Introduction

As an art manager my interest is to work in a team and organise events and also my interest in working film industry as part of production team in promotion team. Mental health problems have arisen in times of COVID-19, which has created issues in a lot of businesses. Film and television industry have also faced mental health issues in times of pandemic, which has increased attempt of suicides. Lack of creativity was also one of reasons; people suffered from depression in film and television industries which caused mental health challenges. This study would discuss many challenges of environmental factors that have affected mental health of people from film and television industry in times of pandemic. Suggestions of new interventions would also be given in this study to further discuss ways to mitigate these issues in this industry.

Intervention

  • In film and TV industry, research has shown that from 9 to 10 people are nearly experiencing mental health problems.
  • This has given insights that mental health challenges are increased due to “bullying, harassing and lack of creativity” in film industry.
  • Therefore, proper interventions are needed to increase stability among film and TV industry workers so that they would be able to increase their creativity in this industry.
  • Government needs to provide therapeutic support to actors and people associated in film industry by amending Equality Act in terms of delivering equality to all, as per my opinion.
  • With a government amendment, organising mental health conferences as well as events would be beneficial for people that are working in film industry.
  • Post-pandemic regulations, like “work from home” have created huge mental pressure which is associated with lack of creativity in film and television industry.
  • Narrative of social issues are mostly faced by more than 80% of men in this industry, which has created problems in making variations in films (Kumar et al. 2021).
  • Thus, to increase stability among men in this industry, there needs to be intervention in “anger management and group communication meetings”.
  • Involving therapists would be a great idea who would be providing psychotherapy to people suffering from depression through maintaining regular communication.

Therefore, tackling anger with proper guidance with anger training by communication would help workers to increase their stability in mental health. Organising events would help in taking insights of students as well as professionals of mental health sectors, which would help individuals working in film industry to achieve success in gaining a positive mental health. Along with this, roles of skilled therapists need to be considered as important factors who would be conducting group sessions with individuals, working in film and television industry.

  • Group meetings are effective aspects which include extensive communication among people where therapists take leading roles to execute interaction in a proper way.
  • In this intervention, people talk in each round and tell something about themselves, which helps them to open up about their issues transparently with time.
  • Therapists would be encouraging individuals to share their problems to each other so that they get to know about others’ situations which would help them feel relaxed.
  • Thus, this criterion would help in achieving success in increasing communication skills and meetings are always conducted with a diverse group (Powles et al. 2020).

Diverse group meetings help to incorporate inclusivity among people where individuals, coming from different backgrounds, would feel accepted and valued with the group. These meetings are to be led by therapists who would be ensuring proper communication among people. This would help in increasing positive behaviour towards people regardless of their different culture.

  • This would help in creating scope for a rich history in film industry because before people did not focus on mental health.
  • Mental health is given priority in this industry to increase their survival so that they are able to perform something they prefer.
  • On other hand, this industry would face challenges in providing these interventions as their main budget is on their projects.
  • Lack of financial support from both government and film, TV industry would create problems in providing these services to workers but government has been able to convey their sources effectively.
  • On other hand, there is a need for many infrastructures through government initiatives such as “mandatory mental health check-ups through this therapy” session.

Anger management also helps in improving triggered depressive episodes and impacts on people positively than most interventions.

  • “Increase of abuse, domestic violence and mental illness” rapidly, which has created imbalance in their mental health. These are some common factors of social issues for people in film and television industry, which have an increased effect on mental health.

This study has discussed many factors of concluding different mental health challenges that are faced by film and television industry due to pandemic. Pandemic has raised a lot of mental health issues, which has created problems in creativity industry of films. Some people even lost their jobs due to insufficient budgeting and financial conditions. This has led to discussion of “social, political and economic” challenges that are faced by film and television industry. It has led to many problems, which is inconsistent towards a healthy approach to people working in that department. Thus, it can be said that there are many factors in business, which are attainable in considering various intervention methods to create effective criteria for film and television industry. Discussion of three major interventions to improve mental health of people working in film and television industry is identified. Along with this, roles and responsibilities of therapists to address mental issues of individuals working in film industry have been identified. Thus, with proper understanding of all criteria it is essential that people choose these interventions for improving their mental health. Government needs to be involved in developing group communication therapy that can be accessed by many health sectors for improving mental health conditions.
