Reflection on Personal and Professional Development
Introduction
Academic theory can be recognised as the model which helps to explain or predict some of the phenomena. It seems that the theories are generally, specific to their objectives as well as contradict one another. Practices can be described as the process of application of knowledge of skills within a specific situation. Thus, the given essay is based on my reflective learning experiences of myself. The essay has been also interpreting my personal experience on placements, evaluation of training and development, in addition to this, the essay has been including my experiences in gaining personal as well as professional development.
Reflection on personal and professional development
Placement aspects
After completion of my graduation, I have got an offer in a global IT service company, namely, Gatta IT service Pvt ltd. The company mainly worked on a global services provider basis, having specialization in Geocapital, data analytics, engineering design, AutoCAD and many more. During my placement times, I have to learn to access the GIS tools and their accessibility in order to achieve a job as a GIS trainer. After getting selected in the company, I have learned so many technical as well as non-technical skills from the GIS supervisor. Between working in this company, I have learned all the special features of GIS tools, know about the process of the team working, start dealing with the nationwide companies as well as I have also learned to provide allocated jobs within the strict deadline. Also, I learned to access the usability of the Microsoft office, auto cad, engineering design, GIS tools and technical accessories. These are all counted as my professional development. On the other hand, I have learned about self-awareness, self-motivated skills, communication skills, team management as well as time management skills during the who9le3 learning process. It also seems that theoretical practices always help me to achieve my success.
Relating with the academic theory to practice and apply knowledge and skills in a professional context
An individual can practice more, to become perfect in this specific area or field. The connection between the theory and practices is essential to illustrate an individual ability by appropriate evidence (Bassot, 2015). On the other hand, it also helps an individual to understand their self-development, self capability. Also, it has left an impact on the decision making approaches as well as future practices. As stated by Bolton, (2010) the strength of an individual theory practice also provides evidence to their critical thinking. The strength of theory practices also become evidence to an individual professional as well as personal growth development. Moreover, it can be said that linking with theory and practices is able to show what we learn at the university from knowing what we will apply to real-life experiences. Academic theory can be recognised as the model which helps to explain or predict some of the phenomena. It seems that the theories are generally, specific to their objectives as well as contradict one another (Moon, 2004).
Practices can be described as the process of application of knowledge of skills within a specific situation. I have also realized that it is essential to practice academic theory in order to gain a critical understanding of a given context. Its help in developing reflective learning experiences and develop reflective learning skills by applying knowledge and skills in a professional context. Social Learning Theory is linked with theories that can help the learners to become self-motivated learners. The social learning theory also helps the learners to observe the social behaviours learned by the initiative behaviours of others (Pinho et al. 2020). As per this academic theory, it seems that the critical reflections on assumptions help the learners to understand the learning process better. In most cases, the adult learners are practising this kind of theory practice in order to develop the problem-solving skills into them to achieve professional context into the future. Also, the learners are using these theory practices to mitigate their issues during the learning process as well as the learners also using these theory practices in order to cope up with future challenges. I have also found that an individual can become more motivated towards self-learning after using this theoretical approach. I also use this theory practice to become more self-directed and self-motivated learners.
Classical conditioning practices, this theory mainly focused on the process of how knowledge can be produced and applied in the real world. As stated by Baharuddi and Suyadi (2020), Classical conditioning practices,it seems that the be recognised as the beliefs of the learners which describe the process that how the learner worked and gathered knowledge interpreted and applied into their real-life experiences. Moreover, this theory practices help them to achieve personal as well as professional development in their career. Both of these learning theories have been helping me to become self-motivated and active learners. Furthermore, which helps me to achieve growth in my career?
Reflection on accurate amount of activity on the experience of the placement and evaluation of personal and professional development
During the working session in the IT service providing company, it seems that they have been providing me weekly activities as a GIS trainee. In the first week 1, my key activities were to understand PLA, to understand the difference between FTTP and FTTC. Understand the high-speed rate of the fibre. According to Xiaohua (2022), it seems that PLA can be recognised as the plastic and polyacid material mainly used for 3D printing. The FTTC and FTTP are also used for developing plastic materials. However, during the first week, I started to chat with co-workers to get more familiar with the working environment. I had also learned to update sheets. I have started to take recommendations from others in order to enhance my team working process too. In this stage, my area of improvisation is to communicate with all kinds of workers working in the offices. In addition to this, in the second week of my internship, I have learned how to deal with the project designs along with my co-workers. Also, I have studied on the complete work site to understand the company’s work of interest.
My key improvement factor in this sector is to know about the technical aspects of the engineering drawings. I need to develop my skill in such a way that the work is done in a proper manner as pointed out by drawings. I also have to interact with the contractors to understand the planning based work. In the second week, I introduced myself at the construction site. In week 3, my main activity was to involve myself in team meetings with the draftsmen. This week I had to improve my methodologies section. In this section, my intern team was associated with myself to achieve the success of the job profile. In week 4, I learned the exact Difference between Fibre and Coaxial and their usability. This week my key improvement was to assess the whole company and visit outside and slide construction sites to identify the issues and strategies of the company. I have also seen the development phase of the construction industry. In this week I have learned the key skills of the construction sites, team management skills as well as time management skills. Thus, I have been noticing a great evaluation in myself and its reflects as the professional as well as personal development
On the other hand, it can seem that I have been working very hard to get a job offer since I started civil engineering. It was one of my great achievements for myself to get an internship offer from a global IT service company. I have learned a whole lot of experiences from this company. During working at this company, I had realized some of the positive experiences as well as negative experiences too. I have been working on myself to overcome all of the negative experiences. Once I was not able to serve my allocated jobs within the given deadline it was one of the bad experiences for me. Although one of my positive experiences was the collaboration level of the supervisors, co-workers, construction site managers and other workers of the company. However, I have gained experience in “Ø CIVILS NETWORK – CHAMBER LOCATION, CIVILS NETWORK F6 & F8 andC1,C2 and C3 CHAMBERS”. In this phase I have learned all the specific materials and their usability of the materials. I have also learned about workmanship and craftsmanship meanwhile working in this organization on the other hand, I have learned how to solve and draw the specific objectifying construction design in order to achieve consumers satisfaction
Critical understanding of the placement organization and its experience
After completion of my graduation, I got an offer to work as an intern at the Gatta IT services Ltd. It seems that this company can be recognised as a global IT service company. The company has a specialization in geospatial, data analytics, it service provider, engineering design and many more. I have got the offer in this company to work as an intern in the designation of Trainee GIS operator. It has been a great experience for myself to achieve this position as well as to work within the global It company. I achieved so many experiences from these internships which will definitely help me to achieve the further development of my career. Thereafter, I have some of the responsibilities to work within this company. As a GIS trainee, I have to learn and analyze the existing planned data. During the work session, the company provided me with an overview of the job schedule to understand the high preity job profile clearly. I have also learned the prioritization of data capture to understand the subject clearly. During the work session, my transition has been provided by the GIS supervisor. According to Zhang et al. (2020), GIS can be recognised as the most advanced technology in civil engineering which helps to empower the civil structure. In this technology, it has been providing spatial data and objectives to top engineers (Amer, 2020).
I have learned to analyze the pictures of civil engineering during my graduation periods. I have also done my final year project based on the GIS activities and GIS tools. Furthermore, which definitely helps me to work within this company. The beginners represent a visual form of the data within geographic maps(Tamiru and Wagari, 2021). On the other hand, during the internship session, I have been involving myself to escalate animalisation between the planned as well as built data. Apart from gaining all the technical experiences, I have gained management skills too. During my work session, one of my best learning management skills is to learn about mitigating issues in time management. I have learned how to provide allocated jobs within strict deadlines. The company is very strict about the deadlines. Also, I have to involve myself in the planning team to know about the planning, packing, executing and completion process. Also, I have been learning to provide allocated jobs within strict deadlines while there was no one there to supervise me. Thus it can seem that during the working session, I have also learned about the team managing plans. As stated by Amer (2020), it seems that team management and planning management both are required in order to become a senior manager. Also, I have learned to deal and communicate with several companies which are based on country bases as well as global bases.
During the working session, I have to communicate with the utility companies nationwide in order to analyze the structural maps. Therefore, I have realized that, during this session, I definitely enhance my communication process. As stated by Triyono et al. (2018), effective communication is one of the main key aspects of achieving success as an individual as well as a business organization. Therefore, it is essential to manage team handling, planning management and many more. On the other hand, I have learned some of the technical aspects such as Microsoft Office, CAD, GIS programmes such as QGIS and many more. I have noticed that the company has a very well built training and development sector, where they recruit the graduates and train them properly to achieve a high-quality job in future. Also, the atmosphere of the company as well as the working environment of the company was so good. My colleagues, teammates, managers, supervisors were very cooperative as well as supportive. Also, I had seen so many new features of civil engineering tools. I have learned AutoCAD design as well as learned how to draw the civil objectives with the help of the auto cad 3D civil tools.
Developing and practicing key personal and employability skills
Cotronei-Baird (2020), states that employability skills can be noted as one of the transferable skills that should be adopted in order to achieve the capability of becoming an employer of an organization. Thus, it seems that it is very essential to develop employability skills in to own self in order to achieve success in the career growth development of an individual. As stated by Husam and Abraham (2019) most of the global employers are recruiting on the basis of the employability skills. Also, they focus more on the significance of managerial skill rather than their merit. One of the main employability skills is developing self awareness. Self awareness is required to develop clarity within an individual (Back et al. 2020). Without having the quality of self awareness and self development an individual is not even able to gain the leadership position in future. In addition to this, having leadership skills is also known as one of the employability skills (Fahimirad et al. 2018). Without having the leadership skills an individual is not able to achieve a leadership position in a business organization. Also, it becomes challenging for them to balance team management or team-based performance.
In addition to this, Kashefpakdel et al. (2018), states that communication skills is one of the key skills to achieve success as an individual or as a business organization, it seems that effective communication between the employee is always helpful in problem-solving and decision making approaches. Therefore, it can seem that an individual needs to develop communication skills as an employability skill. Similarly, Triyono et al. (2018), states that interpersonal, research and information literacy, numeracy is also recognised as the employability skill of an individual. Therefore, I have got an offer from a well recognised employer. It has become essential to develop all of these skills for an individual. Thus during my graduation, I have been leading a project team for several times, also I have been gaining interpersonal, numeracy skills, as well as information literacy skills during my graduation. On the other hand, it seems that during the working session, I have learned effective communication skills, problem solving and decision-making skills which will definitely help me stop develop3d my personal as well as professional development. Dyki et al. (2020), also states that, it’s become essential to have all these kinds of employability skills to achieve success rate on their career development growth also, an individual needs to practice the skills as well for the continuous development of own self.
Recommendation for tasks set in the workplace and applies effective communication and problem-solving initiatives to achieve the best outcome as an employer
As stated by Tamiru and Wagari (2021), it seems that effective communication skills and problem-solving skills help in boosting the performance of the business company. It also helps in managing the workability of the workforce. Implementing the effective communication process at the centre of the organization has definitely helped in boosting the performance of the company as it reduces the communication gap between the employees. The low communication gap between the employees always helps to take the best advice during the decision-making approach (Karnieli-Miller, 2020). Also, the good communication is help in boosting the team performance and collaboration of the project segments. On the other hand, the effective communication between all the huaraches will help in stakeholder engagement, furthermore which left positive impact on the business organization and increase productivity as result, the satisfaction level of customers will also increases. In addition to this, effective communication also helps in employee engagement, this the employees feel their involvement at the workplace. This, as an employer, it is really essential to develop effective communication between at the workplace of the organization.
Valentina et al. (2020), the problem skills between the employees and other co workers can be recognized as they must have skills to enhance the productivity of the company. Initially, for an employee to have problem-solving skills is one of the great achievements for their own self. It definitely helps them to achieve greater success on their future. The problem-solving skills of an employer help them to solve reasoning problems as well as lead them to achieve the leadership skills (Carpenter and Moser, 2020). Apart from the reasoning skills and analytical the problem solving skills also helps in developing the collaboration skill among employees it can be stated that , collaboration between the employees is one of the most essential skills should achieved by the employer to increase the sales fate and productivity of the company. On the other hand most of the global employer has been stated that to implement the effective communication skills as well as problem solving skills to achieve the best developmental growth of the company as well as to achieve the employees engagement at the workplace of the company. Thus, as an employer, tasks of the tube workforce are set after applying effective communication and problem solving initiatives at the workplace of the company.
Conclusion
The given study is based on the academic theory and reflective learning practices, thus the study concludes that the social educational theory can help the learner to become self motivated in the learning process. I realized that to get a job offer from the global IT solutions was one of my achievements. During this session, I have experienced posting and negative experiences. I have gained the personal and professional skills among myself. Thus, the study concludes that, the reflective learning practices have been helping an individual in their personal and professional development.
