Overview of the report
A report’s main body consists of three parts. During the first part of the discussion, Sundar Pichai is analyzed through a case study. The skills of employees and the organization must also be analyzed in relation to how they impact each other.
This assessment has been conducted by making use of several theoretical frameworks. Covey’s Seven Habits and the CEO Genome Project are two examples of these. As part of this process, the employee must also assess their own effectiveness.
I have outlined my major opportunities and threats in my SWOT analysis in this section. A personal effectiveness model has been adopted after reviewing the strengths and weaknesses of Gibbs’ reflective cycle. The overall experience consists of six stages, which are made up of six main elements. Methods of learning are discussed at the end of the report.
These strategies include the various approaches I can use to combat my weaknesses, as previously described. Furthermore, the report includes a specific action plan that is based on the strategies identified.

Theoretical frameworks for understanding Sundar Pichai’s skills and Behavior
Covey’s 7 Habits framework
To understand CEOS more clearly, one can refer to Covey’s seven habits framework. Understanding the seven habits of highly effective people can provide the insight needed to address challenging situations in the real world, according to Stephen R. Covey (Covey, 2019).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample

Figure 1: Covey’s 7 Habits
(Source: Edwards, 2020)
As the above image shows, being proactive is essential for a person who desires influence. Clearly, the importance of controlling and influencing can be seen when it focuses on what can be controlled and influenced. Sundar Pichai needs to be a leader who successfully coordinates and influences his team members’ activities to drive positive outcomes for the organization and his employees (Odoardi et. al. 2019).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample Sundar Pichai is also featured in the case scenario due to his visionary nature.
As in the second habit, he defines success clearly and creates a plan for achieving it. Because of this, Pichai tries to cultivate positive relationships with his team and encourages them to work toward positive outcomes (Szerdahelyi and Komlosi, 2020). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleGoogle’s Sundar Pichai is known to be keen on challenges and taking risks, and his work reflects a synergistic approach (Shane and Wakabayashi, 2018).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample While developing innovative solutions, he ensures that he addresses the needs of relevant stakeholders.
Google and the workforce are affected by Pichai’s skills and behaviour
Consider the following example, which illustrates how Sundar Pichai improves employee satisfaction in his organization. “Leaders consider their employees first”, as stated by Sundar Pichai. The statement has proven to be true.
Leadership with this characteristic contributes to a committed and dedicated work environment (Alkahtani, 2016). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleThe fifth habit is also practised and demonstrated by Sundar Pichai at work through empathic behaviour. It is imperative that leaders put themselves in the shoes of others in order to gain a deeper understanding of their circumstances.
This enables team members to feel connected to the leader and find ways to work together more effectively. Another way to handle this situation is to use a CEO genome framework.
Based on the performance evaluations of 17000 executives in the C-suite, this research was conducted. In the same way as mapping a successful CEO’s DNA, mapping a company’s DNA can be said to be the same. A person’s engagement skills, decision-making skills, tendency to complete tasks reliably, and willingness to adapt to changes are among its dimensions (Al Khajeh, 2018).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample
In the case scenario, it was determined that Pichai was an excellent listener. During meetings and conferences, it is common practice to remain silent and allow each participant an opportunity to speak up. Following careful listening to everyone, Pichai steps forward and starts to speak. While taking the team’s opinions into account at the same time, the CEO is known for making quick and quick decisions.
A new study by the CEO genome project reveals that Sundar Pichai is one of the most powerful CEOs. A similar study states that he excels at his position within Google. Leaders engage the team and allow them to contribute to strategy formulation by actively involving them in the decision-making process (Fransen et. al. 2016).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample In addition, their decision-making has a reputation for being quick and efficient.
Pichai also invented the Google search toolbar. The abilities, qualifications, and skills he possessed made an important contribution to the firm’s success (Zakrzewski, 2018).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample In addition to Google Pack, Pichai worked on several other Google products.
It is obvious that he has an active interest in Google products from this perspective. According to the CEO Genome Project, executives who excel at interacting with stakeholders perform better in their roles. Having served as a positive role model in engaging numerous stakeholders, Sundar Pichai continues to demonstrate his influence.
There is a long-term orientation to this large organization, and the CEO displays critical thinking skills as well as a challenging attitude. He strives to learn from mistakes and adopt a proactive approach so that he can make better decisions in the future.
An important aspect of Sundar Pichai’s leadership style is his commitment to providing numerous opportunities for his employees to grow and develop, resulting in empowered employees and greater success for the organization (Ahmed, 2018).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample The responsibility of a CEO is to ensure that consistent and reliable results are achieved. It has been identified that Sundar Pichai exhibits these characteristics. Besides creating products for Google, he also strives to develop new business opportunities and meet stakeholders’ needs.
Thus, Pichai has significantly affected Google employees and other stakeholder groups. When he doesn’t know the answer, he takes full responsibility for his actions and mistakes. According to him, Android smartphones should be accessible to all. As a result of his leadership, the corporate stock price and revenue have increased by 90% and 80% since he became CEO (Gill, 2019).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample
Personal Skills Appraisal
Summary of Test Results
SWOT Analysis
During the self-assessment process, I performed a SWOT analysis. Using a self-assessment tool to monitor my performance, I am gaining a better understanding of myself and supporting my professional development (Teoli et. al. 2019).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample The SWOT analysis tool assisted me in the assessment process of evaluating my gaps. An organization can identify new perspectives and new ideas by conducting a SWOT analysis that evaluates the organization’s threats, opportunities, strengths, and weaknesses (Sarsby, 2016). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleThrough self-analysis, I have gained a greater understanding of how to reach my professional and personal goals and have clarified my professional and personal ambitions.

Figure 2: SWOT Analysis
(Source: Badalyan, 2021)
In addition to determining how I can achieve these goals, I will use this SWOT analysis. Using a SWOT analysis of my situation, I gained insight into my personality, strengths, opportunities, and challenges (Benzaghta et. al. 2021). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample
The factors I identify can greatly enhance my ability to obtain an advantage in the exam. My greatest strength is my ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. I am an effective communicator since I am not afraid of expressing my opinions and viewpoints.
Aspects of my skills that differ from my peers make me an ideal candidate for technical knowledge because of my interest in technical knowledge.
As well as being interested in learning about new automated processes and technologies, seeing more technical information would be of particular interest to me (Madakam et. al. 2019).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample Additionally, I am a good listener and an honest communicator. Being honest is one of my best qualities. Being honest is one of my top characteristics. This will certainly benefit my professional success and development journey.
My greatest weaknesses are the ability to think analytically, solve problems, and manage my time. Aside from that, I am fully aware that these skills are among the most important employability skills in today’s economy, and I am committed to continuing to develop them.
My peers and tutors recommended that I spend more time managing my time. I must develop my ability to manage my time to do well in class. I need to learn an attitude of punctuality, which is one of the most important traits I could learn.
I have a tendency to delay things without justification. In order to succeed in the current competitive climate, I have to develop my leadership skills. A person who wants to be recognized at work should be a well-known leader and personality.
Framework Evaluation
Using Gibbs’ reflective cycle to evaluate my performance, I sought to identify my weaknesses and strengths. This model of reflection has been recognized and widely known for its six major stages of exploring an experience (Adeani et. al. 2020).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample

Figure 3: Gibbs Reflective Cycle
(Source: Gibbs Reflective cycle, 2022)
- Description – Clearly, my strengths and weaknesses can be explained by stating that I have mainly focused on these two areas of importance to me. I have both the benefits and disadvantages of my skills, abilities, and behavioural tendencies.
By examining my skills and my areas for improvement, we were able to assess which of my weaknesses were in need of improvement to ensure my growth as an individual.
- Observations – By analyzing my own strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT), I discovered how I could increase my skill sets and make myself more efficient.
I found this to be incredibly motivating. Despite the current situation, I still feel motivated since I am devoted to acquiring new skills and knowledge.
- Assessment – This experience has provided me with a great deal of experience in my soft skills, in addition to what I learned about my commitment to gaining technical knowledge (Tanaka al. 2018).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample My knowledge of my strengths and weakness was greatly enhanced as well as my awareness of the positive aspects of the experience, which I will share with you in the remainder of this essay.
- Analysis – The smooth completion of my assessment was made possible because I conducted my assessment impartially and honestly. In addition to the suggestions made by my tutor and peers, I also took them into consideration.
I wanted to perform an accurate and reliable SWOT analysis as part of my project. After my experience with that company, several things went wrong, and the pitfalls I saw made me lose my confidence.
- Conclusion – I gained a profound understanding of myself before I entered a field as a student, and this was a very positive and impactful experience for me at the beginning of my career.
Understanding myself better will allow me to maximize my strengths and abilities. My personal experience has helped me learn more about myself, and I now understand my weaknesses.
- Action Plan – Having identified where my weak points are and how I can improve in those areas, I am then in the position to make more substantial improvements (Wain, 2017). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleMaintaining a journal of my to-do list, keeping track of deadlines, and staying on top of work can help me becomes more punctual and efficient.
Employability Impact
The building blocks of career success are the skills needed for employment. In order to attain various types of employment opportunities, various employability skills must be mastered (Chan et. al. 2018).http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample Further, if certain skills aren’t developed, those chances of finding employment may be diminished.
As I am not proficient in time management, I will have difficulties performing my duties at work, creating difficulties in balancing work and personal life and causing me additional stress. I have not managed my time effectively, and it has negatively affected my performance and productivity.
Having this skill should be included in a Curriculum Vitae, and I am not well-versed in this skill. A company needs these skills in order to achieve its goals since they are useful for prioritizing tasks and accelerating the process of executing them. My case, however, demonstrates an inability to manage time effectively or deal with punctuality effectively, which leads to missed deadlines, lack of urgency, and a lack of professionalism.
Furthermore, I have some analytical thinking and skill, and this is more important for better performance in businesss (Rahman, 2019). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleDue to this, I may be unable to take advantage of several opportunities, solve critical issues, or find innovative solutions to problems as a result.
Furthermore, I sometimes have trouble resolving even the simplest of tasks. This attitude negatively impacts my employability prospects due to the complexities of workplace problems. A poor management approach negatively impacts my job performance, so I will have to address this issue. Similarly, the lack of leadership skills will have a negative impact on my career prospects as I have aspirations to become a manager and a supervisor. My future leadership and management of the team will be dependent on the ability to develop this competency.
Discussion of Learning Methods
Strategies for Personal Development
- The key self-development area I am working on is time management (Aeon and Aguinis, 2017). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleI can implement various strategies to improve this competency. I shall start working as soon as possible, taking occasional breaks and getting down to business as soon as possible.
Prioritizing and scheduling tasks on the basis of their due dates are among other steps to be taken. Learning productivity patterns and organizing my workspace are among other aspects of the skill development process.
- My best strategy for maximizing my problem-solving skills is to focus on the solution, not the problems. For as many solutions as possible to simplify and make the process as simple and straightforward as possible, there are many options.
The skills I need to strengthen my problem-solving capabilities can be achieved by utilizing a range of different techniques (Finucane al. 2020). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleBy determining the root cause of the problem and turning it into an opportunity, it is possible to overcome long-term problems and short-term crises.
My memory can also be trained by playing games and solving logic puzzles in the context of games and logic puzzles in order to build this competency.
- The process of analytical thinking entails gaining as much information and breaking it down into smaller, easier to understand pieces in order to grasp the meaning behind it as objectively as possible (Rahman, 2019). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment Sample
The parts can then be examined further in order to examine the relationships between the variables. Moreover, I have developed some theories that can be used to develop possible options according to the problems identified. These theories include analytical thinking, which allows for identifying and defining a problem. Analyzing the information provided allows for the development of workable solutions.
- Developing my leadership skills and improving our company relies heavily on my commitment to discipline (Pidgeon, 2017). http://MSc Management Personal Effectiveness Assignment SampleFurthermore, I will receive the opportunity to work on various projects that will enable me to gain more experience and improve my situational awareness. Because of this, I must become capable of motivating others, resolving conflicts, listening effectively, and resolving conflicts.
