemic and fight the lockdown period in recent times.
Data collection procedure
The way of collecting information from the selected sample is called the data collection procedure. There are two types that are mainly followed to collect data as the primary data collection process which include interview and survey, on the other hand, the secondary data collection procedure is mainly done from the information of various books, websites, journals, and articles. The interview is called the primary qualitative data collection procedure and the survey is called the primary quantitative data collection procedure (Roh, et al. 2019). In this research work, the primary data collection process has been followed. A primary sector survey is taken to fulfill the research work. To complete the research, work the marketing department of various industries of the UK has been chosen to get the more authentic data to tally the data. Butt, (2021) mentioned that the marketing department is questioned to understand the current situation of the industries that face the worldwide lockdown which decreases the productivity and sales in the industry. The questions are:

Ethical consideration
The main concept of ethical consideration is that it is mainly the acknowledgment that is provided by the researcher that the samples are not pressured to provide information. In this step, the details of all the temples are kept in secret so that in the future the samples will not face any kind of problems to provide information on a topic. In this study, the marketing departments are chosen as a sample and the personal details of this department are kept controversial by the researchers. According to Robin, and Angelina, (2020) the main motto of a study is to find out the reason for the problems and also provide some ideal mitigation to the problems without revealing the personal details of the samples. After completing this study, it can be said that the researcher verifies all the information perfectly without revealing the details.
Chapter 4: conclusion
The entire work enlightens the topic of the impact of Covid19 on the UK. For the sake of quality work, several points have been added by categorizing them into different chapters. In the initial part of this analysis, a proper introduction of the work has been provided with the use of research aims, objectives, and research questions. In the next chapter, the requirement of a proper understanding of the topic has been precisely done. The manufacturing sales and market progress are dependent on various facts which need to be analyzed before identifying the exact impact of covid-19. For that reason, in the first, the facts have been indicated and analyzed to understand the actual covid impact over the UK market. From the analysis, it has been known that the UK market has a proper market progress rate in previous time but due to covid-19, the change is prominent that to overcome the creative Technology-based mitigation has to be implemented. Otherwise, it is very difficult to run in a competitive market with the same prosperity and success. After that, the theory is strictly followed before Covid19 has been mentioned. And immediately after it the necessity of the research, the significance of the research data collection procedure and ethical consideration has been added to make this work more transparent and authentic. Following this structure, the whole work has been done with great efficiency and the berries have been well mitigated.
