The next risk factor is the scarcity of funds and this risk may be mitigated by effective pre-planning for identifying wider options for funds as well as ensuring every fund in optimally utilized in the project (Hamid, 2018). Another crucial risk in setting up a hydropower project is construction risks.

These risks are associated with the available infrastructure and construction planning. The risks of construction can be eliminated by engaging skilled and qualified contractors who possess excellent track records in previous work experiences with similar projects.

All of them must be well-insured and that the entire construction work should be thoroughly supervised by project supervisors or managers so that they can handle if any problem arises during the course of action. There should be slippage time to cope with arising adverse climatic conditions in the target location. Lastly, the supply of water or level of rainfall may pose a threat to the project.

The amount of power generated by the project is associated with the volume of water. This supply may vary and can affect the generation of electricity as well as business profitability.

From the above analysis, it may be concluded that although there are potential risks, operational challenges, and political threats for the company to get established in the UK, yet there are opportunities for the company to get recognized as a leading hydropower company globally.

There are core competencies of the company that may drive through the success of the project in the UK. As customers aim at shifting to sustainable business options and often willing to pay more for environmentally sustainable products and services, the company stands a chance to develop its business sustainably in the UK.
