Section 1: Analysis of the company’s strategic position

The Belgrade Theatre is situated at the city centre of Coventry having a large community and some engaging people and most of the performers are from the UK. The Belgrade theatre usually supports different kinds of cultural programs in their threats which seem to be useful for students as well as universities. According to Sari and Subagyo (2020), the main strength of the organization is that they have some dedicated staff and artists with cooperation from a large number of people. The weakness that seems to arise is that by opening their theatres and government does not provide any kind of positive signal for it. The only opportunity is that due to the application of Brexit they do not need to face huge difficulty as most of their employees and staff.

External environment of the company

Bargaining power of the suppliers (Low) – The Belgrade theatre is looking to enhance the quality of their artists’ productions and direct them in such a way that they can produce some quality results. According to Porter (2017), apart from that, there is a general manager who looks at talent development, participation as well as engagement of their artists and returns most of the capital for their viewers as it is a charity organization.

Bargaining power of customers (Medium) – The bargaining power of the customers seemed to be high as they had to pre-book their shows and once theory shows got cancelled money needed to be returned for them. Apart from that Coventry is not considered as a wealthy city that does not make huge amounts of money for theatres.

The threat for the new substituent’s (High) – The new substituent’s the young generation is enjoying in this pandemic is that with their OTT platforms for watching web shows as well as movies. It creates problems for them as the craze of theatres is seemingly decreasing to a huge extent.

Competitive rivalry (Low) – The conditions of other theatres are also quite similar to them and they also watched their scenario for attracting customers in their theatres. According to Holman (2020), in the post-pandemic times, they need to maintain a social distance in their theatres and it can create problems for them IN 200 seats.

Threat of new entry (Low) – It is quite difficult for a new organization to provide a huge challenge for Belgrade theatre and start a new business in this current situation.

2. Strategic position of the company

Strategic position is considered as an approach which deals with the impact of strategy both external as well as internal for influencing their stakeholders and assessing the current strategy suitable for Belgrade Theatres. According to Bleuer et al. (2018), in order to enhance their organization and engage each of the participants, the managers and leaders need to make effective communication with their artists regularly. Apart from that, they need to provide an online notification about the postponed date of the events panto and due to the aggressive nature of COVID 19; it gets postponed for 1 year. The leadership quality that Hamish has shown as a chief executive and as a senior director is quite impressive. Belgrade Theatre is considered as one of the oldest theatres in the UK and was prepared after World War II and conveys with some live performances and is capable of attracting viewers quite properly.

The tools that have been used for identifying the internal, as well as external markets are the SWOT and Porter 5 forces model. According to PAUZAITE (2018), using this tool the challenges that Belgrade organization is currently facing can easily be understood and its associated opportunity for their further growth. Despite that, it also helps to understand the new substituent’s such as OTT platforms which keep the entertainment at a new pace at this tough time. The needs of their customers in the present month are that they want to watch their favourite theatres by maintaining all the norms of COVID rules (Jortner et al. 2021). Otherwise, most of the customers showed their interest in returning the amount of money which seems to be nearly £1 million and it can be difficult for them to refund this huge money in a short period of time (As per the case study).

3. Identifying main issues that address the organization

  1. Unable to sustain the revenue margin

The pandemic situation has a huge impact on The Belgrade Theatre and the organization’s stakeholders. During the pandemic situation the company has lost 77% of their income at the end of the month of 2020. As argued by Rababah et al. (23020), during this situation they have decided to keep their strategy in the short term for the best for theatre as they have closed their theatre at the moment of pandemic. The Belgrade theatre had to refund the money that the audience bought for the theatre. The organization had to refund the money which they had not performed which was £1 million in quite short order. The company’s cash flow could strain and they had to build up a level of reserves (Case study).

  1. Lack in making decision due to bad leadership skills

The Belgrade theatre had a huge problem with re-open the theatre as the government could not give any indication of re-open the theatre in this period. The organization could not make any decision whether to open the theatre to performance initially. The organization had no shows in August and they had no shows in the spring and summer season. As cited by Boukherroub et al. (2018), the organization had an autumn season show which was Panto shows which had a huge impact on sales and they had to cancel during the pandemic situation. Therefore, the organization could not make any decision for the COVID-19 situation where they did not want to make decisions due to bad leadership. III. Issues in team work due to lack in communication process

The Belgrade theatre has issues of teamwork as the staff of the Belgrade were working and operating differently in nature. The way they normally operated they could not work normally during this situation.

The major issue of the team working is to communicate with the other stakeholders of the organization. Belgrade has faced a communication problem with the stakeholders of internal and the external stakeholder which has made them worse in their own strategy. As argued by Froggett et al. (2018), the teamwork problem has a huge impact on the organization where they could not make any decision properly and they could not work properly in the strategy.  (Case study).

 Section 2: Recommendation for the organization

The company has decision-making problems during the pandemic situation and decreasing income level and the team work performance throughout the year within the staff of the organization. There are few recommendations for the company that should be focused on the internal and external aspects of the issues which have been faced by the organization during the pandemic situation. The report has proposed three major recommendations for the company which they need to be followed, which are as follows:

  1. Innovation in leadership strategy to increase revenue

The Belgrade should be focused on the secondary events for the organization which does sales to the upright. The post-shows, meet the various companies for the extension within the industry. As cited by Lorenzo et al. (2018), visit various artists and should use several online platforms where they can promote their theatre on social media platforms. Hence, the audience can easily reach out to the artists and can easily see their performances on social media platforms.

The process of cross-sell can fix the company’s strategy over the higher amount of price for their tickets to increase their leadership strategy to achieve innovative ideas to make during this situation. The teamwork of the organization could not operate properly during the out breaking situation. The team leadership approach has to provide the corrective actions for the organization when the leader could not operate properly.

The leadership style is focused on decision-making, problem-solving, getting the better quality for the organizations. An effective leadership approach helps to get the knowledge of innovative ideas, creative ideas to upright the sales for the organization. As cited by Purwanto et al. (2020), the leader should be aware of the maintenance of the team where every stakeholder should be maintained by the leader where they can work optimally and contribute to the organization effectively. The leader should be focused on the effectiveness of the stakeholders where they can maximize their performance so that the company can optimize their profit in a given period.

The leader should be aware of the economic activity where their behaviour should be flexible toward the internal stakeholder and the external stakeholders as well. As cited by Whitehead (2018), the behaviour of the leadership would help the organizations’ staff effectively and achieve their objectives for their strategy. Effective leaders should be focused on the intervention by an accurate mental model which is the team’s problem and achieving the team decision-making problem.

III. Effective communications between the staff and the organization

Communication is an essential part of interaction where the organization can build their network through the online platform and effective communication can easily help the entire stakeholders for the organization. Communication skills are important for an organization to develop and empathies with new ideas of creation. As cited by Alert (2017), stakeholders can easily interact with each other and work optimally in the organization. Optimizing the interaction between the stakeholders and the organization should be focused by the organization to achieve their future growth.

The leader should maintain effective communication between the stakeholders and the organizations through their own strategy. As argued by Holmes et al. (2018), an effective communication between the staff and the organization should be focused by the leaders where the interaction between them through occasional meetings, communicates with supervisors. Effective communication skills should be concerned with the hierarchies of the organization which can help the company towards growth for the future.

Section 3: Implementation of the recommendation

The report has discussed several tools and techniques of leadership and communication strategy for the company which should be focused by the organization to growth for the future aspects. There are various tools and theories and models which have been discussed by this report which have to be analysed in the recommendation part of the report.

  1. Implementation of leadership style

The leadership style is known as the general pattern of the corrective actions which the leader has to reach their set of goals for their future growth. Based on the report, the leadership style for the organization has been very poor due to the pandemic situation. Therefore, during this pandemic they have faced a lower amount of income where they had to return all the money which was bought by the audience which was around £1 million. The company should implement such a leadership style which can help their strategy for their growth. As cited by Asbari et al. (2019), the leader of the organization should implement several leadership styles which can make them better off for their growth in the organization. The leader should implement Transactional leadership, Transformational leadership, Laissez-faire leadership which should be adopted in their behaviour for the growth.

Transactional leadership

Transactional leadership is focused on the bottom line of the strategy where they can easily establish parameters, guidelines, rewards for those staff that have the ability to reach the objectives and punishment for those who are unable to reach the objective for the organization. As cited by Puchalski et al. (2020), the leadership of the organization should adopt the transactional leadership for their strictness towards their staff.

Transformational leadership

Transformational leadership set their standard toward uprightness where the trust and confidence of their followers in the organization. The leaders of Belgrade theatre help the staff to develop their skills by adopting new innovative ideas and creativity for the organization to contribute effectively.

Laissez-faire leadership

Laissez-faire leadership is focused on the limitation of interaction between the organization and the followers, where the followers have the right to make a proper decision for the organization as well. As cited by Niswaty et al. (2019), the leadership should adopt such a leadership style where they can easily interact with their staff and followers to make a proper decision for the organization towards growth for the future.

  1. Implementation of communication

Communication strategy should be maintained by the organization as the communication is an essential part of the interaction between the followers and the organizations. The communication strategy is the bridge of the citation where the vision where the analysis has been discussed in this report. Social and behavioural change communication can reach the vision for the organization and correct the problem of the actions where the staff and the organization were unable to communicate with each other. As cited by Azaizah et al. (2018), the communication strategy enables the stakeholders and the partners of the organization to put the effort upon the best way to forward the actions to meet the company’s objectives effectively.  The strategy for the communication can help Belgrade towards sustainability for the future growth. iii. Implementation of the leadership strategy

Organization with effective leaders sometimes occurs in a difficult position in the strategy of their growth where they cannot grow properly and spread the network through the social media platform. As argued by Rono et al. (2019), the leadership of the Belgrade covered their high cost without earning any huge profit throughout the year and satisfied the audience without expanding their business in the field. The leadership should adopt the mindset with the development of their decision making, adopting new ideas to make the organization grow for the future aspects. Belgrade should distribute the work to the highly effective employees in the organization so that they contribute their productivity in the organization and earn a huge profit from their effectiveness.  The leadership of the organization should know the information and the difficulties arising in the business so that they can decide properly for challenges in the market strategy for their expansion.

The leadership strategy should be focused on the value statement where the leaders encourage their employees of the organization to fail and learn from the errors. The leaders of Belgrade should know all the aspects of the development of the organization and have encouragement to train their employees. As argued by Tawse et al. (2019), in a firm it is essential to have an autocratic leadership style which would allow taking fast decision-making for an organization. An autocratic leader can handle situations under criticism, for which productivity could be improved in the long run. It suggested the disadvantage of autocratic leadership in the job responsibility.

Under the autocratic leadership style, the overall production and communication between manager and the employee would be enhanced. As argued by Ateş et al. (2020), employees would not be under any stress situation as an autocratic leader takes all its responsibilities. On the other hand, the disadvantage of implementing autocratic leadership often leads to mismanagement and it also creates a work culture based on its leaders of Belgrade. Implementation of autocratic leadership style would create a lack of trust among the stakeholders and the managers.  Depending on the leaders is solely implemented under the autocratic leadership.

Section 4: Critical Reflection

Description

I think that it is necessary for me to develop my leadership skills and it will be useful for me to effectively work in team-based work culture. The Participative Leadership approach will be a perfect fit for me as I always wanted to work in a team-based workplace. The current module has taught me several leadership approaches however I am more focused on team-oriented workplace culture to work in the future. However, I need to change my time management and team management skills to be a better professional

(Chen and Huang, 2017). I believe in situational-based analysis rather than any particular framework. The current module has helped me to develop a greater sense of working in a collaborative workspace.

Feelings

I want to be a better professional in the future and I think that I have to improve in several areas for fulfilling my achievements. I lack time management skills and it is a major aspect of working in a team-based workplace. Deadlines are important and every person must follow guidelines to meet deadlines according to my opinion (Frunză, 2017). I lack understanding and define specific points from an ongoing conversation. It affects my team management skills and I need to improve this as soon as possible.

Evaluation

I learned several issue identification strategies in this module and such strategies will be helpful for me in the future to point out any difficulties. I must address that conducting a detailed gap analysis will be beneficial for me to identify my potential development areas (Frunză, 2017). The identified areas must be enhanced as soon as possible and it will be effective for me to emphasize my leadership skills suitability. I think that conducting a personal SWOT analysis will be useful for me to identify any gaps.

Analysis

I already targeted my career options for the future as I want to work for a reputed company as a consultant manager. The criterion will be useful for me to identify the necessary developments required to be a better professional (Rose, 2018). I am also likely to engage with a workplace that has provided me with adequate flexibility. I am more focused on working in a flexible environment and apply my professional skills to meet organizational goals.

Conclusion

I must focus on developing my lacking areas and prepare a detailed schedule for completing tasks for personal as well as professional enhancements. I must encourage myself to achieve more in the future as it will help me to develop more positive experiences regarding personal development. As influenced by Frunză, (2017), particular skill sets are required for me, especially time management plans. I must include several time managements tools such as a stopwatch to complete each and every task separately.

Action Plan

I have excellent critical thinking and analysis skills and it will help me to improve my leadership skills. However, I lack active listening skills and am unable to communicate properly with others (Rose, 2018). I have to prepare myself by improving these criteria and it will help me to reach my personal achievements.
