The aim of this paper is to develop a personal SMART goal in order to achieve the core skill of mine. The skills which want to possess are the communication public speaking skill. This is important skill in current scenario as people with right communication skill can have influences any individual and achieves its desired result (Foray and Goenaga, 2013). However, communication skill also proves to be useful for conveying the message and information to the audiences in a clear manner. It results in attracting the wide range of people towards the people. Thus, the development of communication public speaking becomes an important one to achieve high growth in the future endeavour. In regards to develop such skills, there are certain areas covered such as creation of SMART goals and tracking of goal. Other than that, the study also contributes towards presenting the actual connection between set personal goal and my future desired result (Dameri, 2013). At the end of this study, the action plan is developed in order to achieve the goal till the completion of course work. The skills are attained through use of SMART goal.
Create of SMART Goal
In the duration of course work, I realised that there is need to develop the core skill in order to achieve the desired future goal which is to work with reputed firm. Along this, I want to do public speaking in colleges and schools so that students can easily gain the information which I wish to convey. In respect to this, there is needed to make plan for accomplishing the personal goal. The plan includes the SMART goal.
This goal may help me to achieve personal one which is communication public speaking skill. This skill I will be learning and tracking in my course work. However, this skill could help me to deal with the issues like poor communication and presentation. It allows me to achieve the personal goal which helps to gain benefit in the form of influence the larger audiences with my right communication skills and such area help me to grow more.
S– To gain improvement in the communication skill so that I can easily convey information to other people and perform the work activity in a proper manner (Bowman et al., 2015).
M– To measure my communication skill so that accordingly I correct myself and attain the personal goal.
A– To achieve the stated goal of mine for performing my task in a more effective manner. it involved rightly flow of information among the team members which result timely completion of work with efficiency.
R- To track the skills progress through take feedback or prepare relevant report. This could help me to identify the areas where I need to bring improvements.
T- To achieve the core skill, I will take time of 3 months for improving my communication skills.
Goal: by the end of course, I will become more specialised in regards to handle the people and perform the task properly. For this, sub-goal will help me to gain such goal (Tofade et al., 2012).
Sub-Goal 1: I will gain knowledge about different tactics for improving the communication skills.
- Action step 1: I will attend the workshop of different public speakers in order to understand the body gesture and posture which they use to present or communicate the information to larger audiences.
- Action step 2: I will also follow the Bear Grylls who is one of the best speaker and presenter (Kissane et al., 2012). By watching the videos and audios will assist me to improve my communication style.
Sub Goal 2: I will develop include practical experiences for overcoming the problem related to language barriers and low confidences.
- Action step 1: In the team work task, I will take initiative and allocate the task as per the skills of individual and then communicate them about the requirement of task. This practice could help me to achieve an improvement in communication skills (Nørgaard et al., 2012).
- Action step 2: I will also take part on the market research program and try to interact with number of people in order to contact and solve their queries.
Tracking of Progress
This section includes the monitoring my progress in regards to that how much I able to bring improvement in the skill and what areas are required to address.

This tracking result shows that I will able to improve my communication process as I become good at influencing the people with my viewpoint. Other than that, I also have enough knowledge about different areas that also support me to properly make conversation. But still there are some areas where I should focus are the jargon and culture diversity etc. This area could help me to gain specialisation in the skill of communication public speaking (Erozkan, 2013). However, this tracking process assist me to make better understanding about my strength and weakness which will definitely helpful for achieving the SMART goal in a successful manner.
Reflect connection between goal and desired future
This part will reflect the connection between my personal goal and desired future. However, communication public speaking is my core skill which I want to achieve in order to pursue my desired dream i.e. to get the job in reputed firm and become the best public speaker. In regards to this, I select the role model which inspires me to achieve personal goal for gain desired future. It is a Bear Gryll’s and he is a British former SAS serviceman, survival instructor and has an adventurer, writer and television presenter. He possesses brilliant communication and presentation skills and this allows him to attract larger audiences. He mostly used the speaking topics like adventure and the environment, survival skills & the dangers and delights of the great outdoors, overcoming adversity in sport and testing human limits etc. He also takes care various area during public speaking is the use of new 3D interactive arena show which create memorable experiences of visitors.
Other than that, Bear Gryll’s also used optimistic approach in the public speaking. This helps him to easily present the facts in a proper manner (Petrovici and Dobrescu, 2014). This approach allows him to take the things positively which influences the people presentation skills in a more appropriate manner. Thus, this approach is considered as an important one especially for the people who want to improve the communication skill. Besides that, there are several areas which makes him the true role model is that he used its communication skill in multiple business and at the same time, he also utilised its skills in the public speaking. So such area allows him to gain specialisation in the communication skill. Moreover, Bear Gryll is also focused on various areas such as pay attention to body language and postured while public speaking.
The approach which Bear Gryll used in the communication and presentation are proved to be useful for me for achieving the personal goal and future desired dream. This is because Bear Gryll followed various areas such as right body posture and gesture so this will help me when I communicate at professional level. This allows me to convey the information in a more appropriate manner. However, role model optimistic approach is also contributed efficiency for achieving the core goal. This helps me in the form to politely interact with people and listens their viewpoint then presents our facts. This practice can result to develop a healthy conservation and the optimistic approach also support towards solving the problem related to low confidences and inter-cultural language. This is because optimistic approach helps to maintain the right flow of words and language which result in constructive conversation (Keyton et al., 2013). Thus, it can be stated that Bear Gryll approach will definitely contribute efficiency for me to achieve the personal goal along with future desired result.
In support to this study, I used this approach in certain areas where I faced issues and it is when I have to interact with different culture people. The limitation of language is the major barrier where I sometime fail to interact with different culture people. In regards to this, I believe that optimistic approach will be helpful for me in moving towards the achievement of goal. Other than that, this approach proved to be useful for me in particular situation like when I was asked to organise an event for the university then for this, I put into situation where I need to manage various things from catering to performances. Similarly, there are different cultural people take parts in this event. So poor command over the language give rise barrier for conversing well to diverse cultural people (Dameri, 2013). In regards to such situation, I will use the non-verbal communication technique where I used the gesture and posture to convey the information. This way I manage the situation.
Post-situation, I feel really confident as I able to manage the things without any problem and easily. This technique also helps me to improve my non-verbal communication skill which is quite important when situation occur where people do not have common language. Overall, I use right level of energy and confidence to manage such situation. Thus, these areas help me to successfully deal with such situation in a proper manner.

From the above discussion, it is concluded that SMART goal is proved to be useful for achieving desired future result which is to become a great public speaker and work with any reputed firm. In regards to this, I undertakes various activities such as attend the workshops of famous public speaker like Bear Grylls who helped me to deal with various critical issues. At the same time, the proper guidance’s of senior also supported me to improve the communication skill so that I could able to grab future opportunities.
