The terms mortality and morbidity, though not identical, are often related to each other. Morbidity relates to the state of being ill for a specific situation or disease. Costs of the West African society increased to double due to the increased spread of communicable diseases that spread fast. Causes of the rapid spread can be globalization, climatic change and urbanization.

Moreover, providing proper schooling facilities and building medically advanced clinics can help tackle the problem of the spread of infectious disease.

Disease prevention and health promotion programs focus on “keeping people healthy”. Heath promotion policies and programs aim to empower and engage communities and individuals to make changes in their daily habits and lifestyle, choose healthy behaviours and decrease the risk of developing chronic morbidities. The three main strategies for promoting health are building healthy public policies, creating supportive environments to strengthen community action plans andre-orient health services for better public health and reduction of infant mortality rate. Communication and creating awareness regarding health is very crucial for providing a better heath environment.

The study shows that child mortality and morbidity remains a paramount health challenge for the healthcare units and government of West Africa.Despite various efforts to tackle morbidity and mortality rate in infants, it is crucial to start an intervention of healthcare on a global level.
