Exploring  Institutional  Drivers And Barriers Of Circular Economy:

Introduction:

Circular economy is essential to develop the environment health. During the production, carbon dioxide emission is increased as well as well as greenhouse production also increased. The linear economy system is based on the take, make and dispose. According to the linear economy system, manufacturer take natural resources to produce different products. by the process of make, materials are taken for production after production, products are distributed to consumers. By the process of linear, carbon emission is increases as well as greenhouse gas emission is increased. Circular economy system is essential to develop the production process. By the process of circular, wastage materials are recycled so, the process helps to reduce carbon dioxide emission and greenhouse gas emission. Greenhouse gas has a negative impact on the environment. Global warming is increased by greenhouse gas production as well as it impacts on the climate change of world. So, all of the manufacturer should be aware about the production process to reduce the carbon emission and greenhouse gas emission. By the compare of linear economy system and circular economy system, circular economy system has the advantage to keep the balance of biodiversity and ecosystem. The aim of the study is to analysis the drivers and barriers of circular economy (Suárez-Eiroa et al., 2019).

Discussion:

Circular economy has a positive impact on the environment. By the linear economy system, environment pollution is increased. According to the linear economy system, products are produced and after production, products are distributed among consumers. Finally, waste products are landfilled that increases the environment pollution. So, all of the manufacturer should be aware regarding the production process. The circular economy system is the best process to reduce the pollution of environment. Circular economy system helps to keep balance of ecosystem and biodiversity of the environment. Circular economy system is based on different processes such as sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products are produced as requirement. The aim of circular economy system is that design the production process to reduce waste and pollution materials, products and materials should be reused and recycled, and another process is that regenerate the natural resources. Circular economy system helps to keep the balance of biodiversity and eco-system. Ecosystem is essential to survive of animals. Linear economy system impacts on the climate change and environment (Hao et al., 2020).

Cycle of circular economy system:

Circular economy system has two types of cycle one is biological cycle and another is technological cycle. The circular process helps to recycle, repair, and reuse of products.

Biological cycle:

Biological cycle is based on the production of nutrients and these nutrients are used by consumers. After consumption of nutrients, wastage materials are landfilled. Wastage materials increases the nutrients of soil. At the first stage of the biological cycle, plants take nutrient from soil and animals take plant as nutrient that helps to grow the animal. Humans are taking animals as food finally, after consumption of food wastage materials again goes to soil that increases nutrition soil. By the circular process, nutrients go from the soil to plant, then nutrients go from plant to animal, after that nutrients goes from animal to human, after that nutrients go from human to soil. By the circular process nutrients circulate from soil to soil. By the process, ecosystem is balanced and biodiversity of environment is balanced by circular biological cycle process. The biological process has a positive impact on the environment. circular process keeps the balance of ecosystem and biodiversity.

Technological cycle:

Technological cycle has a significant role to keep the environment pollution free and reduce carbon dioxide emission as well as reduce the greenhouse gas production. Manufacturer should rethink about the process of production to keep the environment pollution free. As well as reduce carbon dioxide production and reduce emission of greenhouse gas production. manufacturer should design the production process of goods. Repair process has an advantage to reuse the product and reuse of product helps to reduce the environment pollution. The landfill process is reduced by repair system. Manufacturer should design the production process to reduce the landfill by wastage products (Korhonen et al., 2018).

So, biological cycle and technological cycle has a positive impact to keep the environment free from pollution. Mainly, circular economy system is based on different factors such as sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products are produced as requirement. By the process of linear economy system, environment is polluted as well as disrupt the ecosystem and biodiversity of the world.

Benefits of circular economy system:

Circular economy system has benefits to the environment. There are different benefits of circular economy system such as:

Reduce of greenhouse production:

Renewable energy is used by the process of circular economy system and reduce the use of fossil fuel. As a result, reduce the greenhouse emission. The production process should be advanced and by the production process quality products are produced that reduce the environment pollution (Pollice, 2018).

Healthy soil:

By the process of circular economy system, nutrient is taken from soil by plant and at the end wastage materials go to soil that increase the quality of soil. Anaerobic process develops the quality of soil. By the reduction of fertilizers increases the quality of soil.

Reduce of negative externalities:

Negative externalities such as land, soil, water and air pollution are controlled by the process of circular economy system. As a result, managed the climate change and toxic materials of the environment.

Potential increase of economy:

Circular economy system increases the potential growth of economy. According to the process, advanced technology is used for the quality production. As a result, productivity is increased as well as potential economy is increased.

Save resources:

Circular economy system helps to save resources. By the process, reuse and recycle method is followed as a result natural resources saved. Save of natural resources keep the balance of biodiversity and ecosystem of the world (Wastling et al., 2018).

Employment growth:

Manufacturer use advanced technology for the production of quality product so, employment is increased and the economic growth also increased by the circular economy system.

Increase the demand of new service:

New products with advanced technology are produced and it increases the demand of new services. So, circular economy system has positive impact to develop the environment.

Increase opportunities:

Manufacturer rethink about the process of production. So, advanced technology is used for the production of quality products. Opportunities are created by manufacturer that helps to keep the balance biodiversity and ecosystem. As well as increase employment and economic growth of the world.

Barriers of circular economy system:

Economic barrier:

  • Social and environmental externalities are not considered as price. Economic decision is made by people. The process of recycling, and reuse process is cost effective. So, price factor is the barrier of circular economic system.
  • The cost price of raw materials is high. For the production of high-quality products, high quality materials are needed. But the cost price of raw materials is the barrier of circular economic system.
  • The demand of products is another barrier of circular economic system. High quality products are produced by the circular economic system. Reduce of the demand of products causes barrier of circular economic system.
  • The essential factor is that lack of skilled employee. For the production of high-quality products, skilled employee is needed. So, lack of skilled employee is the barrier of circular economic system.
  • Lack of knowledge is the barrier of circular economic system. Employee should know about the function of advanced technology that helps to produce the quality products. so, skill and knowledge are required for the production of good quality products (Bucknall, 2020).

Institutional barrier:

  • New business has the barrier to develop the products by circular economic system. New business cannot able to follow the innovative process as the cost of circular economic system is high. Innovation method is cost effective so, manufacturer need to collect capital for the quality production.
  • Gross domestic production is not factor of externalities. Discouraging the value of gross domestic product is the barrier of circular economic system.
  • Current economy system follows the linear economy system as the cost price of the economy system is lower than the circular economy system. Cost price of circular economy system high so, price is the barrier of circular economy system (Tunn et al., 2019).

Recommendation:

Circular economy system should be preferable by all manufacture as circular economy system reduce the greenhouse emission as well as reduce carbon dioxide emission. The circular economy system has different barriers such as cost price of raw materials that increases the production rate high. Initially, all of the barriers should be identified by manufacturer and design the work plan to produce the high quality of products.

Conclusion:

From the study it is concluded that circular economy system should be followed by all manufacturer. Circular economy system keeps balance of biodiversity and ecosystem. Circular economy system helps to keep the environment free from pollution. The process of reuse, recycle, and repair helps to keep the environment free from pollution.
