The second difference can be observed in terms of job or employment. There are several policies of United Kingdom that need to be reformed so that outsourcing of employees from developing countries can be reduced by a significant percentage and companies must be encouraged to hire local employees at a fixed wage (Hannula, 2018). Moreover, these grass-roots movements aim at making companies an area where hiring of foreign employees at lower wages indirectly has a negative impact on economic stability of the country. Therefore, companies must understand the side-effects of globalisation and social issues that it is creating.

National and International Policies to mitigate the issues

As per employment law of United Kingdom, it is distinguished among self-employed employees, full time employees and workers. As a result, there is a distinction among their pay rate as well. However, in India, employment policy focuses on self-employment and encourages employees to get self-employed to enhance economic stability of the country. As per UK’s employment law, a minimum wage of £8.72 has to be given to employees per hour and every week, an employee must work for 48 hours. In India, employment law states that more than 48 hours per week is not allowed, which is similar to UK, however, wage per hour is far less than in UK (Rolf et al. 2022). In India, $2.40 is the minimum wage that must be provided to employees per day. As a result of such a difference, UK aims at outsourcing employees at lower wages and they abide by government policies of national as well as international policies as well. However, strategies have to be deployed to mitigate this procedure of outsourcing in bulk. As per Employment Rights Act 1996, employees are not discriminate and their rights are protected in workplace, however in current scenario of globalisation, employee’s right to get appraisals and increments are not followed by retail-based organisation in UK (Legislation.gov.uk, 2022).

UK government must make policies so that outsourcing can be limited. Moreover, a policy can be made here that a fixed percentage of outsourcing can be done by a firm; however the majority of employees need to be local. Such policies can limit outsourcing, but it will also increase employment rate of UK. Moreover, companies must be encouraged to increase their wage so that local employees can live a peaceful life where there is no gap between their earnings and cost of living (Karakioulafi et al. 2021). Globalisation has led to several problems for local people of UK and its young generation that needs a stable job. However, UK based retail companies are focusing on outsourcing hence term profitability and it is aching a negative effect on lifestyle of its cities and is also reducing economic growth of the country. As a result, the government needs to reform its policies so that stability can be provided to local citizens through their job and payment of wages.

Conclusion

Overall, it can be concluded that increased globalisation leads to higher unemployment rates in developed countries such as United Kingdom. Companies of United Kingdom are hiring foreign employees from developing countries such as India and Bangladesh at a much lower wage rate, compared to local employees of United Kingdom. As a result, local cities of UK are not employed and employees are also terminated for invalid reasons. Similar problems are faced when their wages are reduced or they are not given in hike which is creating issues in bridging gap between earning of an individual and cost of his living in United Kingdom. As a consequence, various NGOs and charitable funds have been holding campaigns and rallies to make people aware of the side effects of global and modification of policies that can ensure a change in unemployment status in many cities of UK. Moreover, policies must be made so that no local employees can be terminated without proper justification and increase the given so that employers stay motivated. Such policies can help United Kingdom to reduce their unemployment state and it can also assist the country to gain profits from globalisations by mitigating its side effects.
