MD 4042 Leadership and management Assignment Sample
Introduction
According to Gonot-Schoupinsky et.al. (2020), personal development is known to be an essential test that needs to be conducted by every individual as it helps in accessing personal abilities possessed by the person. It enables an individual’s ability so they can turn them into actions and achieve future growth. Personal development adds both success and satisfaction to your life. Gaining in-depth knowledge about personal skills gives a clearer vision of your life goals and mission. It helps in creating an accurate plan for achieving future objectives. Along with that, personal development enables learning and exploring hidden talents and skills.
Main body
Personality insights, temperament, personal resilience, assertiveness, and sound decision-making are essential for developing leadership qualities (Normadhi et.al. 2019). A temperament test is a tool that gives deep knowledge about my behaviour and has four components included in it. The test helps me in getting to know the better version of myself and gives me a path for choosing a successful future. After conducting the test I came to know that my temperament type belongs to INFJ and it shows me that I’m highly intuitive, creative, and artistic. I am the type of person that wants freedom for being creative and innovative as per the test.
The temperament test tool also gave me some suggestions based on my type so I can make future decisions adequately elaborated by Karvonen et.al. (2020). The major drawback of my type is I don’t feel secure when forced to get involved in impersonal details. The tool also gave me tips about being more assertive, more realistic and tries to look at practical implications based on the inspirations. I’m an introversion type and feel comfortable working with myself and don’t want to be the center of attraction. I want a job that gives me my time to think and less need of getting social. Introvert people don’t like to take suggestions and opinions of others but it is suggested by test tools that try to take preference of others as well.
Being an intuitive person I love to enjoy forming links between different concepts. I desperately love to get involved in learning new skills and always ready to face new challenges. It allows me to decide the future appropriately and take forward steps. The third component of this test is feeling and I make decisions based on the feelings and try not to hurt people. According to my temperament behaviour, I feel that it is ok to show your feelings and behave emotionally with others. While making decisions I behave less logically. I need to act assertive and handle difficult situations without being emotional.
The fourth component between judging and perceiving, my temperament test passed with judging. As per this, I am planned, reliable, dependable, and organised. I started feeling frustrated when I’m unable to complete the task on a given deadline. The judging quality stops me from gathering sufficient information and sometimes fails to make the right decision so it is essential to think twice before coming to any conclusion. Temperament test will help me bringing correctness in my behaviour if necessary and also allows me to understand my qualities in a better way. It will also open the doors of being a great leader that possesses all the good qualities.
The second test conducted by me is the personality insight test that helped me in getting deep knowledge about establishing an adequate balance between individual and teamwork that is necessary for being an effective leader as per Bakker et.al. (2019). This test consists of five components that include conscientiousness, openness to experience, agreeableness, emotional stability, and extraversion. Based on this test, I scored less in openness and emotional stability. I scored high in extraversion that means I am good at being with people and always enjoy participating in social gatherings. It would be better for me to choose the job that brings a variety of people around me as it will help in learning new experiences.
I scored high in agreeableness as well which means I am good at working in a team that is very good for becoming an effective leader. Agreeableness allows me to compromise my opinions to avoid conflicts in the group. A moderate score in emotional stability will help me in noticing others and my feelings but it won’t affect my decisions. I can handle stress and pressure to some extent but when it gets high it may change. The suggestion based on this test allows me to become a manager as I’m good at balancing sensitivity in the workplace.
Conscientiousness means I am likely to be proficient, tidy, and highly organised about my work. I possess the ability to complete the task on a given deadline that again makes me a great leader as I can make others complete the task on time. I scored in the mid-range in the category of openness that allows me to experience life changes adequately elaborated by Xia et.al. (2017). I can accept that bringing changes in the workplace is essential and can accept them efficiently. I need to increase my score in openness to experience as change is vital in every organisation for achieving future growth.
I have taken the personal resilience test and the score acquired by me was high showing that I am familiar with my talents, limitations, and things I can handle. The test suggests that I love to sort the difficulties and address events adequately. It comprised of six factors including coping with change, self-confidence, problem-solving, working with others, organisation, and support network. I am good at coping with change and love to get new opportunities. The tip given by the test is to adopt changes continuously and helps others in their difficult times. According to Bohman et.al. (2017) it will also help me in making changes concerned with my career that enables a path to success.
I am good at dealing with problems and bring out an effective solution for one. It is the quality that opens the door for me to enhance my leadership qualities. For me, it is mandatory to take time before concluding and requires continuous practice so it develops regularly. Being self-confident is very excellent but one needs to be careful that others don’t take it as arrogant. Never make assumptions that you are better than others and try to listen to their thoughts and opinions as well.
Furthermore, I am good at teamwork and like to explore new things. My self-confidence ability adds a spark to this as I interact confidently with others. I must practice active listening and then present opinions. After that, I scored high in support networks as well that means I confidently take support from others and try to share my issues with them. Resilience is all about the ability to bounce back and act efficiently at times of difficulty.
The fourth test for my personal development is all about the assertiveness I possess. I scored high in assertiveness but low on passive and aggressive scales as per Omura et.al. (2017). It is essential to have consistency in behaviour as it helps in establishing great relationships and creating a creative environment at the workplace. Being assertive by nature means I always focus on adopting a win-win approach that can be a great opportunity for being a leader. This nature of mine allows me to get what I want but not at the cost of someone losing it. Other than that, I am sometimes passive; it means I need to bring more consistency in my behaviour.
I scored low on an aggressive scoreboard that is good but I can become aggressive sometimes and this can affect other people’s feelings. It can be seen that being high in assertiveness is the ability to have self-confidence and assurance without opting to have aggressiveness. I am good at explaining my needs and views by sticking to them. It can be helpful for me to address all the opinions adequately with my team members and I believe in hearing what is right. Every individual needs to have assertive nature rather than being passive and aggressive at the workplace.
The last test taken by me is sound decision making and I scored 94 on this test. It states that I am good at analysing the situation effectively and gather the information that will be relevant for the current circumstances as per Clark et.al. (2020). I am excellent at assessing numerous tools before coming to conclusion and able to explain the decision to others and myself. I need to bring improvement in this as I can have access to more sources before concluding. The test suggested that I can construct a plan based on my implementation as it helps me in becoming more structured and rigorous in my approach.
After conducting the various personal development tests, I can say that I have achieved great knowledge about my skills and talents. It would help me in achieving future growth and also enables ways to grow my abilities. Other than that, I have understood that no one is responsible for my failure I need to work on that and bring great success. Getting involved in this personality test developed my knowledge about the ways I can take to address my barriers adequately.
Conclusion
It has been concluded from the personal development test that it is my abilities and skills to enhance my talents to become an efficient leader. I have completed five major tests that helped me in gaining in-depth knowledge about my leadership qualities that needs some improvement. I am an extraversion type of candidate that loves to work in a team and listens to their opinions patiently and my self-confidence helps me in explaining my views effectively. In this way, I can take a step ahead for developing more leadership qualities that are required.
