However, in running business operations quite adequately the role of effective leaders needs to be taken into account as they can handle their employees properly in meeting current objectives of an organization.

Description- An effective communication is an important aspect for suitably leading a team and suitably promoting objectives of business structure. During my involvement in Sainsbury stores, I watched that leaders were gentle and had some intellectual skills that attracted their employees to listen to his words.

According to Sekarwinahyu et al. (2019), however, a leader needs to be clear and transparent on their views so that they can establish their ideas and creative skills with suitable voice and communication skills. Moreover, in providing a solution to some complex problems, the person needs to make direct communications with their employees to understand their problems and then provide a suitable solution.

However, only with proper communication and understanding can a leader engage employees to listen to his words properly (Carter and Carter, 2019). In this way, employees get an idea of how they can communicate with customers and motivates them to purchase any kind of products from their stores and enhance their profits.

Feelings- The feeling that I experienced while attending stores is that effective communication must be present in becoming a strong leader as it is the only way to express ideas. I learnt that in order to become a great leader, I need to improve my communication skill to a huge extent. Based on my experience, I can suggest other employees run their operations in such a way that we all can meet common goals and enhance the business profits of the organization.

MAN127 Assignment Sample - Business Skills for Leadership 2023

According to Paulienė (2017), the communication skills show positive attitudes, confidence in the leader and it affects employees to perform even better than their previous performances. Communication skills can only help to discuss relevant problems, share joy as well as emotions among team members which lead to the formation of a strong team.

Evaluation- I evaluated that effective communication is the only way to understand problems that their employees were currently facing with any kind of item. A leader needs to make adequate communication with their employees which can help them to encourage them and promote effectiveness of their work procedures. According to Ahmed (2020), once a direct communication does not prevail among their employees with their leaders, they get demotivated and perform their work as their own.

Due to this reason, a proper monitoring of tasks among employees needs to be carried out among leaders and by using communication skills to mark their mistakes. Employees also communicate with their leaders that they do not understand their advice properly and need to listen to it once again. Apart from communication skills, leaders must be effective listeners which can help them to make necessary decisions as well as solutions for associated problems.

Analysis- After performing the job of store attendant in Sainsbury, I understood that leaders have the power to motivate all of their employees and are able to grab necessary performances from them. However, all of these approaches are conducted by using communication skills to engage their employees properly to perform each of their job roles significantly.

Nevertheless, it is not the case that leaders always provide advice regarding job roles as they also spend some time gossiping with their employees to know about their families and others (Lusiani et al. 2020). A leader must have these qualities in them so that employees listen to their leaders and maintain all of their orders properly in performing any task significantly.

Conclusion- The above discussion concluded that effective communication skill seems to be important for becoming a perfect leader to convey his thoughts and creative skills. In this way, many employees get a new enthusiasm for performing their work by adopting new approaches. As the employees are able to fulfil their target role their leaders become successful at that stage and need to provide appreciation for their great performances.

It can be argued that this appreciation helps them to perform their work with more enthusiasm and gains huge profits for their organization. After watching their performance, the organization provides adequate promotion for them in order to retain their hard-working employees for a long time (Sambell et al. 2020). Moreover, in this way, it can be more suitable for Sainsbury to promote their business by getting support from their effective leaders.

Action Plan- After watching this scenario, I understood that in becoming successful I need to work on my leadership and communication skills along with hard work. It can help me to express my thoughts towards leaders and thus it can be essential to know if my thinking skill is going at the right pace or not. Besides, to enhance my communication skill I started to communicate with other team members quite often and tried to understand my mistakes and then learnt the right approach after identifying the wrong things.

In this way, I always tried to solve the problems others were facing by providing them with some suitable suggestions for enhancing my leadership approaches. The main characteristic of a leader is to listen to all words from their employees to understand their problems. I also started to listen to their problems minutely and then provide them with adequate solutions.

2.2 Decision making and problem-solving as a leader

Description- A leader needs to know about problems that employees of Sainsbury face quite often as they have performed every stage for becoming a leader. Leaders are acquainted with problems and it is quite natural for them to provide them with a solution and provide confidence that the leader is present there to support them all the time. I got additional support and tried to complete their work as their leaders had advised them to perform their tasks by changing their attitudes and behaviours.

According to Hussein (2018), it can be argued that once these employees get success by following advice of their leader, they start to obey advice of their leaders and thus a suitable bonding seems to prevail among them. However, it is the most appropriate thing that needs to be maintained in team formation, as a strong team will be more aggressive and they can solve any kind of problem and make progress in their organization.

Feelings- I felt that employees were performing those things as leaders had taught them to perform. Basic approach among their employees gets delivered among their employees and it is time to monitor their activity and identify mistakes that seemed to be occurring while making communication with their customers. Now in the following steps, this problem gets shared with them so that it can be easy for employees to understand mistakes that they were carrying out (Rant and Černe, 2017).

A leader must be such that provides interest to know about any solution among other employees of a particular situation before providing a final decision. However, in this way, I think that equal importance can be provided among them and effective communication can take place. After listening about all the solutions, a leader provides their ultimate decision and every employee need to follow this advice properly.

Evaluation- After evaluating entire facts, I identified that employees are linked to those leaders that provide equal importance of decision among their employees. Neither leader like Hitler takes all decisions by himself nor must everyone need to follow their orders. I also agreed with the fact that a leader making decisions for the sake of employees needs to listen to their views on some objects.

According to Wang (2020), before taking final decisions, it is necessary to gather everyone’s opinion so that every member benefit from it and can perform their work properly. Apart from that, any employee having any problem with the decision of leader needs to address their problems and needs to solve these problems while discussing with their leaders.

I also want to be a leader by providing adequate importance for employees and helping them out of any kind of situation. In order to be a good leader, it would be necessary that all of them like my leadership skills and attitudes and listen to all of my words and convey their skills according to them.

Analysis- Leaders of Sainsbury were very effective and gentle and did not seem to argue with each other and made gentle communication with every member present in their outlets. Due to this behaviour from leaders, every employee maintains their advice and tries to follow their approach. According to Sadq et al. (2020), once an employee is stuck with any kind of problem, they can approach their leaders and these leaders try to listen to their problems in the meantime and solve them accordingly.

The behaviour of leaders must be like this and they should always strive for improvement despite having huge problems in retail outlets. It is only after continuous trying that one can find perfect solutions for problems. I analyzed facts quite keenly and identified that a peaceful mind is sharper than an aggressive one and thus it helps in providing necessary and correct steps that must be beneficial for the organization as well as their employees.

Conclusion- Based on the above discussion it can be concluded that a leader needs to take an appropriate decision and needs to solve problems as soon as possible. In this way, employees can finish their tasks within specified time and customers can pick up their products quickly. Nevertheless, it has been identified that all of the leaders cannot take huge pressures within themselves and sometimes makes wrong decisions that turn out to provide huge losses for the organization as well as for them.

I understood that in providing an appropriate decision I needed to think about the entire scenario and need to remain calm and composed. In this way, it can help me to make an important decision that can go right and get positive results from it.

Action Plan- In order to enhance my leadership skill, I need to provide effective solutions for problems among their employees and help them to complete their tasks properly. Apart from that, I need to remain calm and composed as it can help me to think about problems and analyze them on an in-depth basis.

As I can think about the particular problem for a long time, it can help me to provide some additional ideas that help in taking the perfect decision for the right problem. Moreover, if my solutions start to work, my confidence level would start to grow and my decisions can help in making perfect decisions afterwards (Hopkyns and Trejo, 2020).

Apart from that, I need to make some decisions among their employees about what they think about the current situation and then utilize my mind in making the final decision. According to Mihardjo et al. (2019), decision needs to be taken from in-depth analysis of entire facts not based on predictions.

2.3 Effective teamwork

Description- Modification to the financial performance of an organization is dependent on the synergistic method of working and increment in the individual strengths of the workers. In this regard, it can be evaluated that the measurement of effective teamwork strategies may help in developing operational perspectives and managerial aspects of the business.

During my employment in Sainsbury stores, I observed that in every successful project of the company, there was effective teamwork among the participants of that project. As expressed by Udekwe and Andre (2017), proper arrangement of human resource management policies is considered an effective application of teamwork. I believe that HR managers are responsible to analyse teamwork strategies and delegate work to individuals.

Furthermore, there was a clear direction, open and specific communication within the administrative officers of Sainsbury plc which made their marketing strategies conclusive and effective.

On the other hand, effective teamwork strategies help in mitigating total risks of the company as common goals of an organization can be achieved by working towards a common mindset. I learned that teamwork helped in preventing things in an understandable manner based on which companies are able to make necessary improvements in their operational strategies.

As criticized by AlArafat and Doblas (2021), development in effective teamwork facilitate in implementing sustainability and adequateness within the organization. In this regard, the employees of an organization can be able to make a discussion about their self-doubts regarding the job structures.

Feelings- Feeling associated with effective teamwork and appropriate strategies are considered a sustainable approach to make proper decisions. Business strategies need to be modified as it will help in establishing appreciated communication viability in the business. I observed that it is not important in which position a leader is working under, the main intention should be to form a group of teamwork into the organization.

Further, I learned that with the help of effective teamwork it is necessary to improvise operational sustainability and managerial perspectives of the business. As argued by Ahmad and Manzoor (2017), increment in the employee performance and modification into the sustainable policies may help in making specific development into the justified approaches of the retail techniques. I came to know that effective teamwork will facilitate eliminating rigidity in the workplace.

For example, there was a problem regarding customer service and one of our employees could not understand the language of customers. It would have been devastating if words spread out that a big company such as Sainsbury cannot handle multilingual people just because of one employee.

In that critical moment, another team member stepped in and communicated with the customer. Therefore, with collaboration and effective team play, the problem was resolved instantly. I felt quite motivated when understanding such an important application of teamwork.

Evaluation- I have concentrated on certain factors that develop proper teamwork and mobilization into the firm’s retail activities. Furthermore, I evaluated that a leader should need to divide the total works of an organization under different small parts as it will help in improving operational viability and ensure technical growth of the business. As narrated by Cappuccitti et al. (2019), the establishment of a strategic model and major changes in the financial activities facilitate in developing operational viability and effective managerial prospects of the business.

On the other hand, I came to know that the primary task of a leader is to make operational justification and development analysis of a company which may help in improving overall business perspectives and gap analysis in the business. Thus, I can argue that adequate implementation and justified approach of teamwork may help in developing sustainable practices of human resources management.

Analysis- In completion of the service as a store attendant in Sainsbury plc, I came to know that through the application of the appropriate leadership techniques the development of an organization can be elevated. During my work, I understood that being a leader is not all about directing each and every individual working in a business; rather it is about working together with a common goal. I learned that with the help of the expert guidance of a leader, the overall financial progression of the business into retail activities can be improved.

As argued by Ain et al. (2019), implementation of the strategic approaches within the organization can be undertaken as a team as it ensures greater sustainability and appropriate developments in its business perspectives. On the other hand, I found that implementation into the teamwork channels needs to be specifically acknowledged as there are adequate approaches to the justified policies in eliminating digging into the business.

Conclusion

I came to know that effective teamwork strategies can be implemented into the business through the adequate direction of the leader. A leader also is responsible for proper projection about the technological factors related thereby furnishing the business activities in the market. During my employment in Sainsbury, I learned it was very difficult to survive in the first few months in a new job environment.

As a newcomer in a field, it will be challenging to cope up with the changes in the environment and adapt to the company rules and legislations. Based on the previous experiences before Sainsbury plc, I understood that I needed to increase my working efficiency which will help in making operational viability in the business. Formation of the specific teams and adequate techniques can be strategically maintained to increase sustainability in the business.

I also believe that the application of the necessary approaches and financial techniques may be associated with improving the proper development of the purpose of the team.

Action Plan- In the upcoming future, I plan to develop professional and interpersonal skills and also improve my operational abilities to contribute to the organization. As narrated by Jaafar and Salleh (2017), management of sustainable issues and operational projection into the business may help in improving targeted marketing practices of sustainable increment.

I plan to improve my leadership ability to freely communicate with others and form effective strategies with my teams. I want to further build my financial knowledge to bring viability in business which may help in increasing the efficiency of the organization.

2.4 Coaching and mentoring others

Description- Coaching and mentoring practices refer to the set of activities that are associated with improving the efficiency level of an employee. Training and mentoring are also associated with product development and the relative growth of a business. During my employment in Sainsbury plc, I watched that the mentors of that company gave proper direction to complete a total set of work.

As narrated by Mahdi (2019), development into the financial techniques and adequate mentoring programs leads to an increased efficiency level making specific development in the business. Coaching and mentoring are defined as one of the key features to train and guide the employees towards the correct path. Hence, I believe that it is necessary for a leader to understand the ways to train an individual and guide them towards a particular direction.

Based on the above direction, it can be summarized that proper development and justified marketing tools helped a leader to make necessary developments into a business.

Feelings- During the employment period in Sainsbury plc, I have felt that proper leadership tools and adequate style should need to be maintained to make improvisation into the overall performance of a company. I believe that coaching and mentoring can solve different risks and allow the employees to be ready to face any kind of challenging situation.

As narrated by Koopman et al. (2021), analysis of necessary issues and development into the business strategies may help in increasing the quality of the total works and leadership qualities. I feel that basic concepts regarding leadership techniques and developments in business prospects may be associated with modifying the overall performance analysis of a business.

Evaluation- I evaluated that appropriate business processes and modified policies are a must to make necessary changes in the operational techniques. In this regard, it can be argued that adequate coaching strategies will help productive completion of the work as well as it will help in making necessary improvements in its operational structures. I found that a leader has to access several operational techniques and managerial perspectives as it will help in improving justified application modification in its managerial options.

In my working experience in Sainsbury, I evaluated that recently the company has started a policy in which all employees are given coaching and are directed properly to understand customer requirements. Due to this, the operational performance of the company has improved leaps and bounds in recent years. As narrated by Cornelius et al. (2020), the impact of the development options and leadership strategies may help in justifying overall profitability projection and sustainability prospects.

Analysis- In the whole work time, I came to observe that there are specific tools that can be implemented properly to make appropriate visualization of the strategic approaches. In order to become a leader, I believe it is necessary that managerial prospects and operational capability are measured properly as it will help in increasing the effectiveness of an individual being.

As argued by Munro (2017), relative implementation of the coaching practices and mentoring strategies have helped in formulating sustainability into the operational projection. Growth and sustainability among the employees can be generated through maintaining mentoring programs in operational procedures.

Conclusion- I learned that the application of the proper mentoring strategies may help in accumulating operational projection and rapid growth of the financial perspectives of business. I was working under a separate group in Sainsbury stores in which a single supervisor was monitoring the total operational activities of that store.

As argued by Kovalchuck and Vorotnykova (2017), the application of the improved business strategy such as e-mentoring and e-monitoring policies must help in improving total operational projection and adequate development in the business. I observed that proper mentoring and adequate techniques can make specific changes in employee behaviour even empowering them to improve their performance and give their all to the business.

Action Plan- In the near future, I will have to maintain all the necessary managerial policies as it will help in enhancing my analyzing ability. I think as a leader I would definitely want to increase the core performance level of the organization. Nevertheless, I will not breach the code of conduct and ethical values of leadership policies. I will take necessary actions and appreciate policies to solve a problem in the company.

I will use all of the experiences gathered in Sainsbury plc to solve the financial rigidity in its performance management. Therefore, I believe that coaching and training the employees will be an effective solution to mitigate issues and improve business performance.

3. Critical discussion about personal learning points

On analyzing the entire report, I identified that leadership skills need to develop within a person by watching the skills of a leader and their communication styles as well. However, from my previous experience, I found that leaders of Sainsbury were experienced and performed effective communication with their employees. Analyzing this approach, I started to work on my communication skill to express my views quite adequately.

Afterwards, I identified that effective decisions also need to be taken among their leaders to grab their employees out of any kind of tough situation. In order to provide an effective decision, I understand I need to be calm and composed to think about these facts to reach a final decision.

Apart from that, I believe that leaders should be responsible for building up a suitable team with appropriate coaching as well as monitoring others. I also think that effective communication skill is important while teaching as well as monitoring and thus it helps in team building quite adequately.

4. Conclusion

Based on the above discussion, it can be concluded that various operational skills and integration techniques are required to make necessary decisions in its managerial decisions. Working experience and sustainable factors may help in incrementing operational mobility into performance management. Learning materials and proper development analysis helped in making necessary improvements and justified approaches in its business techniques.

I have learned that behaviour and attitude have to be trained as it will help in accepting me as a leader in the future. It has been found that effective teamwork enhances proper accessibility regarding the monetary policies of Sainsbury plc. Based on the experience, it can be argued that common goals of Sainsbury plc including wealth maximization and profit maximization can be achieved through effective teamwork and adequate communication among the employees.
