DATA AND SYSTEM INTEGRATION

Introduction

Nowadays, the increasing level of the competition is the foremost issue for the firms in the competitive business environment. The reason in this is that due to different benefits such as globalization, FDI (foreign direct investment), etc.

that make easy the firms to perform better and to handle the all business operations effectively. So, in order to manage this issue and to perform well, there are different ways and the strategies that are also used by the firm and assist the firm to overcome the impact of increasing level of the competition and to target the customer base effectively (Zhou et al, 2012).

In the same concern of this, this report discusses the business of General Electric (GE) that is one of the leading firms in the market and it is based on four themes such as building, curing, moving and powering (Schwalbe, 2015).

Additionally, the one of the major product of the firm is the industrial internet that provides the additional advantage for the firm. So, this report discusses the different diagrams such as architecture overview and component relationship that helps the firm to get success in the market and to operate the business effectively.

As well as, this report also discusses the application and data storage infrastructure design along with service integration.  In the last of this report, some recommendations are also provided that will be quite better for the firm to perform well and handle the business effectively.

There are different ways and the techniques that are used by the firms at the time of integration of data because it makes easy for the firm to perform better and to have a reliable and effective result. In the concern of General Electric, the use of different software is also one of the effective strategies that can be used by the firms for better data integration.

The use of various software’s will not only help the firm for integrating or combining the data but will also helps the company to enhance and improve its operations. In this, there are different tools such as use of Excel, etc.

that makes easy for the firm to integrate large number of the data in limited time without arising any issues and the challenges (Mithras et al., 2011). As excel is easy to operate so the firm will have the advantage to save their time in integrating the data, this will in return increase the efficiency of the firm to work more faster than earlier and produce effective results.

It is because in the use of different software like Excel, different functions are available that makes easy the firm to do the effort free or right integration of data. Along with this, there are also different approaches such as schema integration or mapping based approach, procedural approach or intermediary approach, declarative approach or query-oriented approach etc.

But at the same time, in the research of Zhou et al., (2012), it is determined that although the use of online cloud options is quite effective for the firms to perform better and to keep safe the data for a ling like period but at the same time, there are also some issues like cost, management, etc that are also faced by the firms.

There are various strategies that are used by the firm in cloud infrastructure strategy but the digital transformation strategy is one of the best and effective strategies that can be used by General Electric (GE) to keep safe the data for a long time period and to perform better.

In addition, the other reason behind to use the digital transformation strategy is that by using this straggly, it is easy for the firm to keep safe the data effectively without any issues and the errors (Doan et al., 2012). As well as, the data can be used by the firm and the employees of the firm anywhere and anytime, while in the use of physical data storage, there will be issue for the firm to handle the business and to use the data effectively.

Because of this, it can be determined that the use of digital transformation strategy will be quite better for General Electric (GE) to manage the business.

Application and Service Integration

There are different integration strategies that can be used by the firm better business design and service. It is because for successful business management, the use of application and service integration strategy is quite effective for the firm. in this, the use of Batch Data Exchange strategy will be better for the firm because by using this strategy, it is easy to import and export the data (Laudon, and Laudon, J, 2016).  In this strategy people start to utilize more than a single server to manage their business operations effectively.

This shows that integration is very important for the firm. The major benefit of this strategy for the firm is that it is simple and this strategy is able to achieve integration by putting fewer efforts. As well as, there are also some other steps such as Shared Database, Remote Procedure Invocation, Messaging,  etc are the major application strategies that can also be used by General Electric (GE).

Shared database helps the firm to reduce the synchronization of data issues and along with this it also help the company to replicate the huge amounts of data issues. The remote procedure invocation application is another strategy used by the firm in which it exposes some of its functionality to another different application via some particular layer.

Messaging strategy is one which provided the firm reliable and asynchronous data transfer in the distributed business application. Application integration is basically seen as a framework that includes various different technologies along with different services that helps to integrate the systems and applications across the business firm.

It also helps the firm to link its application altogether that helps to automate its business processes along with avoiding making unnecessary changes to the already existing applications or the various data structures. It also helps the company or the firm to easily access the data from various devices.

It is because in some case, it is not possible for the firm to use the online method for collecting the data. It is also recommended to the firm that it should integrate the data more accurately as it will help to improve the performance of the various operations and systems of the firm.

The firm also needs to develop a system which can integrate the data more efficiently without hindering the organizational performance and without affecting its operations. The firm can also use the various new transformation strategies that will help the firm to gather data effectively and also to perform its functions smoothly. At the end it is recommended to the firm that it should not make any unnecessary changes in the existing applications or the data structures.
