2.3. Implementation of Strategic Information Systems

Analysis of situation

It is to be noted that in order to implement the strategic information system within the information systems it is essential for the respective organisation to analyse both the internal as well as external business environment. The analysis of the internal and external business environment allows the respective organisation to understand the required processes and functions needed for the implementation (Tallon et al. 2019). The analysis further provides information regarding the existing services, organisational standards, policies, and performance indicators that might affect due to the implementation.

Therefore, the analysis allows the respective organisation to evaluate its organisational environment in order to develop plans to manage and mitigate the risks and threats associated with the external and internal business atmosphere. Moreover, the evaluation of the organisational situation also allows the firms to prepare their organisational staff and employees to withstand technological change.

Furthermore, it also allows the organisation to evaluate both its internal as well as external dependencies, its contemporary installed organisational equipment and tools (Dudukalov et al. 2021). Hence, the analysis of the current situation supports the concerned organisation to conceptualise its strategy to withstand the change.

The conceptualisation of the strategy

The gathered data-driven information from the analysis of the current organisational internal and external analysis allows the concerned organisation to conceptualise its potent strategy to implement the SIS as well as withstand its implementation effect. The situational analysis provides knowledge regarding the concerned organisation’s financial, technical, and performance attributes (Mendling et al. 2018).

Therefore, the concerned organisation is required to conceptualise the implementation strategy based on its attributes of cost savings feasibility and investment aspects. However, the attributes of technical architectural components, namely, the trailing edge, bleeding edge, and leading edge would support the concerned organisation to conceptualise its potent strategy.

The attributes of trailing edge technology would help the concerned organisation to acquire older software as well as old hardware (Carillo et al. 2021). However, the maintenance of older software, as well as older software, is happened to have cost-friendly maintain. The aptitude of old software and hardwares would create additional financial pressure on the concerned firms.

The attributes of the bleeding edge technology happened to be expensive but it has the potential to improve productivity, but it is prone to major risks due to its complex insatiable nature. However, the leading-edge technology is cost-friendly and operates at low risk.

Implementation

It is to be noted that the attributes of situation analysis help to conceptualise the respective strategies. After the conceptualisation of the strategy, it is time for implementation. Therefore, depending on the financial attributes and risk management the strategic information system is required for implementation. However, certain aspects are required to look after during the implementation of the strategy (Mendling et al. 2018).

The aspects include standardisation and acquisition. Disaster recovery, and change management. It is to be noted that the attributes of standardisation entail the notion of the concerned organisation’s capability to adapt and withstand the change. The aspect of the acquisition is the provided guidelines that are needed to be maintained for the implementation of the strategy as well as withstanding the technological change.

Furthermore, Disaster recovery generally involves the concerned strategies vision to ensure the progression of business through maintaining the business environment (Chanias et al. 2019). Moreover, the aspect of change management generally refers to the concerned organisation’s vision to accommodate the strategic information system’s prolific initiatives in order to elevate itself from a competitive standpoint.

2.4. Risk associated with SIS

Limited innovation

The conceptualization of strategic information systems indeed helps a concerned organisation to generate new ideas to develop its organisational performance and standard. However, the respective organisation must have access to proper technical support to implement the conceptualisation of new ideas. Therefore the lack of support from the proper technologies creates risks associated with organisational innovation.

Furthermore, the aspect of strategic information systems required effective organisational visions to handle the difficulty of the infeasibility of innovation (Kwilinski, 2018). Moreover, the lack of an innovative approach threatens the business growth and competitive standpoint of the concerned organisations. Hence, limited innovation leads to the defective performance of the concerned organisation. The lack of organisational performance further leads to business failure.

Equipment problems

The respective implementation of the strategic information required a concerned organisation to implement strategic tools and equipment to maintain the strategic protocols effectively. It is to be noted that the strategic tools include digital links, digital signals, satellite suppliers, and electronic documents. Moreover, the maintenance of the equipment is cost-effective. It is difficult to maintain the proper functioning of the strategic tools due to their unstable nature.

Furthermore, the equipment problems often break the performance rhythm of the concerned organisations. It is to be noted that the improper functioning of the equipment also creates financial pressure on the concerned organisation (Hofmann et al. 2020). Furthermore, in order to reduce the financial pressure by addressing the equipment problems, the concerned organisations often make alternate decisions that provide a remedy for a short note.

Complexity in system development

It is evident that in order to accomplish fundamental as well as technological feasibility it is important to develop the organisational telecommunication standard, inter-organisational collaboration, and the attributes of “bleeding edge technology”.  Despite obtaining the support of the telecommunication standard, inter-organisational collaboration, and the attributes of “bleeding edge technology” it is complex for the concerned organisation to develop systems. The attributes of telecommunication standards often create problems for the organisational staff and the employees (Hofmann et al. 2020).

It is to be noted that the telecommunication equipment creates complex challenges for the staff. Moreover, the lack of technical and business skills from the staff’s perspective further creates complexities regarding system development. The lack of collaboration between the telecommunication tools and organisational staff further creates financial pressure on the firm (Yeow et al. 2018). The financial pressures further affect organisational performance and business competition.

Expensive nature of the systems

It is to be noted that the process of maintaining the proper functioning of the strategic information system is expensive. The implemented equipment required constant monitoring and upgrade (Yeow et al. 2018). Moreover, the improper functioning of the equipment also creates financial pressure on the concerned organisation. Furthermore,  financial pressures further affect organisational performance and business competition. Hence, the expensive nature of the strategic information system affects the organisational vision and performance rhythm.

3. Conclusion

It can be concluded that the application of a strategic information system would help the respective organisation Transputec Ltd achieve a competitive advantage and act according to its organisational mission. Moreover, the application of the strategic information theory would also help the organisation Transputec Ltd to evaluate software services attributes to achieve its organisational mission as well as improve its organisational performance.

It is to be noted that the scanning and scrutinisation of the firm’s external environment would help the respective organisation to identify the positive as well as negative factors that could affect the firm’s overall organisational performance. Furthermore, the attributes of the bleeding edge technology happened to be expensive but it has the potential to improve the productivity of Transputec Ltd. The application of the Industry 4.0 would allow the organisation to store data-driven information for a long time.

4. Recommendation

Staff orientation

The initiative of providing authentic training, orientation, and guidance to organisational staff and employees would help the concerned organisation Transputec Ltd to prepare its staff for the technical and strategic changes. It is to be noted that providing training, orientation, and guidance to employees would also help them to enhance their technological awareness and knowledge (Papadopoulos et al. 2020).

The initiative would further mitigate the risk associated with the lack of technical and business skills from the staff. Furthermore, it would help to establish cooperative relations between the staff and the telecommunication tools and equipment.

Development of alternative strategic options

The development of the alternative strategic options would help the concerned organisation Transputec Ltd to develop effective organisational visions to handle the difficulty of the infeasibility of innovation.

Cooperation between the stakeholders and firm

The support and cooperation between the stakeholders and the firm would help the concerned organisation Transputec Ltd to develop its alternative strategic options (Taeihagh and Lim, 2019). It is to be noted that the support of the stakeholders would allow the organisation to reduce the financial pressures caused by the lack of proper functioning of the equipment.
