Assessment 3- Report 1

Replacement of all four brake discs and brake pads into the electrical vehicle:-

Cost of Repair Time:- Cost of repair time is that cost which is incurred with the involvement of one or more technicians in the working of a system. Repair time includes various activities like preparation time, fault location time, fault correction time and final checkout time. Thus, the cost of repair time could be 8 to 10 hours at 50$ to 80$ (Mackie et al., 2010).

Cost of repair time: $60*$4 = $240

Labour cost:-The labour cost is that costs which is sum of all the wages that is paid to employee, workers, and technicians etc in regards to develop or modify any product or service. Likewise, electrical contractors are highly trained professionals that earn a good hourly rate for their services. An expected labour cost can be in between $500 to $ 800 for the modification project. The labour cost fluctuates as per the existing conditions of the electrical systems (Sheu, et al., 2012). In that case, an electrician requires to performing the extra work for making proper modification in the equipments. Then the cost of labour also gets increase.

Labour cost: $500*$4= $2000

Sub-contractor cost:- The sub-contractor are those party that are called for piece of work or delivery of specified goods or services. Therefore, the cost which is incurred of the sub-contractor to make some more special work related to modification (Rajabi & Dabiri, 2012). Sub-contractor cost could be $50

Cost of sub-contractor: $50*$4=$200

Cost of parts and material:- Costs of parts and material are those cost which can be easily identified with the unit of production. For instances, the costs of materials in the modification of electrical system includes the cost of circuit and cables and light bulbs that is used to develop the most effecting and reliable product. Therefore the cost of material for the system can be $300 to $500 (Abanda, et al., 2011). Total material cost is largely depending upon the type of panel purchased and any additional feature that include in the property will incurred the cost. In context to electrical system, the company need to install a new power supply and meter too adequately to modify new electrical needs. The material would be fittings, cables, circuit’s connectors and fasteners etc.

Cost of parts and material: $400*$4= $1600

Total job cost: total job cost including overheads and mark-up percentage in accordance’s with enterprise procedure

Total job cost: cost of repair time+ cost of direct labour+ cost of subcontractor’s work+ cost of parts & materials

= $240+$2000+$200+$1600= $4040

Total services cost:- The expenses that is occur with the performance of some valuable task by other person in that case, the cost incurred are referred as services cost. Therefore the services cost in the case of electrical system are mention below:-

Calculation of services cost:- Total job cost * 15% of services cost

Services cost = 15%

$4040*15% = $606

The services cost can be $606.

Potential quotation variations:-  The quotation includes the group of work of the particular area in which price of each work is also given. The price is tailored made. It is also refereed as an amount at which the quoted investments are shown in accounts is normally their cost at the time of their acquisition. At the same time, variation consider as an alteration to the scope of works in a construction contract in the form of an addition, substitution or omission from the original scope of works (Huang 2011). Therefore, the company should take the potential quotation that is accordance’s to their price and the quotation should also include quality equipments which assist in the modification in the electrical vehicle. Thus, it is important to select the best suited potential quotation that does not have variations in the price.

Assessment 4-Project

Case study:-

Nature of issue:-

This scenario presents the issues related to the failure in the delivered services by the workshop. From the case study, it is learned that Beverley who has done her car serving from the workshop yesterday was meet with an accident on the next day. Due to making the bad services of the vehicle, the Beverley vehicle got various types of damage and Beverley also saved with miner in this accident (Tie & Tan, 2013). Therefore, the issues that this study is reflecting is the lack of quality issue in which workshop owners fail to serve their best.

Judgements to resolve the issue:-

In order to resolve the issue related to the bad quality services of workshop related case. There is need making several judgements for reaching towards the root cause of the problem. Firstly, it is require understanding that it is a technical error or human error. It means that whether it is technical error form the workshop side or it is a mistake of the Beverley that she drives really fast and harshly (Sengupta, et al., 2011). Thus, the judgements of the court should include the analysis of the root cause so that the relevant and correct decision can be achieved.

Procedure to record the issue and problems:-

There are four-five steps that include in the procedure to record the issues/ problems:-

  • There is need to record the issue type such as is it quality issue, negligence issue or health& safety issue etc (Tawfik, et al., 2013).
  • Record the identifier which means that record who discovered the issue.
  • Then need to indicate the timing that the issue was identified.
  • There is need to record the description of the issues in order reach towards the root cause of problem.
  • Then determine that who is responsible for resolving the issues.
  • Record the deadline date of resolving the issue.
  • Status: keep recording the status of issues.

Thus, by adhering such procedures will help the individual to reach towards the solution in a quickly manner.

Action to be taken for resolving the issues

The actions that need to be taken by the workshop owner for arriving any solution in case he is fail to resolve the issues. For that, the workshop needs to converse with the Beverley & her husband. They try to negotiate them and reach towards some decision. Moreover, workshop owner should need to show their quality standards and procedure of maintaining their quality so that, Beverley could able to understand the issue (Hedrich et al., 2016). Both of them should work together towards the reaching on some solution. Thus, communication is the best studied solution for both the parties to arrive at the relevant decision.

Resolution procedure for achieving the correct course of actions

There are five steps that need to consider while resolving the issue and achieve the corrective course of actions that are mention below:-

Step: 1 Identify the sources of conflict

Step: 2 Reach towards the root cause of problem

Step: 3 find the ways to resolve the problems

Step: 4 identify the best suited solution to the problem

Step: 5 Agreements between the parties.

Likewise by using such procedure, the workshop owners could easily attain relevant solution. This procedure provides the proper actions because it includes systematic process that appropriately solves all the problems without including any type of biasness. Thus, because of this reason, this resolution provide correct course of actions (Leary et al., 2015).

Feedback log system for providing solution to the problem

It is determined that all the issues are bought to the feedback logs. It is because workshop owners believed that feedback log is the best medium to provide the solution to customers as this system allows the customer to get the most relevant solution of their query/ complaints. The feedback log before reaching any answers before that the system analysis the root cause of the problem only then after they suggest any solution to customers (Wahl et al., 2014). At the same time, the feedback log is also reducing the chances of spreading negative image of company among the customer. Moreover, the feedback log also responds quickly towards the problem with accuracy.

Assignment 4-Report 2

Cost of modification time

Modification in the electrical vehicle consider as an improvements made into the existing product or in equipments in order to make the product more distinctive and more efficient enough. Thus, the cost which is incurred to make the product unique is considered as a modification cost. So, the cost of modification can be approx. $100 (Wahl, et al., 2014).

Cost of modification time: $100

Cost of direct labour

It is that cost that is incurred when the sum of wages or income is paid to the employees for his contribution in the modification of any work. Thus, at that time, the time that employee spend on modifying the engine of any vehicle. Such practices are considered as a cost. The cost of direct labour in terms to fit turbocharger in the car is approx.

Cost of direct labour: $700

Cost of contractor’s work

The contractor in the workshop are consider as a that person who has called to perform some special work in the repairmen of vehicle. The work could be related to the installing the different cables or circuits into the vehicle as such practices require a specialization or expertise people to do such work (Tawfik et al., 2013). Thus, in that case the cost that is occurred of the contractor is considered as a cost of sub-contractor.

Contractor cost in the vehicle repairmen are approx. $100

Cost of parts and materials

Cost of materials includes that cost which is incurred with the holding of parts to make a modification in the vehicle. It is also identified that the total cost is also depend upon the type of material company is holding. In this case, workshop raw materials include the wires, circuits, engines and turbochargers to bring the modification in an efficient manner. Therefore, the cost which is arising for purchasing such products is considered as cost of parts and materials.

Cost of materials: $500

Total job cost, including overheads and mark-up percentages in accordance’s with enterprise procedures

Total cost includes various types of cost that is incurred at the time of making any type of modification in the engine or in vehicle etc. the cost that includes are cost of modification time, cost of direct labour, cost of contractor work etc (Sengupta et al., 2011).

Total job cost= $100+$700+$100+$500= $1400

Total services cost:-

It is the cost that is incurred with the performances of special work by the individual so at that period, the time and money which is contributed by the people to modify particular system. These consider as a services cost. Basically costs that is associated with the services performances of the people are called as services cost (Tie & Tan, 2013).

Total services cost= total job cost * 20%

$1400*20%= $280

Potential quotation variations:-

The variations in the quotation are recognised in the form of price. Basically, the quotation is mainly used by the company to invite the investors to make investment in their project within the mention price. It is also determined that the quote is the last price on which any particular commodity or stock is traded or it is a price that is on agreed by both the parties that is buyers and sellers. There are two types that exist in the quotation is the bid or ask quotes (Tawfik et al., 2013). The bid or ask quotes are the most current prices and quantities at which the shares can be bought or sold. Therefore, for bringing any modification in the electrical or in vehicle, then there is needed to develop the quotation in order to invite the investors for making successfully modification by the company. At the same time, this practice also helps the company to deliver best to the customers and make them loyal towards their brand. So the potential quotations are those which attract large range of investors for making the modifications effectively.
