Title

Blood cancer one of the major public health issues in the United Kingdom especially in children and men.

Background

Blood cancer is considered as one of the major public health issues in the United Kingdom in recent times especially in children and men. Around 3,75,000 new cases of cancer are detected every year in the UK and in which about 250,000 people and identified with blood cancer. At some point, one in every 16 men and one in every 22 women have the ability to develop this cancel. In the UK it is the most common type of childhood cancer (Smart, 2021).

More than 500 children of the age of 15 or diagnosed with blood cancer. However, there are different kinds of blood cancer which may include leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and amyloidosis.

Also, under all the list of blood cancer set a present in UK leukemia is considered as the 12th most common cancer in the UK, this is also accounting for 3% of new cancer cases has 4000 new cases are notified every year (Bhattacharyya et. al. 2017). In addition to that in the year 2016 around 12000 cases of lymphoma, and around 8200 cases of leukemia what detected. Hence, blood cancer is considered one of the major diseases in the UK.

Nevertheless, studies have shown that people around 65 to 74 years of age I frequently diagnosed with leukemia. It is more common in men than in women in some parts of the world. Although leukemia is rare in children, teens and children have the ability to develop any type of cancer, 30% will develop the form of leukemia. However, some main causes of blood cancer are smoking, exposure to chemicals, and radiation exposure.

To prevent blood cancer when can have a healthy diet, maintain a healthy weight and physical activity, get vaccinated, avoid usage of tobacco, and get regular medical care.

The upcoming action plan is associated with the following facilities of the Public Health list of competencies.

Key characteristic 1

Better chemo sessions. This will help the patients increase the pace of improvement. As research has shown that patients with cancer get better in the process of their chemotherapy. This will help in measuring the data of cases that are cured.

Key characteristic 2

The public health responsibility should deal with setting up the action of developing medicines in industries for providing the voluntary sector, and NGOs. As at a local level, this will help in building up a healthier economy along with the vision on the public health budget.

Some Existing Policies and Programmes

The government of the UK has been working on developing programs that can improve the ability to reduce cancer patients in their country. For this purpose, they have a partnership with GRAIL (Liu et. al.  2020). This is a healthcare company that has a mission of detecting cancer patients earlier when they can be cured.

Their focus is saving lives and improving health by using new technology for early cancer detection. Nevertheless, the company uses the power of next-generation sequencing, population-scale clinical study, and state-of-the-art computer science and data science which will help them in overcoming their greatest challenge. The partnership program involves approximately 1,65,000 people in the UK that are divided into two groups.

The first group will introduce 1,40,000 people over the age of 50 without any symptoms of cancer and the second group will include 25,000 people aged 40 and above with the signs of cancer. In addition to that, cancer is projected to be the world’s leading cause of death with more than a thousand people in the UK receiving cancer every day.

While the GRAIL program is being developed, the UK government is adopting new models of care requirements for providing better services to cancer patients (Stoyanov et. al. 2018). At present secondary care is provided maintaining ownership of cancer patients during the following period of five years, and their further work to understand how the effects of cancer are changing the human body.

Proposed New Initiatives and Strategies

The few measures that should be taken in reducing the rate of spreading blood cancer in people are mentioned below:

1. Tobacco is one of the leading aspects through which cancer spread in people. That should be one of the aims of the UK government to reduce the usage of tobacco by the people.
2. Development of a healthy diet for the people. This may include the supply of fresh fruits and vegetables in the market so that there is no usage of artificial fruits and vegetables which are infected with sides.
3. Providing better quality of chemotherapy to the patient who has been diagnosed with cancer.
4. Creating all industries for the development of medicines that are involved in improving the state of conservation.
5. Developing more programs like GRAIL, through which more services can be provided to the cancer patients and their recovery can be done at a faster pace.
6. Eventually, partnering up with different countries and their programs so that the government can narrow the survival gap of the patients in the country.

Recommendations

Along with the development of many programs for improving the quality of services provided to the conservation the government of the UK should also increase the rate of production of medicines that are used for the betterment of the patient. Also, the government should use the latest technology for the process of changing the blood of the patient (Funston et. al.  2018).

Nevertheless, during the period of the pandemic the patients who have been diagnosed with both covid and blood cancer should be provided separate services and should also be isolated differently from all the other patients. Lastly, the government should also use the antibody development treatment for the patients who have been detected at the first stage of cancer.

Conclusion

Blood cancer is one of the major diseases in people in today’s world. In analysing the statement, the above report includes the factors of public health competence and blood cancer. Moreover, the report also included the policies and programs that are introduced by the UK government for preventing blood cancer.

In addition to that, some strategies of the UK government are also highlighted in the above report. Lastly, some recommendations for improving the quality of services that are provided to the cancer patient are also mentioned above.
