Introduction
HR professionals perform their daily task on the ground of different HR skills possessed by them. The human resources department of an organization is responsible to manage the potential employees and manpower in the organization (Markkanen et al., 2020). Some of the major functions of HR departments are recruiting, onboarding, life cycle, hiring and training etc. Administration of employees’ benefits is the important role of HR managers. HR personals should have various HR skills to accomplish all these tasks. The reflection I made is based on personal development for which I will mention the two most essential HR skills I need to develop. Gibbs’ reflective cycle will be taken into use to get achievement from experience (Paterson and Chapman, 2013). The reason to use Gibbs’ reflective cycle is to directly approach core skills. This is the easiest reflection method on personal experience. The most important work of HR is to manage the human resource of the firm. This could be possible through different HR skills which are explained below.
HR skills
HR professionals require a different type of skills such as communication skills, Administrative experience, Pro-activity, Coaching, Advising, and Teamwork etc. All the skills are based on personal traits and the ability to manage people. Communication skills for HR professional are very important to bridge employees and business (Lawler and Boudreau, 2020). Through communication, most of the employees’ grievance could be resolved. HR professionals have to make good relationship between employees and management. This could be possible if HR professionals communicate with employees and ask about their issues with the management. Administrative skills are essential to managing the employees’ activity and role in the organization (Mahmood, Mohammed and Gilbert, 2021). Preparing absence files, leaves, output report and payroll are some of the administrative tasks to perform by HR professionals. Administrative expert possesses experience in all the activities and professional in his duties. Pro-activity is professional traits that could be developing with time which is not very hard for an individual. Reactive HRM is the synonym of Pro-activity which is essential for an HR professional to develop to prevent employees’ dissatisfaction (Lin et al., 2021).
Advising is one of the prime jobs of HR professional (Lawler and Boudreau, 2020). They have to advise the line manager to bring changes, suggesting employees for performance improvement, and resolving personnel issues. Coaching new employees and training new technology and skills is the duty of an HR professional. HR professional should be perfect to train employees and coach them to bring a positive outcome. Communication skills allow the HR professional to convey the message with full confidence. This supports an entrepreneur to keep employees motivated. Training and professional development of the employees becomes easier with communication skills (Johari and Jha, 2021). Administrative experts are the people who are responsible to manage the entire HR process. This is the most important expertise of an HR professional. To become a perfectionist in HR management it is essential to have adequate knowledge of HR functions. An HR manager always takes care of employees’ rewards and satisfaction. It could be possible through managing the salary and payroll of each employee properly.
Critical Reflection and Insights
I need to develop HR skills to gain expertise in HR management. I believe that employees could follow me when I have great HR skills and the ability to build a strong relationship with them. I here taking the help of Gibbs’ Reflective Cycle to learn from experience (Paterson and Chapman, 2013). The process of reflection under Gibbs’ reflective cycle starts with the description of the experience.
My experience in HR management is not very impressive. I need to work on various skills to become professional. I faced the problem in communication and management of staff. The management process was very difficult for me as a beginner (Cannity et al., 2021). I observed that management is the combination of managing skills and personal traits. I need to learn various HR skills to become a good HR professional. I feel that communication will help me to better understand the employees’ needs and expectation. During the module, many HR professionals’ achievements, highlighted into which I found one common thing that was communication skills and administrative expertise. Both the skills come with time and practice.
I am confident about developing these two essential skills for becoming an HR professional. For this, I will take the help of a personal development plan to take effective action towards it (Pitts, 2021). I analyzed the business requirement and employees’ expectations that helped me to work in those are to build a good relationship. I must learn to find the middle way to connect managers and employees which is possible through working with a centric approach that focuses on the satisfaction of both parties. Employees are the important players to improve my communication skills (Puscas, Kogan and Holmboe, 2021). I could connect with them directly to better understanding their needs and expectations from the organization. I must focus on organizational objective and mission to make decision goal-oriented. This would help me to treat employees as per the requirement. I decided to contact different people in the organization to gain knowledge about personnel behaviours.
Gibbs’ reflective cycle would help me to reflect on my experience (Paterson and Chapman, 2013). My experience in HR management was very poor at the initial stage that made me under-confident about the functionality of the business. As per the reflective cycle, I need to take action towards developing HR skills. For this, I would take the help of Gibbs’ reflective cycle personal development plan. This plan will guide me to improve my traits and develop skills (Contreras et al., 2020). Management skill development is a gradual process that comes with time. The personal development plan will instruct me to be focused on my goal and keep working on the development of skills. This is a completely personal development plan where I will be monitoring the achievements and loopholes in making decisions and communicating with employees and colleague.
For better achievement in the development of HR skills, I am taking the help of a future action plan which is a PDP or personal development plan that will support me to work on basic resources required to develop these two skills. Before creating a personal development plan I need to have a smart objective which I have decided already (Contreras et al., 2020). Communication skills and administrative expertise are the two smart objectives of me to achieve. My achievement will be mentioned regularly for better improvement. I will work on my area of improvement during the development process and take advice from experts for more perfection in my learning process.

Conclusion
The above reflection on the development of HR skills will help me to understand the administrative process and management of people. After getting fluency in communication I will be working for teamwork. My reflection is based on Gibbs’ reflective cycle that helped me to channelize the reflective process and learns from experience. I must focus on organizational objective and mission to make decision goal-oriented. This would help me to treat employees as per the requirement. To become a perfectionist in HR management it is essential to have adequate knowledge of HR functions. An HR manager always takes care of employees’ rewards and satisfaction. I learned so many new things from this reflection process where constructive personal development was the best one. Many HR skills come with time and did not include in personal development for the reason of right timing.
