With the upgradation of digitalisation, the Tesco website has experienced a profit leap of 21% to £48 million with an almost equal percentage sales rise. During Covid, the real organisations have gained a lot of customers as they could order products online. This was one of the reasons Tesco adopted digital transformation.

The objectives of Tesco’s digital transformations are as follows:

  • To improve service
  • To increase efficiency
  • To improve employee performance
  • To improve customer experience
  • To comply with data security

Task 2: Gaining digital business agility

  • Hyperawareness

Tesco requires establishing “digital business agility”, which really is a crucial component for developing digital business paradigms, in addition, to thriving inside the digital maelstrom as well as preventing digital concepts.

Three ongoing, attached, or rather mutually supportive functionality create digital business agility: hyperawareness, or perhaps the capacity to recognize as well as track modifications in one’s surroundings; educated decision-making, or perhaps the capacity to choose the greatest course of action in just about any specific case circumstance; as well as fast processing, or indeed the capacity to carry out one’s plans efficiently.

Nevertheless, it’s sad that most businesses lack the competencies necessary to thrive in digital turbulence (Aditya and Permadi, 2022). According to an assessment conducted via the “Global Center” for “Digital Business Transformation” between 2016 and 2018. Nevertheless, while taking into account all of the aforementioned concepts and frameworks, it becomes clear that perhaps the “digital transformation” as well as its components have already been thoroughly studied as well as a number of different strategies have already been put out by numerous prior researchers.

Different dimensions have highlighted how this large set of models addresses the central query regarding digital transformation. However, the biggest flaw in the research is the fact that the majority of the concepts as well as theories only include important business procedures.

However, in the authors’ opinion, a digital transformation plan ought to become a single, all-encompassing idea that unifies every aspect of the company and perhaps even extends beyond its boundaries.

  • Make Informed Decisions

Tesco working in some kind of a busy environment Businesses must adapt their settings. Regarding quickly closing moments of opportunity, to difficulties as well as growth prospects. A number of rapid extraction and presentation times shortened to “Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)” lead periods for reaching decisions. These companies’ requirements and technological advancements are still not compatible with a problem like the occurrence of inconsistent systems for businesses. This scenario becomes challenging.

Considering the rising frequency of acquisitions as well as due to transactions, several companies have one’s own information inside Tesco, and this is made worse by the growing use figures both inside as well as beyond the business who require immediate access to knowledge (Fan and Ouppara, 2022).

Under “go to market,” it really is crucial to concentrate just on products and services the business is providing to customers, as well as how various products are marketed as well as delivered. The proposition, as well as the network, is indeed the two aspects that make up the go-to-market strategy.

Tesco must push new business strategies but also convert their tangible products to virtual ones. Understanding that even a company’s offers must be capable of eliminating the hazard of both the global vortex as well as digital upheaval is crucial for achieving a successful transformational change.

Additionally, the responses to issues like if the offers are entirely online, how they incorporate both physical as well as electronic components if they are connected to the existing competence as well as the identity, or those who are entirely independent.

  • Execute Fast

For Tesco to flourish, digitalization is essential, as well as technology-enabled innovation has gained general acceptance as a way to increase competitiveness as well as customer happiness. Advancement increased flexibility to acclimate to dynamic environments quickly or rather effectively, the orientation of information systems (IT) but instead corporate strategy, or rather global demand or rather assistance for innovative ideas but also new possibilities are the essentials that are crucial inside the current environment of market instability for organizations.

Effective management to control the modifications affecting both individuals and processes is the key to the effectiveness of such efforts (Joy, 2022). The different scenarios of the technological transformation of Tesco are examined along with the various facets of management as well as change administration to determine the similar leadership traits that really can result during the modification of technological changes. In this essay, we’ve created a research prototype that demonstrates how Tesco can become more agile through the use of IT as well as organizational learning.

Recognizing that strategic flexibility has multiple facets, researchers concentrate on process automation as a driving force for enforcing excellence, cost efficiency, as well as performance, hence achieving corporate goals. Researchers build on previously established theoretical frameworks to create their concept of agility, as well as researchers pinpoint intellectual capital as well as dynamic capacities as its enablers.

Furthermore, researchers acknowledge key IT information management skills that really are essential for boosting strategic flexibility by increasing absorptive ability (Langer, 2022). To verify their model, researchers will conduct interviews with important decision-makers, as well as they have supplied a general idea of both the kinds of inquiries that researchers will ask.

Different types of digital technologies

Machine learning

Technical data science is now a vital part of the current product development process thanks to developments inside the domains of artificial intelligence (AI) as well as machine learning (ML), as well as the improved accessibility of reliable modeling, validation, as well as fieldwork data sets.

Internet of things

IoT technology might play a role in their strategy whether the company is currently in the procedure of going digital. Businesses in many sectors have new potential to have a more intimate relationship with clients thanks to IoT (Nyagadza, 2022). It enables them to gather new information, analyze that information to derive findings, and afterward put those findings into practice.

Artificial intelligence

Even though leveraging artificial intelligence could indeed give businesses a significant strategic advantage, investing in cutting-edge tools as well as algorithms is still necessary. To derive profit, individuals must reconfigure decision-making as well as processes, or rather individuals must put the money into human abilities to create the changes stick. That was what people at BCG regard as AI at scalability, or simply AI scale.

Virtual/augmented reality

Following its success in capturing customers’ interest through entertainment, VR, as well as AR, are among those technologies that are widely used in enterprises around the world. This is mainly because it offers practically limitless functions (Paavola and Cuthbertson, 2022). It also reasons why it is predicted that perhaps the VR business would generate an astonishing $21 billion in sales in much less than 2 years.

Task 3: Digital-ready culture

Thinking of Google, the features of digital ready culture have been identified in the year 2017. According to it, it can be said that every business is undergoing a different stage of digital transformation (Thinkwithgoogle.com, 2017). View the development of enterprises that embrace the most recent developments in digital marketing technologies, from automation and machine learning to more accurate data and measurement in APAC, made by other businesses.

Focusing on the prospect, digital ready culture can be entitled; following are the ways Tesco can create a digital-ready culture in the organisation:

  • Putting customers first

It can be said that with customers prioritisation, with providing data governance and data analytics capabilities for customer safety. In addition, with the help of building connections through personalization and providing Omni channel customer service, Tesco can help in creating a digital-ready culture (Hall et al. 2020).

  • Creating a collaborative culture

It can be said that with the initiation of investing in technology so that teams can be kept and brought together, digital-ready culture can be developed. Besides, making collaboration a priority and helping the team members with building bonds can be achieved.

  • Instilling a culture of innovation

Determination of gaols taught Tesco wants to adopt is another way of developing digital ready culture. In addition, through the process of conducting innovation workshops, the goals can be achieved. Providing constructive feedback can also be achieved at Tesco PLC (Tian et al. 2018).

Task 4: Steer collaboration

The chief collaboration officer is one of the most important members of an organisation. CCO is a member of the organisation’s Executive Team who is responsible for managing and shaping organisational and business strategy (Casey, 2019).

In addition to that, it also helps in maintaining organisational policies, and professional development initiatives. It is essential for Tesco to bring up the post of CCO as they help in breaking the silos between teams and departments and initiate incentive collaborations.

For example, a company like Lloyds Banking Group is a British financial institution that has the post of CCO. Adding to the owner, CCO is extremely responsible for creating and animating better relationships among departments.

Following are the roles and responsibilities of a CCO:

  • He is responsible for overseeing the coordination and administration of all aspects of the team
  • He takes up tasks in business planning, staffing, fundraising, and business development
  • He helps in project execution and also helps in managing the clients with program evaluation.
  • He is responsible for crafting a holistic solution for collaboration that involves strategy, HR, product development, sales solutions, marketing, and IT.
  • He is the master collaborator who will be occupying the skills of the employees within the organisation.

Following are the ways in which CCO can increase collaboration across team members and departments in Tesco PLC:

  • Being the CCO he should be keeping in mind to create a supportive work environment as it shall create a positive aura among employees.
  • Communication is the key to every problem and the CCO is responsible for communicating expectations clearly.
  • He should be taking initiative in encouraging team members to brainstorm.

Task 5: Developing leaders

According to Goleman’s leadership styles, there are six basic styles of leadership that have been established by Daniel Goleman on the basis of different aspects of emotional intelligence, which include Coercive Leadership Style, Authoritative Leadership Style, Affiliative Leadership Style, Democratic Leadership Style, Pacesetting Leadership Style and Coaching Leadership Style (Drzewiecka and Roczniewska, 2018).

In the case of Tesco PLC, the Democratic Leadership Style is the option that is required to be developed for supporting digital transformation. As opined by FAKHRI et al. (2021), democratic leadership focuses on valuing the voice of every person. It can be said that in a team when every team member is valued and hardened based on that the workplaces are marketed to be more flexible and collaborative it gives rise to everyone’s opinions being considered important along with hashing out ideas.

As opined by Trivellato et al. (2021), it can be said that with the help of improving democratic leadership in the organisation, more new ideas and innovative techniques can be intricate by employees. While everyone has their own set of ideas and innovative techniques, digital transformation can be upgraded in Tesco by developing Goleman’s democratic leadership style. A leader of the digital transformation who is successful must comprehend a wide range of details. They must feel a strong bond with and comprehend the customer.

Following are the ways in which Tesco PLC should take up approaches and techniques to develop leadership style:

  • Burke-Litwin model

In the case of the Burke-Litwin model, it focuses on bringing organisational changes that might be taking part in understanding all aspects of and viewing them from the perspective of change (French et al. 2022). For Tesco, adopting the Burke-Litwin model shall help in bringing development in the change of democratic leadership style.

  • Lewin’s change model

A straightforward and simple paradigm for humanising the change management process is Lewin’s change model (Rosenbaum et al. 2018). One is able to plan and carry out the necessary modification using these three separate stages of change (unfreeze, change, and refreeze). In the case of Tesco, undertaking Lewin’s change model shall be helping in developing a democratic leadership style in Tesco.

In addition, creating a digitally ready culture has also been affirmed.
