Assignment Sample on 7BUS2039 Strategic Leadership & HR Management

Introduction

The main aim of this reflective portfolio is to present the personal experiences which I have encountered while completing the module successfully. The reflective portfolio will consist of my contributions towards while analysing marketing and operating structure of Netflix, learning and overall group performance, team building, and things that could have been improved while conducting the assessment.

Contribution

Group projects are extensively crucial as every person needs to be assigned by different responsibilities which at the end sums up the whole project by achieving positive and successful outcome (Docket hq, 2020). Data analysis is referred to as a vital part of any project giving it a meaning and strength for successful completion (Resagratia, 2020). Thus, my contribution towards the successful completion of the project was to analyse the data obtained from various sources in respect to Netflix. Additionally, as per the data, it has been seen that the growth of Netflix has increased massively as the people were witnessed to be surfing Netflix during the span of Covid due to lockdowns and other factors. Therefore, my contribution has played a major role in giving a strong meaning to our group project and making of the group posters with the help of appropriate graphs, images, and statistics.

Learning and overall group performance

The key to a successful group performance is the communication, which facilitates a smooth coordination of work without much issues (June, 2017). Hence, to achieve the project goals more conveniently without imposing pressure to one particular team member we segmented the overall project into different tasks. However, there was an extensive level of communication gap which created several issues in terms of working in a collaborative manner. Confusions were arising as to who would do what and duplication or repetition of work can be identified. It is my personal belief that with the mitigation of the communication gap, our group could have reached a ceiling level of success.

Team building

Communication gaps can create several issues while lack of motivation, misunderstandings, ineffective group coordination and others. Primarily, it needs to be mentioned that due to the aspect of communication gap an issue of team building and collaboration could be seen among the group members as the assigned tasks were unknown and promotion of work cannot be ascertained without the loss of time. A healthy communication can back a team with quick actions facilitating time saving (Mukhiddinova et al. 2021). However, due to these issues, collaboration and instant and quick actions were critical to achieve.

Improvements

Based on my experiences I have identified that there has been a clear lack of communication within the entire group. Therefore, in terms of improvements, I would like to add that improving communication skills are necessary to facilitate effective teamwork and collaboration within the group. Due to the lack of communication, we are falling short of achieving objectives that significantly increased the risk. Moreover, I also found that there has been a problem linked with decision making and cooperation, which was also another consequence of poor communication. Hence, I believe in future projects improving communication within the entire team can effectively help in resolving the existing issues and that we faced during this project (Soni, 2020). Even, there was also a communication gap while developing the poster for the project and team members were reluctant regarding the final design and this can also be improved by effective collaboration and communication.

Conclusion

Based on the above reflections of me working in the group I have identified several issues that we faced as a group. The study also elaborates my role and contribution that played a major role in achieving the objectives along with things that could be improved in the future.
