Introduction
This study is based on the importance of leadership and team management skills that are required to manage a team in an effective way. With the help of theories and themes, the importance of quality leadership is highlighted in this study. Leadership is an important aspect that helps a team to get the necessary direction and guidance to overcome issues and improve efficiency. Better leadership skills can help uplift team members by boosting their morale and motivation to perform at their best abilities. Thus, this study covers all the necessary aspects regarding how to develop leadership skills for better team management.

Ways to improve team management skills
Team management skills are an important aspect for leaders and coaches to handle a team in a better way. Focusing on serving rather than focusing on managing is considered to be a better way to manage a team. As a leader, it is necessary to take decisions and strategies according to the strength and weaknesses of the team to provide necessary assistance to the team members. Good leaders always lead through their actions and by setting an example for team members to follow. As a professional, it is necessary to deliver quality work as a leader in front of team members to set an example (Daley and Baruah, 2021).
A quality leader must not assume that their decisions are always right for employees. A decision taken by a leader must be employee-oriented by consulting with specific employees to get the best possible outcome. Leaders need to be up to date with the latest trends for professional development. Further, developing a sense of transparency must be a priority of a leader to help employees feel more important and connected. Transparency allows open communication, which is crucial to develop a sense of respect among leaders and employees (Floris et al. 2020). Further, transparency can enhance job satisfaction and productivity. As a result of transparency, the entire workforce becomes much more productive and enhances job satisfaction.

Setting boundaries during interacting with employees is also a key aspect that a leader needs to develop. A leader must interact with employees in a professional way by avoiding personal conversations. A quality leader must know their responsibility within the workspace to develop a sense of respect within the work environment (Loucks and Ozogul, 2020). Besides setting boundaries, a leader must provide a positive workspace that can drive the productivity of the organisation. However, discussions regarding profit margins and performance evaluations are bound to arise in the workspace that can hamper productivity to a certain extent. A work environment with a bit of humour can work wonders to develop a positive impact on productivity. Thus, leaders need to develop a culture of happiness within the workspace to enhance productivity.
Effective communication is a necessity for organisations to produce the desired outcome. A leader must listen to the opinions or views of the employees to make them feel important and respected within the workplace. It also provides the opportunity to discover creative and innovative ideas that can play a huge role to boost the efficiency of the workforce (Baker and Gilkey 2020). A leader must encourage employees or staff constantly to help them perform according to their potential by providing positive feedback. However, it is also necessary for leaders to provide constructive criticism at certain times for their professional development. Thus, team management skills need to be improved constantly to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Issues of mindset, values and practice within a team
The mindset of the person plays an essential role in improving the quality of work done by a person. It can help to boost the capability of the team as well as can help to increase the collaboration capability of the members of the team (Dalati and Alchach, 2018). On the other hand, values in a business are some of the key features that can help to make a good image of the business in the market. It plays as a tool that can help to boost the capability of the business compared to its competitors. It can help to increase the trust of the customer of the business to increase their trust. In the case of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, the organisation is providing cloud support to its clients. The organisation has access to data from a large number of other businesses (Nielsen and Taris, 2019). However, the trust of the customers helps HPE to generate a large amount of revenue in a short span of business.
The mindset of the leader in a team is one of the key features that can help to set a way in which a team needs to be governed. In case of a lack of mindset in the business can have a direct effect on the performance of the business? A proper mindset of the leader can help to focus on the important aspects that can help the business to improve its operation (Carleton et al. 2018). However, the lack of mindset can have a direct effect on the quality of the work in the organisation. Setting the correct mindset can help to gather knowledge, manage the time needed to do work and maintain the quality of a project in the organisation. As in the case of HPE, a stable mindset has helped the leaders to maximise the profit in a short span of 7 years and boost its growth in its market.
However, in some cases, there and a lack of values and small practices can have a direct effect on the performance of the business? In the past few years, it could be observed that some organisations issue the data of their clients in order to be used by businesses for their own profit (Kaluza et al. 2020). In the era of information warfare, information about a person is very essential. It can be used in various fields and for various purposes. It can have a direct effect on the life of a person and severely affect the concerned person. In recent times, there are some businesses in the market that were accused of misusing the data of the user for the benefit of the business. It has a direct effect on the privacy of the people linked to the business. In that case, it can directly affect the goodwill of the business in its market.
Importance qualities of leadership in the organisation
Leadership in an organisation plays an essential role in planning and organising the work in the organisation. However, most of the leaders in the organisation must have some of the essential qualities that can help to increase the performance of the organisation. This quality can help the person to make the decision that is essential for future organisational performance (Adıgüzel, 2019). As per the case study, Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packard Enterprise has got these essential qualities as when she used to be a team player in various games in her early life. It helped her to develop an understanding of the qualities needed in teamwork.
Vision: Long-term vision is one of the key features that are essential qualities for a leader in the business. In business, there are some aspects in which the business owner needs to invest to grow the business. The incomes on these types of investments cannot be seen on an immediate basis. Rather it takes time to show its impacts (Leithwood et al 2020). Just as in a game like in baseball or any other type of game the captain on the team needs to have a long-term vision that can help them to set the players in the team. It can help to set the strategy needed to win the game. In the same way in the case of the business, a long-term vision can help the performance of the business.
Inspiration: Inspiration is one of the key features that can help to boost motivation in the business. there may be various types of challenging situations an employee in the organisation may need to be faced. In that case, if the leader of the organisation can be able to motivate the employees, that can help the employees to boost their confidence in the business. As Meg Whitman was a part of a team, she knew the importance of inspiration for the team’s performance and its importance in organisation performance.
Strategic & Critical Thinking: As a leader, it is essential that a leader is able to think differently from the others working in the organisation. Meg Whitman was a part of various types of sports. Just as in sports, various types of strategies needed to be made in the game depending on the situation in the game. A similar approach needed to be applied in the case of business. there may be a different situation in the business (Khaola and Coldwell, 2018). A leader in the business needs to analyse the strategic situation and critically think about the situation in order to face the situation. It can help to make the business sustainable in every situation.
Open-Mindedness and Creativity: open-mindedness is one of the key features that can help different people to interact with the leader in their own ways. There may be various ways to achieve a goal. Open-mindedness can help a person to adapt to changes in the organisation’s working pattern as per the need and help others working in the organisation to work freely. There may be various issues in the life of a person if the leader of the organisation is open-minded. In that case, employees in the organisation can talk to the leader and talk about their issues in the proper ways.
Role of a leader in organisational success
In terms of success in the organisation, the leader has a key role in increasing the performance of the organisation. It is the role of the leader to evaluate the various ways in which the work in an organisation needs to proceed in order to improve operational performance. As the leader of the organisation is the head of the organisation, they have to control the various aspects such as the challenges in the organisation, manage the fund in the organisation other various types of work in the organisation (Budur, T. and Poturak, 2021). in most organisation, there is various department that has control such as the HR department, accounting department finance department and various other department depending on the functioning of the organisation. all these departments need to report to the leader in the organisation at the end and on the basis of the reports the leader of the organisation needs to manage the strategy needed to adopt to continue working.

For example, in the case of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, it can be observed that the organisation was established in 2015. In 2021 the revenue earning of the organisation is 2,780 crores USD which is a massive increase in the business performance within 6 years. The organisation provides cloud support to other businesses and helps them to store a large amount of data in the platform. This business helps to provide cloud services that can help other businesses (their clients) to store their important data for future use. In this case, it can clearly be said that this organisation can be able to revolutionise the working pattern of other organisations. In the 21 century, an increase in the use of the internet has helped the organisation to improve the culture in the organisation (Dopson et al. 2019). The leader of HPE was able to recognise the facts and was able to make a business structure that can be used in the future world. This vision has helped to set up the organisation in the market.
During the time of Covid-19, most companies in the world have been forced to either turn off their business or develop the structure of work from home to continue their functioning. In that case, most of the companies needed to shift their work to online mode. Therefore, it is the duty of the leader of the organisation to decide what can be done in order to continue its functioning on the organisation. in other words, the leader of the organisation can be able to decide the steps needed to be taken in order to continue functioning in the organisation on the basis of the market condition. In addition, it is the leader of the organisation who is responsible for taking decisions regarding the type of technology needed to be used in the organisation (Khan and Khan, 2019). It can help them to adapt to changes in the market and maintain their performance in Globally changing market conditions. Additionally, the literary person is the person who is responsible for managing the resources used in the organisation in the right way. It can help to efficiently manage the research and save the cost of operation in the organisation.
Role of leader in building a team
Leadership quality in a person is a key feature that can help to guide a team in a proper way. Most of the organisations have small teens based on their job. It is the purpose of the leader to guide the other members of the team to efficiently do their job with the resources provided. There are certain qualities of a leader that can help them to guide the other employees working under them in an organisation (Engelbrecht and Samuel, 2018). In order to maintain the proper quality of work the leader of a team needs to have a little idea of the type of work that is assigned to a team. It can help them to guide others in case the cold is unable to perform.
There are some essential qualities need to possess by a team leader in order to do work there as follows:
Good communication skills: good communication skills can help a leader to communicate with other co-workers working with them in a team. It is the responsibility of the leader to guide their core workers in times of any mistakes. Good communication skills can also help to define a work so the work can be achieved in a clear manner and can be easily understood by all. Therefore, it is essential to maintain the quality of work of the leader (Ogbeibu et al. 2018). For example, in the case of the captain who is considered the leader of the team, it is their responsibility to explain the role of each of the players and help them to guide in the right ways.
Cooperation skills: being a leader of the organisation it is a team is one of the key features that can help a leader to connect to the various employees working with them. good cooperation skills can help to comment to the employees and understand their issues. Based on the understanding, the team leader can make a strategy to solve the issues (Andersen, 2018). For example, in the case of a game like a basketball, the captain can be able to understand the capabilities of each player in the game and place them as per the need in the game. It can help to improve the strategy of the game.
Time management: time management skills can help to manage the time taken in each of the work designed for a team. in an organisation there are various types of projects. Managing the time for each job can help to boost the capability of the team (Sheehan et al. 2020). For example, if the team leader can be able to collaborate with the employees in the organisation, they can be able to handle the situation in the team and face the various situations efficiently and reduce the stress on each of the employees in a team. Therefore, the above three skills can help to boost the capability of a leader in a team.
Importance of leadership in decision-making
A leader in the organisation is the head of all the departments. As a result, it is the leader of the organisation responsible for making key decision. In the case of the strategy adopted by the organisation for structural change in the organisation, the leader is responsible for the change in the organisation. it is essential for most organisations to change themselves with the changing market situation. It can help to boost the capability of the business in the changing market.
change in the organisation structure: in some cases, the existing organisation structure may not be able to meet the goal of the organisation. Therefore, in that case, the leader of the organisation needs to change the structure of the organisation. An organisation may follow a corporate governance structure at the beginning of the organisation. On the basis of that, a leader can be able to transform its good organisation of structure to another governing system such as an adaptable government system for any other system that shoots the working process of the organisation. This change is necessary for the organisation to sustain operations in the changing market structure. For example, if a team of baseball is unable to perform well due to a particular structure, the captain of the team needs to alter the structure in order to get back the form of the team.
The same process has been used in the organisation in order to improve its performance. In the same ways before covid -19 most businesses used to perform their activities in traditional ways. However, after the emergence of the lockdown, most businesses have to change their ways of operation. Businesses involved in retail need to shift online (Phornlaphatrachakorn, 2019). It was done in order to sustain their sale as people were unable to get out of their houses. Therefore they have to consider a wide amount of change in technology used in business. It is the leader of the organisation who decides the type of technology that needs to be used in a business analysing the situation of the market.
Use of the resources in the organisation: the use of resources in the organisation plays a key role in evaluating the performance of the organisation. Therefore, it is the role of the leader of the organisation to use the resource in the proper ways. Some of the most crucial elements of the business are labour, capital, and infrastructure in the business. It is the role of the leader to use efficient ways to maximise profit (Ghasabeh and Provitera, 2018). For example, in the case of the covid-19 when the business needed to shift online, it helped them to sustain their performance and also helped them to sustain their existing employees in the organisation. In addition, it helps businesses to reduce some of the costs of operation on rent of the spaces needed to be given. Excessive use of electricity was reduced which helps the cost of the operation and user of the resource in efficient ways.
Effect of failure on leadership
Leaders in the organisation play an essential role in managing the employees working in the organisation. It can help to manage the employees in a way that can be able to increase the usability of the business. in most organisations, based on the type of job the leadership style of the organisation is managed. However, in some cases, there is a failure in the type of leadership style that has a saviour effect on the performance of the business. Especially in the case of a business, which has been operational for a long period, in that case, the organisation may follow a type of leadership style that may be the corporate governance style (Ishii et al. 2021). However, in the latter stages when the organisation grows in volume, based on the type of market situation or due to any other situation the organisational style needs to be changed in order to maintain proper functioning in the changing market. if the type of organisation’s structure is not changed it can affect the other important factors and affect the resource used in the organisation.
Mishandling of policies:
Policy making is one of the key factors that can help a leader to get a sustainable business. In the case of Miss Management of leadership, if the policies of the leader are effective, that case, it has a direct effect on the performance of the organisation. It is the role of the leader to analyse all the details coming from the HR department, management department and other departments and based on that make strategies to go for an organisation. Inactive strategies can lead to loss to the organisation and even affect the Goodwill of the business in the market.
Decrease in organisation productivity: Incapable leadership can affect the performance of employees working in an organisation. If the leader is unable to recognise the effort made by the employee, this can lead to de-motivation for employees. It can have a direct impact on the performance of employees and decrease the overall quality of service or product to survive the organisation (Devece et al. 2019). Report received from the HR department a leader can be able to recognise the effort of an employee and motivate them with various incentive schemes or gives. It can help the employee to be loyal to the organisation in which they are working. For example, in the case of a baseball match if a particular is performing well in that case or needs to be praised for this can help to boost their motivation to keep up a good performance.

According to Karagianni and Jude Montgomery (2018), leaders have to put a lot of importance on the organisational structure to implement rules that can help the entire workforce to perform at their best. However, employees or staff needs to be rewarded for better performance. This theory also states that leaders need to constantly monitor the performance of employees to ensure employee effectiveness and check whether employees’ productivity is aligned with the organisational goal or not. With the help of transactional theory, a leader can improve their skills to manage their team in a better way to produce the desired outcome.
Theory of transformation: This theory states that the bond between leader and employees is a key factor that can lead to the success of the organisation. With the help of this theory, a leader can inspire the workforce to perform beyond their capability. As per the view of Guzmán et al. (2020), leaders are a key part of an organisation that helps in motivating employees to perform according to the vision. The morale of employees is certain to rise with the help of transformational leaders. Transformational leaders set an example for team members to follow in terms of producing outcomes as per the requirement of the organisation. Further, transformational leaders prioritize interaction with employees to motivate and boost their morale. Making a difficult choice and taking chances are some of the key qualities of transformational leaders that helps in producing the desired outcome. Additionally, transformational leaders prioritize the objectives of the organisation together with employees’ morale.

Conclusively, this study states the importance of leadership skills to improve the efficiency and productivity of a team to achieve the main target and goal. This study contains different skills that are required by a leader to develop themselves into a quality leader. The skills that are required to manage and lead a team in an efficient way are also provided in this study. It is also evident from the study that quality leadership is a necessity to provide necessary guidance and direction to team members. Thus, it is concluded from the study that quality leadership can produce better outcomes in any circumstance or situation.
