It can also deliver the goods from one country to another but it should be a neighbor The road transport has an extensive network for the supply chain that provides direct delivery.   2. Rail transport- Rail is also a moderate speed transport where a firm uses it for its good reliability and low cost per kilometer. In addition, an organization can also adopt rail transport for the large consignment as well as it has a very high loading capacity. In the current scenario, several business organizations are using the air carriers for global logistics services to develop the market of the business (Tavasszy et al., 2012). It provides very good reliability where limited chances of loss because it can track easily. But a firm only uses the air transport where there is no alternative and the delivery is necessary for limited time availability.
  4. Sea transport- Sea transport is suitable for large preplanned shipments because it takes time in delivery. But the cost of transportation is much low in a comparison of air, rail and road transport (Ishfaq and Sox, 2012). In addition to this, this transportation mode was used in the traditional business because these were not the availability of air transport. In the current businesses, the sea transport is also using for reducing the overall cost of transportation as well as the delivery large quantity of shipment. It has a high risk of theft in concern of valuable goods (Gonzales et al., 2013). In addition, this transport is not familiar with the immediate need for the delivery.
    As per the above evaluation, it can be said that a firm can use various forms of transportation in concern to supply chain. In this, the rail transportation is suitable for a firm which wants to deliver the shipment in low cost inside the country or neighbor country. On the other hand, if a firm wants to deliver the shipment quickly or very fast speed and there is no issue of cost then the air transportation will be suitable (Bortolini et al., 2016). Moreover, the road transportation is also suitable for the firm which delivers their shipment in the country and neighbor country but it is quite costly than rail transport. In concern to sea transport, a firm can use it for the large size of shipment and need to deliver for long distance like one country to another.


From the above study, it can be concluded that there are several modes of transportation that are available for a firm. Each mode of the transport has beneficial as per the situation of shipment delivery where sea transport cost-effective transportation mode. But road transport is most suitable to direct delivery and a firm could adopt it effectively for domestic shipments.
