Leadership is an ability to influence, motivate as well as help others in contributing towards organizational success. Management on the other hand, consists of controlling a set of people for accomplishing a desired goal. The personality tests present an understanding of accuracy derived and how honest and reflective the answers were.In this study, the main area of focus is on a critical appraisal of personal development needs and communication based on the results derived from personality tests. This study has also aimed at identification of appropriate tools such as Rolfe’s Reflective framework for understanding the results derived therein.
My first personality test implied my overall temperament that shapes up my personal outlook. On application of Rolfe’s reflective framework, the question of “what?” has indicated my understanding regarding the term INFJ. I, as Shaista, have revealed to have INFJ temperament meaning that I am artistic, creative as well as intuitive in nature. The next question that comes into standpoint is “so what?”, which makes me believe that with such qualities, given the freedom, I can rightly pave the way for deciding what is right or wrong by ignoring opinions set out by others (Rolfe and Haugh, 2018). The third criterion meets the “what next?” where I believe that I need to learn to be more assertive in nature and be realistic of others and my own shortcomings.
I believe that personality insight is based on a fact that strikes on areas of “extraversion”, “agreeableness”, “emotional stability”, “conscientiousness”, “openness”. On applying Rolfe’s framework in dimension of “what?”,I interpreted that my qualities are between the range of moderate to low. I believe that I am low on emotional stability and in answering the dimension of “so what?” here, I may not reveal my emotions but I am more sensitive towards the environment and that of others (Jang, 2018). The question of “what next?” indicates that overriding personality tests lies in measuring people and taking into account the differences that are noticed in other people.
I have understood that as Shaista, I have acquired a high score on resilience implying that I am pretty resilient. In answering the question of “what?”, I can state that from my high score, I am able to derive my limitations and ability to sort out challenges. I believe that in the dimension of “so what?”, I can bounce back on difficulties faced and gain a positive feeling upon being faced with adversity. In answering the question of “what next?”, I understand that an individual’s ability is driven by a quality of life and measurement of resilience level to be able to deal with change (Oshioet al. 2018). I understand that by maintaining on resilience levels, I can be self-confident and ensure in coping with change.
On my test on personality, I gained an understanding about my score on assertiveness. In answering the question of “what?” from Rolfe’s reflective framework, I can rightly interpret that I am able to appropriate my points at times, but not consistently. I have gained an understanding from the question of “so what?” that I have a tendency for flipping in between assertiveness and passive or aggressive behaviour that leads to distrust with colleagues (Sheinov, 2018). I have understood the question of “what next?” makes me believe that an assertive person is able to state their needs and point of view in terms of what is to be heard and interpreted at the expense of another person.
My overall understanding on sound decision making lies on a score of 86. I have interpreted to have acquired a score of 86 wherein I am able to analyse situations from a range of information. Upon answering the dimension of “what?”,I interpret that I am probably able to answer questions by collecting on a range of information. I observed that I use a range of tools for assessment of options to be able to justify and explain them to others. In an aspect of “so what?”, I have understood that development of a plan from communication is important in presenting a structured approach (Weller et al. 2018). In answering the question of “what next?”, making effective decisions will help to keep a track of progress in decision making.
The Barrett’s Value Test indicates the values that are taught to us for description of individual emotions. I have analysed from the test that I gained a score of 5 for commitment, creativity, humour and test. I have realized that I gained a little lesser score for leadership and making a difference with a 6 in value. I understood that I gained a higher score of 7 for forgiveness. I also observed that I need to make higher efforts for capacity of risk taking and building relationship for framing my future prospects.
I have realized from my personality test that my personality is that of a “protagonist”. I realized that I scored maximum score 75% for traits of feeling and judging. I realized that I scored lesser score for lesser score for being intuitive with 70%. On the other hand, I observed that other traits had been least for assertiveness.
Upon asking the question of “what?” in Global EI test, I predicted on gaining high score on self-awareness with 9. I also acquired a score of 8 on self-management and still lesser score for self-awareness and relationship management with a score of 7. On answering the question of “so what?” at Rolfe’s reflective framework, I have gained knowledge that I need to recognize the impact on work performance and competitiveness to understand an evaluation of strengths and limitations (Buchanan, 2018). I realized that the answer to the question of “what next?” makes me realize on a need driving greater efforts on reading and understanding the impact of self-confidence to have ability to be self-reflective in nature.
I have understood from results that my overall expectations were matching with my actual personality. However, there were times when I felt that certain traits were not going with what I am in real life. For instance, my score of emotional stability is low indicating that I am more likely to be at stress and pressure (Barranti et al. 2017). I feel that I have moderate stability and I can control my emotions as and when required. I believe that my ability to develop emotional relations with others is highlighted in fact for stretching communication on performance. I believe that positivity and increased sensitivity can ascertain higher drive towards maintaining stability.
I interpret that data gathered appears to be quite intriguing as it portrays the unique characteristics from each personality trait derived. I understand that based on my temperament I have been able to acquire a personality type of INFJ. I have observed that my personal insight indicates my pattern to range from medium to low score. I understood that having a mid-range score, I am more likely to have a low to mid-range score (Ihsan and Furnham, 2018). My personal resilience indicates my score on knowing my limitations and challenges. I have understood that this aspect requires maintenance of resilience for staying confident and ensuring coping up with change.
I can make a judgement on value as well as significance of scores gathered therein. I can interpret that acquiring a score of 86 makes me understand the objective of deciding what is best to be able to gather a right set of information. I find making decisions difficult, and tend to act with a relevant objective based on evidence. The value of personality tests lies in an ability to provide categories or traits that one might be unaware of. I understood that benefits declared from personality tests lie in a better understanding of people and identify on likes and dislikes of others.
I understand that commonalities gathered therein lies in my deriving implications of securing medium score on problem solving and acquiring support networks. I believe that I am a problem solver, which makes me gain a high score for problem solving. I am also good at solving challenges implying energy gained for continuing to practice as frequently as possible. I gained a high score on my self-confidence indicating that in times of rush, I can manage situations quickly (Florez et al. 2020). I also agree with the fact of coping up with change implying viewing a positive change to help and support people through difficult times.
I believe that ultimate surprise lies in the aspect of being viewed to be judging in nature. It was surprising for me as I believe that being judgemental goes against my personality. I feel that I am more of perceiving than being judging that implied going against my personality trait. Another factor which I believe to have acquired is my low score on emotional stability. I am more likely to have adjusted personality for controlling pressure situations. I interpret to have a medium score on stability depending on priority of results contributed therein.
On the basis of online tests gathered, I can rightly determine that I have a pleasant personality and I am able to cope well with others. Given freedom and independence, I excel well and dislike conflicts. I am unhappy when I am forced to concentrate on impersonal details and under situations of stress; I tend to take criticisms personally. My commonly chosen paths include writing, psychology, design and counselling. Based on implications of tests, it is also revealed that I am well aware of my limitations and things I am to handle (John and John, 2020). Having acquired consistency in behaviour, I tend to flip between being assertive and aggressive that might create distrust between colleagues which leads to people tending to avoid.
Personality tests are useful in a sense that they show individual strengths and enable professionals to determine talents that are best served. Reflective analysis makes analysis of meanings derived and what can be gained from past experiences. In this study, five mandatory online tests have been presented. It aims to derive an understanding of critical analysis of online trends and critically appraise on needs of personal development. This study also makes use of Rolfe’s Reflective framework for understanding overall results derived from the underlying tests laid in. It is through this theory that understanding of key facets in personality has been demonstrated.
