The SMART objective will definitely create a positive impact on the growth and success of hotel in Manchester and one the main benefits of the SMART objectives is that it always focuses on reducing the risk factors of the hotel. Analysing the history of the hotel it has found that Yang Sing Hotel was established in 1977 and the hotel mainly follows a traditional Cantonese cuisine and always believes in providing high quality service to customers (Yang-sing.com. 2022). Additionally, if the project managers if the hotel will be able to follow the SMART objective then the hotel will be able to increase the overall review by targeting more guests to the hotel.

Stakeholder Management

It is one of the main responsibilities of the project managers of the hotel to develop an effective stakeholder management planning which will help the project managers to meet the satisfaction level of stakeholders and engage the stakeholders in an effective way. An effective Stakeholder management always plays a crucial role in managing and handling the external relations of a project as there is a huge requirement of effective communication channel in developing an effective stakeholder management (Remme & Waal, 2020).

Identify

Identifying the key stakeholders is the key and first step of stakeholder management and in that case, the project managers of this hotel need to identify the key stakeholders who create a massive impact in fulfilling the project in a successful manner. Additionally, investors, employees, and customers may be considered as important stakeholders for this project and the project managers need to improve the engagement of stakeholders for optimum success in the project. It has been observed that NatWest Commercial Banking is the private investors of the hotel even though it will be extremely impactful if the project manners will identify more investors who will invest a huge amount of money in order to ensure the profitability and sustainability of the company (Refers to Appendix 1). Many modern companies also implement an effective stakeholder’s engagement plan with the help of several theories and stakeholders models who will prioritise the actions and behaviour of stakeholders by analysing the conflicts of interest in a project (Bahadorestani, Naderpajouh & Sadiq, 2020).

Analysis

Analysing the stakeholders is one of the main duties of the project manager while if the project managers will not be able to understand the most influential stakeholders then the project planning may be disrupted. In this case study, customers and investors are two important stakeholders for the hotel which have a great impact in influencing the project success. On the other hand, a project mapping needs to be done by the project manager and needs to analyse the least essential and most essential stakeholders for the hotel. Vendor and employees do not have a huge influence on this project which indicates the project managers’ needs to meet the satisfaction and expectation levels of investor and customers for the success in the project.

The project managers need to maintain effective communication with the stakeholders for the better engagement of stakeholders. In addition to that, the designing of online chat bots may help the customers to get proper information about the hotels. Additionally, the financial information required providing to the investors or else the investors may not show proper interest in the project and that may ruin the project.  Modern project managers have used multiple innovative technologies to move the involvement of stakeholders in a project such as scenario analysis and Multicriteria decision analysis which also reduces the risk of the project (Bostick, Holzer & Sarkani, 2017).

In the execution stage most of the important task needs to be domes such as electrical, plumbing and many more which will provide 24 hours electricity to the hotels. An exterior is required to be designed which will beautify the exterior of the Hotel and provide supreme experience to customers. Resource control planning is one of the main elements of this planning and it may include any operations such as risks, cost and resource management. A reputed journal also states that project management is required to estimate the total cost of the project and choose a proper project plan which will improve the status of the project (Soltan & Ashrafi, 2020).

Poor charging of per overnight staying cost of guests and excessive  economic friction Increasing the per-night cost of staying by bringing in more innovation and improving the additional beneficial facilities of the hotel

Table 5: Table for Risk Management Assessment

(Source: Self-created)

The scope of the risk management of the assessment of the project has been usually in the framework of the poor understanding of the employees and the lack of a collaborative environment (Keersm & Fenema, 2018). Moreover, the issue of the risk management have been one of the most important aspect of the remodelling of the Yang Sing Hotel, where it has been reported that the hotel has several areas of remodelling which incurs the modification of the structures of the different repairing works, and the roof that have be leaking for a longer duration of time that involve critical worker risk (Refer to Appendix 2). The Yang Sing Hotel may charge the price based on the rival organisations that may let the hotel have a better base of competitive pricing strategy, thus focussing on the resolving of the risk of financial liquidation in the near future.

People Management

Areas of conflict arising within the project

Lacking of the basic objectives to be resolved with poor transparency

The transparency in having the objective of launching the Yang Sing Hotel with better efficiency may be met with proper planning, where all such different project plans require strict clarity. The conflict may arise due to the real issue of the people management where the employee in the lacking of a better planning structure may be directed to be confused and thus have greater inefficiency. Moreover, the lack of efficiency in a project management of Yang Sing Hotel usually may arise due to the setting of unrealistic or not clarified objectives, where the management of the people involved in the project may become entirely different. The identification and analysis of the objects related to the project development may be clearly in line with the management of the project development plan, where such lack of clarity may cause brief instability and thus pausing the development of the project (Cristóbal et al., 2018). The lack of the definitive strategy that needs to be followed to remodel the Yang Sing Hotel may cause great hindrance to a great extent mostly due to the non-existence of the blueprint about the better management of the project.

A cornered and low budget for project management

The non understanding of the proper allocation of resources and operating in the umbrella of closed and edge budget may bring in the issues of having the project sink and  meet a more disastrous outcome. The problem of not being able to estimate the required budget first to model the Yang Sing Hotel has been a great issue from the past where there have been severe economic crises in the past (Refer to Appendix 3). The issue that is with the budgeting of the Yang Sing Hotel is the not being able to have any risk where the different contingencies may seriously affect the project management.

Insufficient training of the workers involved

The workers employed for the remodelling of the Yang Sing Hotel have been in the issue of not being able to receive proper training, which may be associated with the deterioration and the reduction in the quality of work. The tasks that are required for the modelling and taking care of the parts of the Yang Sing Hotel may require efficient personnel in the department of training. The labour market often faces the critical issue of not being aligned with the critical issues of the worker employment, where lack of being flexible in terms of washes point to poor strategic decisions (Breinek, 2018).

Lower level of communication among the workers

There have been greater problems associated with the poor level of communication of the different workers when the workers may feel dissatisfied and lack a certain degree of transparency. The lower communication and the poor style of communicating with the employees of Yang Sing Hotel serves as one of the greatest challenges in the times of digitalisation, where communication have been a key strategy for better collaboration of workers. The factor of the human resource is one of the essential factors responsible for the project management and development, where the different sources of human resources have been emphasising the need for worker employability to a higher extent (Fossum et al., 2018).

Figure 3: Human resources for project management

(Source: Fossum et al., 2018)

Strategies taken to resolve the conflicts

The people management at a Yang Sing Hotel lies usually in the setting of the daily job role in a transparent manner, where the open way of communicating the objectives and explaining the required necessities have become one of the most important features for the success. The scale of measuring the success of the completion of a project lies in the degree of attaining the goals, the nature of clarity of the project and the being more specific with the objectives (Zwikael, Chih, & Meredith, 2018).

The budget corner needs to be increased with better suitable methods applied for the improvement in the stakeholder’s relation, and training the workers in a different program may cause the productivity of remodelling the Yang Sing Hotel to increase.

Reasons for having a sponsor in the management of the project

There has been a starting need for the sponsor to work as the senior management lead in the remodelling of Yang Sing Hotel for better funding, which has been a major problem while the hotel has been entertaining guests (Refer to Appendix 4). The significance of having a sponsor in the team of the project management is usually inclined towards being more responsible for the project within a given set of objectives (Breese, Couch, & Turner, 2020).

Management style chosen for the appropriate management of the project

The style of management that needs to be chosen in the Yang Sing Hotel is the Visionary Style of management where such management has the decisions best taken by the managers to have a better vision be reached and attained within a short period of time. The Yang Sing Hotel has been terminated due to liquidity and thus shut out for longer terms, where such issues have arrived due to the problem of a loose management decision.

Conclusion

It may be concluded in respect of the remodelling activity and the efficiency of recruiting a project manager to consider the management of the project of the Yang Sing Hotel that the ways of management and the risks associated with the managing people have been discussed with better reference in the assessment.
