Similarly, the food industry conducts thousands of transactions in a day and online payment leads to making final data prone to cyber breaching.

Blockchain technology can induce transparency in the whole system and process of food entry that have several benefits such as companies can analyse data related to food tampering, false advertising and wastage of food. Similarly, decrease in food spoiling can enhance sustainability of the UK food industry and increase their profit margins as well (Sharma et al. 2021).

Business companies can deploy blockchain technology and contribute higher revenue to the economic system of their respective countries. As commented by Park and Li (2021), future supply chain practices can be positively impacted by this technology as supply chains can be tracked and food supplies can be received in a time-efficient manner. (2019), this issue needs to be mitigated in the post-covid era so that supply chain management can be improved and the food industry can earn higher revenues to support the economic system of the United Kingdom.

Strategies that can be used to mitigate the challenges of blockchain technology

Strategies that can be deployed while mitigating challenges of blockchain technology is financial support by the UK government to encourage food pantries to implement blockchain technology in their supply chain management activities (Duan et al. 2020). Similarly, training must be given to the workforce so that they can understand the importance of blockchain technology and guide future generations to utilise modern tools to improve supply chain performance and transparency.

Overall, it also comes from Wang et al. (2019), supply chain management can be secured and confidential data can be maintained if blockchain technology is used in storing information. As a result, these stars must be deployed to mitigate scarcity of labourers and enhance awareness in the UK food industry so that they can gather funds to utilise modern techies and support the economic stability of the United Kingdom.

Future scope of this research topic

Future researchers can conduct a primary survey and interview to gather information about current issues that are faced by the food industry and how adversities of covid-19 can be reduced by depleting blockchain technology. (2021), blockchain technology is a progressive tool and it must be included in university and college courses as that labour shortage can be reduced in industry and professional workplaces. Future scope of blocking technology is significantly high and this research study has aimed at outlining all such dimensions that can allow future researchers to re-evaluate this topic. Future scope of research can aim to resolve loopholes in this research.

Gaps in literature

Major gap that is answered in the chosen literature that is relevant to the topic is their accuracy of methodology. Methodology used in most of these papers is review of secondary resources such as articles and journals to gather relevant data about chosen topics (Rejeb et al. 2019). However, deployment of surveys or interviews could be beneficial as it helps in addressing significant changes in current industry and how they can be resolved by blockchain technology.

As influenced by Paliwal et al. (2020),a survey could have been done over a virtual platform to prevent violation of covid-19 recruits in 2020 Though there is an in-depth analysis of collected data, there is a lack of idea about current practices and challenges that the UK food industry is currently facing in supply chain management and how blockchain technology can mitigate come tier issues. Similarly, researchers have failed to outline ethical considerations and search strategy that is being used to search secondary resources.

Conclusion

Overall, it can be concluded that this blockchain technology contributes significantly to the world of digitisation. Blockchain technology has serial dates and disagrees, however, it can provide higher profit margins to UK food industry by enhancing transparency and ability to track food in supply chain.

Waste and spoilage of food can be reduced and demand forecasts can be done as well. Blockchain technology not only enhances transparency, but also secures financial transactions and assists supply chain companies to either contain data related to customers. It is also analysed that lack of skilled labours and technical assistance can lead to several challenges, but it can be mitigated by providing necessary training to employees.
